Buffy hauled her suitcase up the stairs and passed about a million people she'd never seen before. She threw open her dorm door and announced, "We have been invaded." Then she entered, threw her suitcase on the floor and flopped down on her bed.

River lay stretched out on her bed, closely examining the ceiling.

"Yes," she said. "Berthold is frightened."

Buffy turned her head to look at her. "Have you given him ice cream so he feels better?"

"No, don't want him to get a bad tummy again," she replied. "How was Christmas?"

"There were presents and dad took me skating," Buffy beamed. "Oh!" She sat up. "Thank you so much for the vintage issues!"

Alec had spotted Buffy coming up to the building and went to meet her at her room with a bag of gifts in one hand, knocking at her door with the other.

"Enter!" Buffy called out as she stripped out of her jacket.

Alec opened the door and grinned at Buffy as he came in. "Hey, you. Finally back, I see."

Buffy dropped her jacket on her bed and bounced over to Alec to give him a hug. "I am! How've you been?"
