A great light has gone out today. Love him or hate him, a tough, brilliant old Armenian who had the guts to live his beliefs is no more. Some will cheer his passing, the rest of us will mourn. He was the only contemporary who could have successfully created a viable, badly needed 3rd political party here in Michigan. Death to that dream too, now. A ( Read more... )

If one can find their way through all the hyperbole (I cannot stand our media) - he really is/was a fascinating, brilliant and COMPASSIONATE man.
He even admitted to perhaps approaching his cause from the wrong direction (he said he was sorry he didn't champion the legal battle rather than go rogue) but I think he was tremendously effective.
I was shocked to find no hardly anyone had anything BAD to say about the man on Yahoo comments - and that forum is typically brutal (ok, and ignorant) as hell! But it still surprises me.

So much success came out of the generation who fled the massacre by the Turks. I was close to another man of medicine, whose family fled Armenia at the same time as Dr. K's. Prior to becoming a doctor, he had been a Detroit Public School teacher for 40+ years. An amazing man, I miss him every day.
