Haha! Yes! (and some facts about my life)

Another adventure of Simon's Cat. This one is the funniest yet IMO. :)

In other news, Ted and I are in Maryland, getting things as set up as possible to move in a couple of weeks. We have a shoebox to live in (but a shoebox that is in very good condition with utilities, phone, and internet included in the very reasonable rent price), and I have ( Read more... )

The way this area works is odd. One neighborhood will be decent and the one adjoining it will be absolute crap - totally shady. For instance, we had heard only good things about the Silver Spring suburb, so we decided we'd try a mexican restaurant we had gotten a coupon for. We travel the 20 minutes it took to get here via the Beltway, and found ourselves in a very spotty area.

Hey that sounds like where I live! But with no Applebees.

Haha. I'm not sure about the Applebees anymore either - just in terms of good, edible food. We drove to Olive Garden tonight in a perfectly respectable area. And it was, hands down, the worst Olive Garden experience evar. My fettuccine noodles were all stuck together and undercooked, and Ted's lasagna and chicken parm were overcooked. Sigh.

Good news is all the food places on campus have been wonderful.

Welcome to grad school!
Maybe we can come visit you? The ASKs (Promise, Rachel S., Erin, and myself) are taking a road trip to Baltimore for convention. We'll be in the area Aug. 7-9. I'd like to see what "Graduate Hills" is like.

I would love for you to come visit us. There is a problem though. Our moving schedule is this: We're leaving Norman on the first to go to Marlow and we're leaving Marlow the third. Our stuff should be arriving in Maryland on the 5th or 6th. So I'm not really sure how set up things will be or how available we'll be for your visit.

Give us a call whenever you think you'd like to come visit, and we'll try to get out for dinner and show your our place.

August 1st is Brett and I's first day in Anchorage!

Sounds like it's all going great, unluckiness with restaurants and unhelpful secretaries(?) aside. Good luck with the funding! It does indeed seem like there are many fewer dollars available the farther we get in school. . .

That is a coincidence, but Ted and I are just leaving Norman on the 1st. We'll actually start heading up to MD on the 3rd and probably won't get there until the 5th.

The funding is on it's way to being sorted out, and it's helpful that the awful admin chick is way far away from my dept. :)

I also asked a friend and fellow CONS-er about restaurants and have gotten straightened out a bit. Although I was told I must try this Ethiopian restaurant, and I'm still not to sure about that.

Yes, I saw that you were just leaving Norman on August 1st, but still, the date rang a bell in my head. :-) Glad everything is working out.
