"Focus."
"I am focused!" Skye complained, looking up at the other woman.
"No, you were not" May replied, firmly. "You were thinking about Ward, were you not?"
Skye didn't reply, but the look she had expressed what words couldn't; May was right.
"I can't help it, ok?" Skye said back, to what May sighed.
"Skye, I accepted to become your new S.O. to train you, and I cannot do that if you don't push Grant Ward out of your head and focus on fighting back."
They were on the training grounds of their new base. May was weilding a bamboo stick, which she had already used twice to easily disarm Skye.
"You don't think I want to let it go?" Skye replied angrily, getting up and recovering her own bamboo blade from the floor. "I wish I could, but everytime I just keep remembering his face, how he could just smile and lie straight to my face and I..."
"Wanna smash that bamboo stick on that face?" May supplied to complete that sentence.
"... yeah" Skye admitted with a glipse of hesitance on her voice.
"Good" May sentenced. "Then pretend you are. Grab all that anger, all that rage inside you, build it up and use to it focus."
Skye closed her eyes. She pictured Ward facing her. But then Ward disappeared (finally), and all she could see was May, who was there with her, who was there for her.
Skye opened her eyes and smirked, inviting to the challenge.
