Fandom: Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken
Pairing: Karel/Guy
Theme set: Epsilon
Rating: PG-13/light R
Notes: I already know I'll be doing more of these. Possibly a bit AU, since I hear there's a sequel, and I don't know how things go for these two in that. Pity the abused semicolons and dashes. Oh, and these are not necessarily meant to be connected, though some of them came out as so.
#01 - Motion
Guy whirled again, his blade clashing against Karel's own, the only constant in this game of life and
death his own perpetual motion.
#02 - Cool
Guy pulled closer to his master, the cool of the night crept up stealing all warmth from his skin, much the same way that Karel did to his soul.
#03 - Young
So young, so fragile, these things Karel acknowledged, but he pushed his apprentice all the more for it.
#04 - Last
Karel could smell him, taste him on Guy, and it would be for the last time the thief touched what was not his own...
#05 - Wrong
"Master? Is this... right...?" the last coherent words his delicate young apprentice had spoken before dawn still haunt him to this day; was it... right...?
#06 - Gentle
Karel relished Guy's gasp at the sharp bite; he would never be gentle, yet Guy remained; that was enough for him.
#07 - One
One hit; all was finished with one, as Guy looked on upon the carrion-strewn field, at the one man left standing, and his heart that for that moment ceased to beat.
#08 - Thousand
It was that night that Guy, wrapped in Karel's arms, decided he would rather spend one lifetime with the sword demon that a thousand without.
#09 - King
Karel quickly realized the natural talent of his student during their first night; not even kings were so lucky in their conquests.
#10 - Learn
Another pained cry as his blade drew a long gash down his student's arm, he would learn quickly or not at all; that was sure.
#11 - Blur
Nights blurred into days, and he would never admit it, but he worried terribly for his ailing student as he sat beside the small cot in the medical tent.
#12 - Wait
Karel wasn't one to take no for an answer, but when Guy said no, he found himself willing to wait for the first time in his life.
#13 - Change
Change wasn't something Karel easily adapted to, so it was no surprise that with Guy's death, entire villages perished.
#14 - Command
Karel initiated, Guy responded; the only sure sequence in their lives, both on the battlefield and off.
#15 - Hold
Guy finished the Wyvern, his grip slipping on the lancereaver, and it was only then that Karel released his unaware hold on the hilt of his sword.
#16 - Need
Karel had taken very few lovers over the years; perhaps this was why he needed Guy so; whatever the reason, though, this was one of the few things he would classify as need.
#17 - Vision
Guy felled soldier after soldier, their lifeblood clouding his eyes, but he knew, in the back of his mind, that if nothing else, Karel was watching, and Karel was proud.
#18 - Attention
Hesitant from the one, harsh from the other, their attention to each other was a perfect symbiosis.
#19 - Soul
His soul craved blood, but the thing that scared him most was the day that his student had landed a hit on him; soon it would be his blood that was craved.
#20 - Picture
Karel carried Guy off that field himself, a beautiful picture had it not been for the younger's blood seeping into them both.
#21 - Fool
"You're a fool, I live to kill, and that includes you."
#22 - Mad
Karel was mad -- Guy never questioned it -- but he kept on hoping that someday...
#23 - Child
It was the first time Guy had kissed his master that Karel had realized that Guy was still very much innocent, despite the blood already on his hands, and very much a child, despite his protests otherwise.
#24 - Now
Someday, Karel would have to kill Guy; someday he would bathe his sword in that innocent blood; but today, tonight, he could only see the here and now under his student's gentle ministrations.
#25 - Shadow
Those that traveled with him during Eliwood's campaign said that now he was a shadow of the man he used to be; and how could he not be, with half of his spirit dead?
#26 - Goodbye
There are no words of farewell, only a mutual understanding when they are first parted, and upon meeting again (to save the world, no less), there are no words of greeting, only passion long into the night.
#27 - Hide
Karel and Guy both dream, both of battles, both of blood, but Guy wakes screaming; Karel wakes and forgets, by making Guy forget.
#28 - Fortune
"You have skill, boy. Fortunate that I found you, then?" That had been the beginning.
#29 - Safe
Safe is a word that Karel does not know, and Guy is fast forgetting; the battlefield is never safe, but both find comfort in each other, and for them, that is enough.
#30 - Ghost
Years have passed; he is now alone once again, but he swears by Elimine, when silence reigns and darkness takes hold he still sees those vivid eyes haunting his dreams, never a drop of regret, even in death.
#31 - Book
Karel had once asked Guy why he kept a journal, "For memories of times I can never have again," and it was then that Karel had bought a small book bound in red leather, full of empty pages that could be filled with memories of the one who would die by his own hand.
#32 - Eye
Other members of the army whisper about it; a scandalous thing; Guy must be insane himself to go along with it, but to Guy, it makes no difference; love is indeed blind.
#33 - Never
Drenched in Guy's blood, Karel traces the lifeless cheek before him; never again to breathe, and vows that he will never be master to another.
#34 - Sing
Karel never had been one for singing, yet Guy sung the songs of the plains, and for those moments all was right in the world.
#35 - Sudden
The thrust is sudden and shakes Guy out of his reverie, but Karel never has him suffer needlessly; he knows that bliss will come again soon enough.
#36 - Stop
"Please, stop..." Guy's words were drowned out and he realized that he never really meant them as his lips were silenced with Karel's own.
#37 - Time
Time was cruel; both Karel and Guy knew this; so they treated every night as if it were their last.
#38 - Wash
Guy sat down by the river bank in naught but a thin towel, wringing out excess water from Karel's overcoat; he never did figure out what Karel loved so much about washing day.
#39 - Torn
He lay still again as Karel skillfully stitched up the gash across his back; showing his capability both in wounding and in healing.
#40 - History
There were things about Karel that Guy did not know, would never know, but that was okay, so long as he could call him his master.
#41 - Power
Karel drove him back, a flurry of strikes, Guy again fighting to keep his footing, and he wondered just how much he was holding back this time.
#42 - Bother
Karel thought it a bother to waste time kissing and stroking when they could be fucking, but indulged his student; it made the end so much more fulfilling, at least.
#43 - God
Guy panted in the afterglow, looking at his lover, master, and man that was no longer a man, but his god.
#44 - Wall
Karel's soul was walled, as Guy knew only too well, but Guy hoped that someday it would be for him that those defenses were lowered.
#45 - Naked
So overtaken was he by the moment and Karel's hot, sensuous kisses that he barely even noticed as he was divested of clothes, never cared as Karel plundered his body.
#46 - Drive
Drive is something Karel does know; he sees it in Guy, and he prays that Guy will never know the kind of drive he feels.
#47 - Harm
Karel held the lifeless body close; nobody would ever harm his stude -- no, his equal -- ever again.
#48 - Precious
Karel finds it impossible to call precious what he knows he will kill.
#49 - Hunger
Guy planted kisses, tentative and nervous, down his neck, across his shoulders, continuing down, and Karel could feel his hunger changing from blood to something completely different.
#50 - Believe
Guy doesn't believe that he can change Karel -- quite the opposite; he can see himself changing bit by bit into a replica.
