Rebecca Jean is born

Well, as most of you know, Rebecca was born on October 3.  It was an uneventful delivery.  The afternoon of Oct. 2, I lost my mucous plug (yuck).  I called my MIL and she guessed it would be less than 24 hours until delivery.  A few hours later, I went in to use the restroom and as I sat down, I had a small trickle of fluid...not pee.  I called L&D ( Read more... )

Yeah, you were all posting about the game on TV and then you posted that the baby was here... It's like having the baby was your half time show. :)

Questions if you feel like answering them...
Why did they give you the pitocin?
How much could you feel during the contraction and pushing?
How long did it take for you legs and stuff to feel normal again?

1. They gave me pitocin to get the contractions going since my water had already broken. They don't like the water to break and then have no progress because that sack of membranes is a protective barrier to the baby.

2. I could feel the strongest contractions through the epidural, but it was more like a moderate menstrual cramp feeling. The pushing I couldn't feel, but I could feel her slide out. I felt a little rectal pressure immediately prior to pushing.

3. It took several hours for the numbness/tingling to leave once the epidural was removed. It felt exactly like when your face is numb from novacaine and it's starting to wear off...but obviously, over a larger area.

Fascinating!
Thanks for answering my questions.
She's adorable, BTW. SO TINY! I love the pics in the swing the best. How's Payton doing with her?

Payton's doing great with her. She doesn't want to touch her, but she is fascinated by her. She will point to a blanket or a toy and say "Becca's ___". She's also been trying to help me nurse. LOL The other day, I was switching sides and Payton grabbed my one boob, sandwiched it like I do, and said "Here Becca". Made me almost cry from laughing.
