Buffy texted her
cheerleader votes to Alec, and spent an hour deciding on an outfit.
Phrases such as "Would you like the newest issue of Watchtower?" and "Hi I'm an enormous slut!" might have been used before she finally made up her mind. She waved bye to her mom, who looked pleased for some reason, and then she was off to the Bronze.
Buffy was still bored. She thought this place might be fun if she had friends here, but since she didn't... She sipped her pepsi, and looked around. Judging from all the people who'd showed up in Fandom knowing her, she'd expected to recognize lots of people, but she didn't.
Except that girl... She twisted keeping her in sight. The girl who was watching that guy... Buffy narrowed her eyes and got up.
Kendra was on the hunt. The guy was showing all the signs so she followed him out of the club, looking for a fight.
Great, a vampire! Hopefully this one might prove to be a challenge. Buffy quickly finished her drink and followed the female vamp outside, keeping her distance for now. She hadn't yet found a nice monster in town, but there was always a first time, and she'd promised to make sure first.
Realizing someone was following her out of the club, Kendra intended to quickly dispatch the vampire. She pulled out her stake and prepared to make her move.
The female vamp looked like she was getting ready to attack. Oh crap. Buffy sped up, jumping up to deliver a kick at the vampire's back.
As she engaged the vamp, Kendra was struck in the back. Regaining her composure, she spun around, launching a punch attack at her blonde assailant's face.
Buffy ducked out of the way at the last second, moving her arm up to block the punch. "Run!" she called out to the confused looking man. "Get out of here!"
The vamp took off down the alley. Kendra was conflicted between her fight with the girl and going after the vampire. She threw an elbow at the blonde's face.
This time she made a contact and Buffy yelped. "Hey! Mind the face!" She aimed a kick at the girl's knee, and an elbow to her stomach. Then she noticed the stake. "What the hell..?"
This girl was chatty during a fight. "What do you mean?" she asked, sidestepping the kick and taking the blow to the stomach as she reached to grab hold of the blonde's arm.
Buffy's arm was grabbed, but she tried hooking her leg around the vampire's, to trip her. "What's with the stake? Starting to lose your teeth?"
"My teeth?" Kendra, momentarily distracted by the questions, tripped and relinquished her hold on the blonde to regain her balance. "I am the slayer, the stake is my tool. You need to not protect vampires if you don't want to be attacked."
Buffy straightened and stared. "You're not the slayer. -I'm- the slayer here!" She pulled out her stake, like that would prove it. "You're just a clever vampire!"
"I am not a vampire!" Kendra stared at the blonde claiming to be a slayer, and crossed her arms in front of her, stake fisted in her hand. "If you are a slayer, you would know that."
"I don't exactly have a special Slayer Arachnid-sense," Buffy pointed out, crossing her arms and mirroring Maybe-Not-Vamp girl. "And you were totally hunting that guy!"
"He was a vampire!" Kendra replied, thoroughly exasperated with this blonde girl. "And you let him get away."
"How was I supposed to know," Buffy protested. "He looked way more fashionable than you do!" Her excellent fashion sense was a usually a great help in finding possible vampires. If they looked like they'd been dead for fifty years, they probably had been. "Anyway, I'm Buffy. I'm suppose to be the vampire slayer here. Who the hell are you?"
"
"I'm Kendra the Vampire Slayer," she said, holding her head high and ignoring the slight on her clothing. "You were supposed to know by using your training to guide you to recognize the real vampires."
Buffy frowned. "I've had plenty training, missy. I bet I've fought more monsters than you have." The alley behind the Bronze was totally the place to have this talk.
"I'm sure your watcher is very proud," she snorted, doubting this perky blonde had ever successfully killed any vampires.
"My Watcher is totally proud of me, thank you ver-- Wait, you have a Watcher? Here?" Buffy waited for the curt nod from Kendra before demanding, "Take me to your Watcher."
