When Inara returned to her private chambers after yet another heated discussion with her captain, she expected to fall onto her bed and sleep until they arrived to their next destination to cool off.
She did not, however, expect to find one Kaylee Frye sitting on top of the bed, legs crossed, and in between them a jar of chocolate chip cookies from which she kept puling out cookies, one after the other, and eating them so fast that it seemed she wasn't chewing them at all.
"What did he do?" Inara sighed, sliding to her side instantly.
"Who?" Kaylee replied innocently, looking away.
"You know who. Don't make me state the obvious. Did he do something real bad, or was he being plain stupid as usual?"
"…stupid."
"No surprise there. Wanna tell me what's up with the cookies?"
"It's comfort food!" Kaylee cheeped with a small smile, taking another cookie from the jar. "I wanted ice cream, but we're tight on budget so…"
"Typical. Don't worry, I'll have a talk with the young doctor later."
"You're the best" she smiles broadly at her friend, then rests her head against her shoulder and lets out a sigh. "Why does he have to be so stupid sometimes?"
"Because he's a man, Kaylee" Inara replies while caressing her head affectionately, internally a bit jealous of her innocence in regards to that area.
