this resonates to me because: you dont forgive someone necessarily for them. you forgive them also for *yourself* lest the poison of your hatred eat you up inside.

yes, that forgiveness is bitter, and it tastes horrible going down. but the next sip of water is sweeter because you know that poison will be lanced from you sooner because of those words.

The person in question here is a better person than I am - all the things she went through, I wouldn't be able to forgive.

I wonder why we feel the need to forgive the dead? They care the least of all.

Still, though, I liked the way her words conveyed the true meaning of the word "bitter".

I think, for her, she needed to do it for herself. I don't think I could've done it though - I couldn't even say the words with a straight face.
