the untrained shrink in me says bored-by-everything is a sign of being unwilling to allow yourself to actually *be* happy--happiness exists as something to reach for and be frustrated that you can't have or as something you might once have had but didn't know it until it was gone.

the untrained shrink in me says unwillingness to allow yourself to be happy is a sign of thinking you don't deserve happiness--that you're supposed to be reaching for bigger or "more important" things to compensate for some imagined lack, & happy is both too unattainably large and too mundanely small a goal--reaching it wouldn't be doing enough, so why bother ( ... )

thank you.
thank you for this post.
i remember a time when i used to notice such things. i think, even last summer, i did, sometimes. but i seem to have lost perspective somewhere along the way.
i'm sorry for your losses. but i'm glad you are happy.
and i'd love your unboring influence a little closer in my life. you should visit... once i move to CO. :)

You don't post for ever, and you finally do, and its THIS?!? ;)

Seriously, chill out darling! I think you're worrying too much, and over thinking things. Happiness is something that finds us when we're not looking for it. If your work or school is creating such a horrible life outside of those, that you don't want to do anything but work/school, then you need to change that.

I personally think school's purpose is to give us work. And work's purpose is to give us life. School for the sake of school is not healthy, and work for the sake of work is not healthy.

You're a very bright, very adorable, very fun young woman. Stop worrying so much, and you'll see things will turn up! ;)

Happiness is never gone, no matter what. Sometimes we just loose sight of it temporarily, but we always find it again. ;)

and you're right: i do worry too much. and i think it's b/c i take myself too seriously. it's self-righteous in a way. and obviously, destructive.

Well... stop it! just stop it! ;)

There was some consideration about moving to CA, but that has apparently fallen through.
