I was typing up recipes a while ago.

What is with the phrase "salt to taste?"
It doesn't give you any indication of how much, because I'm sure you'd be able to taste a cup of salt if you dumped it in some soup or something. So then why bother with the phrase "to taste." Isn't that what the other ingredients are there for too?
