Part 1
ELIZABETH’S SECRET DIARY. Volume 3.

I don’t have a picture of the cover of the book.

This takes place between books 71 and 82. All except 79 and 80 have been recapped. I don’t know how to do the linky thing so you will have to go to the info page if you want to read them. Sorry.

Part One

It’s Friday night at the Wakefield’s and the hot but different twins are getting ready to go out.

Elizabeth tells us how the family always eats dinner together on week nights. For family bonding. She thinks it sounds corny, but they stay in touch that way. Yeah right.

The parental units have gone out for the night because they don’t want to be around when two teenage girls are getting ready for dates. Or at any other time it seems. Except for eating dinner. I get a mental image of Ned and Alice waiting near the back door, timing their entrance for as soon as dinner is ready, just to avoid spending time with their children.

Anyway, Jess and Liz are fighting over the bathroom mirror when Jessica conveniently remembers to tell Elizabeth that Todd called. He has cancelled their date. At first Elizabeth is angry at Jessica for forgetting, then, she realizes that Jess is just flakey that way. Oh Elizabeth.

Just as Liz is about to call Todd, Jess’s date Seth, arrives. As Jessica is the make em wait type of girl, she yells for Liz to let him in. Liz tells Jessica to do it herself, after all Jess forgot about Todd’s message. Oh I wish. Of course our local doormat does just what she is told and opens the door.

Seth is ruggedly handsome and Liz is a little bit attracted to him. Elizabeth remembers another time when her and Jess were attracted to the same guy. Hmm, curious. When Jessica comes down stairs Seth forgets that Liz is there. He stepped around me as if I were an inanimate object - a coat rack or umbrella stand.  Thank you for explaining what inanimate means Liz.

After Seth and Jess leave Liz gets back to calling Todd for an explanation. Todd is very abrupt on the phone; he’s on his way out and hangs up before Liz can say anything. Liz starts to stress over her relationship with the Toddster and decides to read her diaries.

(Takes place during #71 Starring Jessica!)

Liz is feeling restless. She can’t even concentrate on studying for a test. Wow! She feels like her life is stale and boring lately, but she’s just comparing her life to Jessica’s. Um Lizzie, you’re the boring twin, remember.

Jessica is trying to get onto the Eric Parker Show. I’ll assume we have all read that recap. I hope you all have because here is the first discrepancy, Liz make no mention in her Diary about becoming a Secca Lake Guide with Enid.  I guess it was just too boring to mention.

Elizabeth is feeling bored with Todd. She wants to do more exciting things with him. No, not that. She drops a few hints, but he just doesn’t get it. (That’s not the only thing he doesn’t get. Nudge nudge, wink wink.)

(#72 Rock Star’s Girl)

Andrea Slade arrives and Jessica is having her big Jamie Peters obsession. Andrea doesn’t like talking about her life much and Elizabeth respects her privacy and doesn’t push for details. Who are you and what have you done with the real Elizabeth? (Margo, Nora?)

We get a nice long description of the beach and are once again reminded of the fact that our lives are crap compared with the Wakefield’s. Elizabeth goes to a different beach that is quieter than the Sweet Valley beach and notices an absolutely gorgeous guy watching her. Because all guys in Francine land are gorgeous. Except for book Winston, TV Winston was hot.

Anyway, Liz describes this guy as really cute with curly hair. He sounds vaguely familiar to me. She tries to approach him but he runs off. Keep running mysterious hot dude, it may save your life one day.

Elizabeth can’t stop thinking about mysterious hot dude (MHD). She even sees him at the Dairy Burger. She thinks maybe he goes to Bridgewater High because one of his friends wearing a BWH letter jacket. Liz is showing her smart skills there.

Later on Liz and Todd are on a double date with Andrea and Nicholas at Guidos.  Liz sees MHD with some SVH kids. Among them are April Dawson and Michael Harris. I only mention their names because they pop up later.

Liz starts to feel as if she and MHD are destined or something because she keeps seeing him everywhere. Does that mean my crush and I are destined? I see him every time I take my sons to school, he’s a teacher. No, he does not look like a young Robert Redford.

Elizabeth decides she has to get to know MHD. Because she will stop thinking about him once he is no longer a mystery. Yeah, that works.

She meets him! He’s intelligent, caring and unbelievably handsome. Hold on to your hats ladies and gents, his name is SAM WOODRUFF. Noooooo!!!!!!! Oh Elizabeth I hate you so much right now. Leave him alone, he belongs with Jessica.

Liz gushes over his name. It’s such a sweet name. She even writes Mrs. Elizabeth Woodruff in her diary. I wouldn’t even have to change my initials! You wouldn’t have to change them if you were Mrs. Wilkins, or Mrs. Watts or even Mrs. White. I wonder if Liz will be married to a W in SVC. Or maybe she will keep her own name to be sure of keeping those precious initials. Barf. If my initials were EW, I’d want to change them. Apologies to any one with those initials. I am sure you are much better than Liz. J

Anyhoo, she meets Sam at the different beach and he thinks she is Jessica. Because he watched that Eric Parker show. He thought she seemed like the kind of girl he’d like to know. To be fair, it was Liz on the show, but it was totally Jessica’s personality. See, he is meant for Jessica. Back off Liz.

Sam mentions seeing Liz around with some guy that he assumes is her boyfriend. Liz lies, naughty girl. She tells Sam that she used to date Todd but he moved away, he is back now and they are just good friends. Liar, liar, pants on fire.

They spend two hours together. Liz finds out that Sam rides a dirt bike. She’s been kind of afraid of motorcycles since her accident. Well duh. She gets ‘turned on’ when Sam talks about racing dirt bikes. Oh Todd, you really messed up on that one.

Liz gets a little tap on the shoulder form her conscience. Todd would be so hurt if he found out, she can’t tell Sam about Todd because then Sam would be hurt. Oh just break up with Todd, introduce Sam to Jessica and get back with Jeffery you idiot.

#73 Regina’s Legacy

Elizabeth receives a camera from Mrs. Sorrow Morrow. The camera belonged to Elizabeth’s beloved friend Regina; she was deaf, then not deaf, then dead. For such beloved friends, they didn’t hang out much. It’s pretty good timing to get the camera now that SVH has a photography club. How convenient.

Elizabeth almost tells Enid about Sam. They are having a conversation about relationships versus singledom. In her head Liz thinks about how wonderful Todd is and how much they have been through and how he has always been there for her. I quote; Like when Regina died. I remember Todd holding me close - we were both crying. It was such and awful time, but he gave me strength and kept me going. THAT WAS JEFFERY. Todd was in Vermont when Regina came back from Switzerland. I am seriously starting to doubt Liz’s sanity. Of course Liz doesn’t say any thing about Sam to Enid. That would ruin the whole story.

Elizabeth is making a stir fry for dinner. Chopping away like a maniac when the phone rings. She thinks it is Todd and starts talking about the Photography Club when the boy on the phone informs her that he is Sam. Elizabeth shits herself in case Jess is listening on the other phone. She tells Sam she can’t talk right now because someone is at the door. (Liar) He asks her to call him later. She waits for Jessica to bound down stairs and demand to know who Sam is. When it doesn’t happen Liz is relieved that her secret is still safe. Conscience taps again, but she tells it to piss off. Liz is more like Jessica than she realizes.

Elizabeth goes to the other beach to look for Sam. She takes her new camera and Prince Albert. She takes the photo that gives book 71 its plot. Elizabeth tells us that Regina died from a Brain Seizure when she took drugs. No Liz it was her Heart. Stupid girl. Or should that be, stupid ghost writer?

Liz and Todd are in the Wakefield’s pool when Liz hears the doorbell. She walks around to the front of the house and Sam is there. Oh No. He asks her out and she says yes. She tells him that she is busy babysitting the neighbor’s kid and has to go now. The lies they are flowing.

#74 The Perfect Girl

The big date with Sam happens. They go to a restaurant in Bridgewater and have BBQ Ribs. Not a good date meal. Very messy and you spend a lot of time licking your fingers. They talk and talk and talk. Liz tells Sam that she has a fantasy about dressing in skintight black leather and riding a Harley. Just make sure you wear a helmet and stay clear of purple vans Lizzie.

After dinner, our happy couple take a walk on the beach and they KISS. Sam gives Liz his sweater to wear because she is cold. Aaw, what a sweetie. Elizabeth feels guilty (finally) and runs off, but she tells Sam she will see him again soon.

Liz is all gaa gaa over Sam and feels bad every time she sees Todd. Oh please, so break up with him you two timing bitch.

Liz and Sam have another date. This time they go to a restaurant up the coast called Castillo San Angelo, which I guess translates to Castle of Angels. Correct me if I’m wrong. There is lots of Honeysuckle. God I love the smell of honeysuckle. For the rest of her life the smell of honeysuckle will remind Liz of kissing Sam. It will remind me of the time I picked some and almost got stung by a bee. Bees love honeysuckle too.

When Liz gets home she has a total guilt attack. Because she’s cheating on Todd? Because she is lying to Sam? No, because she forgot to give Sam his sweater. Did Liz hit her head again, because she is totally channeling Jessica in this book?

Between cheating on Todd and lying to Sam we get snippets on what’s happening with Robin Wilson and her anorexia.

Elizabeth keeps vowing to break things off with Sam; of course he’s so gorgeous that she can’t help herself.
Oh the intrigue. Don't worry you wont have to wait long for part two.
