Poutine is of the devil (and I was born in Saskatchewan). Seriously...evil. The bacon ice cream sounds interesting, though.
Also, I hear rumors of the Alex-type that you are visiting the sunny Northwet on 8/18? Would you, perhaps, be interested in a Viking Days festival at a Norwegian Heritage Museum? We may have entertaining plans...
Ballard's a bit out of our way, to be honest, fun though the event looks. I don't know yet when Nicole is planning a fannish get-together for, so I'm reluctant to book up a big chunk of Saturday at this point. Mind you, if we could get a ride to the event and maybe combine it with the fannish get-together, that would be perfect. Hope to see you during our visit, one way or another!
The bacon-chocolate that I once had was good. Good quality dark chocolate bar with bacon in it. I'm usually a milk chocolate fan, but this was very tasty. I think the bacon fat made up for the missing milk, to give it that rich, creamy quality that I love.
I wasn't as disenchanted with the chocolate-dipped bacon as I was with the chicken-fried bacon. I'm lookiing forward to the bacon ice cream. Mmmm. Bacon.
I believe you about the peaches. I've had the Salty Tart's peaches (roasted) in cream (not unlike creme fraiche but more complex), last year's clear winner on State Fair offerings for me.

There are plenty of things on that new food list that I would run a mile to avoid.
