"It's the end of our weekend," Zeke said as he leaned back in his chair, raising an eyebrow as he took a sip of the coffee that Michael had just poured for him. "You know what that means. Back to work tomorrow, wondering if everybody can tell what's happened between us."

"You think anybody else is going to know?" Mike asked, managing to keep his voice steady.

it didn't matter to him if everybody and their dog knew about his relationship with Zeke, he told himself firmly. He wasn't ashamed to be in love with a man -- and Zeke was the best person he'd ever known. Zeke was perfectly suited to him, and he wanted their relationship to last.

That didn't, however, mean that he was ready for the entire world -- or at least the world that the two of them moved in -- to know about their relationship just yet.

"I don't care if the whole world know," Zeke told him with a shrug. "What I"m worried about is that you might get tired of me after a while. We're waltzing in step pretty well right now -- but I've got the feeling that sooner or later the music's going to stop, and you'll be dancing with somebody else."

"What?" Mike set down his coffee mug, staring across the kitchen table at Zeke. "You really believe that I"ll get tired of you? Why would you think that?" He had never anticipated this, never thought that Zeke could doubt how he felt. Not after this weekend.

What could he have said or done to make Zeke feel this way?

"You've always got women all over you," Zeke said softly, not meeting Michael's gaze. "And probably some guys, too. Everybody wants to be with you, Mike. And I'm just a nobody who works in a clinic with you. You might decide that you can do a lot better than me."

Michael shook his head, standing up and moving around the table to where Zeke sat. He took his boyfriend's hands in his and pulled him to his feet, wrapping his arms around Zeke's waist and holding him close. "Never," he whispered. "I'll never get tired of you. Not ever."

"How do we keep waltzing in step with each other, Mike?" Zeke whispered. "How do you make sure that it never stops? I don't know how. And I'm scared that if I don't, then I'll lose you."

There was only one way to handle that fear, and Mike knew just how to do it.

"You'll never lose me," he whispered, taking Zeke's face between his hands and gazing into his eyes. "Don't ever worry about that." With those words, he captured Zeke's lips with his own, hoping that his actions, as well as his words, would set any fears to rest, and give Zeke a definite answer to his question.
