Quick update

Our orders to Germany were cancelled.  As of now, we don't know where we're going because branch keeps trying to dick Tom around.  The doctors want us to stay here since there is still no diagnosis for Becca.  They said the only Army hospitals with the capability of finding a diagnosis are here, Hawaii and DC.  DC doesn't have Tom's job.  Even ( Read more... )

You are a bad ass.
I read journals belonging to women whose children are completely healthy and they whine and freak out if their husband has to go out of town for TWO NIGHTS.
I had no idea things with Becca were such a mystery and potentially serious until I saw your fb post about the MD test. I knew she was petite and a little late on some milestones but I'm pretty chill about milestones because people are all different.
I can't imagine how frustrated you guys must be. Germany will have to wait and I don't think it's going anywhere.

Becca is quite the enigma. She drives us crazy because she'll eat ok for one or two days and then eat nothing for 4 days. Milk with carnation instant breakfast, odwalla protein smoothies, and flinstone vitams (with zinc) are pretty much the staple of her diet.

When the docs first said she was developmentally delayed, I asked if she was retarded. They assured me that her brain was fine and that she was very smart. However, if she doesn't start growing, eventually that will start to impact her organs and brain. No bueno.

Caroline didn't talk either until she was past two. It's probably better to stay in one place until they can tell what's going on with her. I can't imagine the stress of having a kid with unknown medical issues and having to add trans-planetary moves on top of that.
I hope they get to the bottom of this though.

Yeah, we're in the process of writing a letter to our Congressmen due to the behavior of Tom's branch manager. He refuses to follow proper protocol and make the proper inquiries to the installations that Tom could potentially be stationed at. He told Tom he would put him on orders and if the EFMP program said no, he'd put him on orders to somewhere else until we were accepted somewhere. The EFMP manager flat out said he couldn't do that ( ... )

I've never understood WHY the military is opposed to "homesteading" unless you have an EFM. It seems like it would save a lot of money and help you to establish better relationships within your community. I understand that for some jobs (like Jason's) being a ping-pong ball is necessary, but for others, why not just leave guys in one place?

You know we short sold our house and cleared everything with the VA about the loan through HAP.
HAP kicked in $45,000, I think.
Dutch handled all of it but it was a generally painless process to get out from under that house, all things considered. Being MIL and with the new situation with Becca's health limiting your options, you guys might be ideal candidates to get an extra close look.
If you look into it and have any questions I can refer them to Dutch.
