One of C's fish died this afternoon. I could see it coming. He was drifting near the top the few times I had looked this morning, so I wasn't all that surprised to find him dead by 3PM. We sort of unceremoniously flushed him. I basically told them that's what you do with fish, return them to the ocean where they came from. So what if it was a

Your new dog sounds so sweet -- and reminds me of our Cinder, who we rescued (probably from a puppy farm). She was skittish too about sounds, and clearly traumatized. But you know what? You've never seen a more loyal animal. It's as though she knew we saved her. I bet you'll find your new dog to be very similar in that respect.
Now you have me experiencing puppylust. Thanks. :)
Wanted to add that I really do think kids are different when it's just them w/mom and dad. The dynamic totally changes.
