English in Korea

Despite the fact that there is a huge push to learn English in Korea, very few people actually seem to have any workable knowledge of English.  Everywhere you go, there is bad English on signs.  Here's one of my favorites (although let's face it, the fact that it is called Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!! school is just as funny as the bad English):

Interesting. In Germany we use a similar phrase for having a blackout from too much alcohol. It's "Filmriss" and means literally a film rip or a rip in the film (roll).

And sleazy sound a little bit greasy, so maybe that's where they get the idea from. (We say 'eel smooth', 'smooth like an eel' for that, btw)

I would love to have attended KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN School if for no reason other than that it's the best name I've ever seen.

Many people in the USA do not understand my English. I wonder how I'd fare if I only communicated with phrases and gestures. Hmmm.
