FAQ

Have any questions that couldn't be answered previously? Anything? If you do have any questions, then this is your place!

Q: Is there a time limit for a claim?
A: Yes, two months. After two months passed, your right over the claimed pairing will expire (unless you ask for an extension, that is).

Q: Does it necessarily have to be 50/500 words? What if I write 501?
A: Relax, no one will kill you if you write 501 instead of 500. It's not a bad thing; sometimes we get inspired and write a little more than we should. It's okay to be a little over the max, but not much. If you pass the limit by a lot, though, it won't be accepted.

Q: Is there a special format for the drabble?
A: No, you may write it as you prefer; pure dialogue, solely descriptive... but it has to follow the rest of the rules listed in the profile, don't forget!

Q: Does it have to be a romantic couple? Can't it be other type of relationship?
A: No, it doesn't necessarily need to be romance. You can write about two characters' platonic relationship, friendship, family... that's up to you!

Q: Can we call dibs on a pairing another person has, so we get it first when he/she's done?
A: No, you may not. You'll have to wait until said person is done with their claim, and then make a post asking for that pairing.

Q: I posted my claim... so, how long do I have to wait now to claim again?
A: You can claim right away after you post your drabble, there is no waiting time. You don't even have to wait until you're taken down from the Already Claimed list; after you've published, you're free to claim away any pairing available!

Q: I posted a drabble with the theme X. Can I use the same theme for my next drabble?
A: Absolutely!

Q: Can I write a gen fic on my drabble?
A: We focus on pairings, perhaps with no romance between them, but pairings either way. So no, gen pieces aren't allowed.

Q: Are crossover pairings allowed? What about Real People pairings?
A: Of course they are! Just remember to tag them properly, as explained in the Claiming post.

Q: Are threesomes/foursomes allowed?
A: No, only pairings of twos. Other characters can appear in the drabble, but the focus must be the relationship of these two characters.

Q: Could I have a beta-reader check out my work before posting it?
A: Sure you may!

Q: Are AU (Alternate Universe) allowed?
A: Yes!

Q: Are OC (Original Characters) allowed?
A: Yes they are, but please note it in your claim. This means that when you claim the pairing, list between brackets that the character is an OC.

Q: What about original works? Can I write a drabble solely about characters of my creation?
A: No, they're not allowed here. We work only with fandoms here... sorry.

Q: Can I claim pairings from a fandom that hasn't been listed yet?
A: Yes, please do so. The more fandoms, the better! :) If there is no tag for your fandom yet, just add the "!missing tag" tag and one will be created later for it.

Q: What about adult content? How much is allowed?
A: Adult content is allowed. However, remember not everyone enjoys it, and we must respect that. So please, when you post your claim, put a warning for potential readers before the drabble, so they know it contains adult content. Any rating is allowed.

Q: Can I claim more than one pairing?
A: A user can have up to two different claims at the same time, no more.

Q: I dropped my claim, but now I'm inspired and want to write about that pairing. Can I re-claim it?
A: If it hasn't been claimed by someone else, then yes, go ahead!

Q: Can I cross-post this at another community?
A: Yes you may!

Q: I want to claim a pairing that has been claimed by someone else, but his right to the claim has expired recently. However, he's still listed in the claimed list. What do I do?
A: Send a PM to this account (1drabblemod) telling us of your situation. If the person hasn't posted the claim as you say and we forgot to remove him from the list, then the pairing's all yours to claim, but please let us know first!

Q: Can I do different themes (or all of them) for a single pairing?
A: Yes, you can do that. The thing is, once you're done with a theme, the pairing is available for others to claim it too, until you make a post again at the Claiming post. So, you'll have to post and re-claim it, but you can do every theme with the same pairing.

Q: Does the theme have to be on the drabble?
A: No, it's just a guideline, you can interpret it however you want, but it has to have some relation with it... let your imagination fly!

Q: Is it possible to claim a character who someone else already claimed but paired with someone else?
A: Yes, you can, since it's a completely different pairing.

Q: What if my question wasn't answered in this FAQ?
A: Well then, that's what the comments section is for! Just write your doubt here, and we'll be happy to clear it for you. :)
