Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: ScarxLust
Theme set: Epsilon
Rating: R
1. Motion: The ocean was a foreign idea to Lust - who had never seen so much as a single wave - and yet she felt as though she were adrift on it as she lay in the back of the battered automobile, the motion of the road and the voice of the desert-man lulling her to sleep.
2. Cool: Lust’s skin, cool by nature, was frozen in the wet of the rain - but so was his.
3. Young: Lust turned away from the Elric boy, his words ringing painfully in her ear - she didn’t care for eternal youth or eternal life, only for the scarred man.
4. Last: “There is no last parting,” he said gruffly, looking out over the rolling hills of the European countryside, “not for us.”
5. Wrong: Scar jerked away from her touch, recoiling from her gloved hands - it was wrong, this fire that her touch inflamed.
6. Gentle: Lust had never been a gentle creature, but even so, she held the wounded scarred man in her arms as tenderly as a lover.
7. One: “Did you really think he’d be the one to save you?” Sloth asked the question with contempt in her voice, and Lust turned away without answering.
8. Thousand: Beyond the gate Lust asked him how long he had waited for her, searching for her, and he told her it had only year - but he would have waited a thousand.
9. King: When she saw him wrapped in the garments of fallen Ishbal, Lust fancied that he looked like an ancient king.
10. Learn: It was an Ishbalan alchemist that she saw, in the dark recesses of her mind, but all she could think of was the scarred man - she needed to learn what it was these images meant.
11. Blur: As his vision blurred and the transmutation circle was activated, he swore he could see her face.
12. Wait: Even after he was gone, Lust sat alone in the desert, as though waiting for him.
13. Change: “Do you honestly think that you’ll change?” he snapped, “if you become human?” Lust looked away and didn’t see his gaze soften for a moment, or hear him whisper that it was alright.
14. Command: “Do you dare defy a command from our master over a man?” Pride asked, disbelief colouring his voice.
15. Hold: How cruel fate was, Scar though, that she could only hold him as he lay close to death.
16. Need: The others couldn’t understand, not even Sloth, why Lust needed to be human as badly as she did.
17. Vision: The visions came over him with almost painful clarity when he first saw her face, memories from a time long ago when he loved her.
18. Attention: “Your wounds need attention,” Lust urged, even though she knew it was useless - he was going to die, and leave her alone.
19. Soul: “I do not doubt that you have a soul,” Scar said, looking at the wall rather than her face, “what I doubt is that you have a heart.”
20. Picture: “Why are you so obsessed with Dante’s old pictures?” Envy snapped, catching Lust as she held the faded photograph of a man and woman holding each other and smiling for the camera.
21. Fool: Scar knew that he was a fool, that he done a foolish thing in risking his life for hers - but he didn’t regret it.
22. Mad: “If this is madness,” Lust said aloud to herself, watching the scarred man from afar, “then I would rather be mad than what I am.”
23. Child: She remembered him as a child, in those memories that she only now knew were hers, but she thought of him as a man.
24. Now: “If you loved me then, why can’t you love me now?” Lust pleaded, feeling something empty and gnawing inside of her as he turned away.
25. Shadow: The shadows of Lior were long and dark, and Lust slipped through them like a wraith, savoring the sight of the scarred man as he stalked the empty streets.
26. Goodbye: She couldn’t bare to say it to his face, to bid him farewell knowing that she would never see him again.
27. Hide: Scar turned his face away from the Fullmetal Alchemist, trying in vain to hide the look of desire that crossed his face as he spoke of the homunculus known as Lust.
28. Fortune: How petty, Lust though, the things that her fellows wanted - fortune, glory, power, eternal life… she only wanted love.
29. Safe: “Here,” he said to her without emotion, taking her in his arms for the first time in this place beyond the gate, “we are safe.”
30. Ghost: If she were a ghost, Scar though, she was the most lifelike ghost he had ever seen.
31. Book: “A book of fairytales?” Sloth snapped the book up with a cruel laugh. “You’re no princess, Lust, and your Ishbalan is no brave knight.”
32. Eye: He should have known, from her eyes, that she wasn’t the woman he had loved in life - but he felt the stirrings of want even so.
33. Never: “You’ll never have him,” Envy hissed, anger in his eyes, “none of us ever get to have that.”
34. Sing: It was the sound of birdsong that first made her remember him, standing beneath a pomegranate tree with a bouquet of desert flowers held tightly in his grasp.
35. Sudden: It shook him to the bone and clouded his head, the sudden feel of her skin against his.
36. Stop: “She tried to stop him,” Al said, his voice a reverent whisper, “but I don’t think it was because she didn’t want me to be the stone - I think she cared about him, brother.”
37. Time: So this was dying - moving beyond earth, beyond pain, beyond time itself - and he was there, whole and unscarred and waiting for her.
38. Wash: “At least let me wash your wounds!” Lust said, wanting just a few more moments with him, a few more moments to pretend that everything was alright.
39. Torn: She sat on the bed, Pride’s eyes fixing her with a stern glare, torn between fear of her master and love of the scarred man.
40. History: “The greatest stories history has ever told have all been about love,” Lust said, not looking at the stupid brat she’d been forced to look after, and thinking of a man with white hair and desert-kissed skin.
41. Power: “I don’t want power,” Lust protested, shaking her head, “I only want to be human - I only want my human life!”
42. Bother: He knew he shouldn’t bother, he shouldn’t argue with her or try and force her to remember - but he couldn’t help himself.
43. God: Lust didn’t know much about God, but she knew that it hadn’t been God who had given her life - but it hadn’t been God who had given him the gift of alchemy, either.
44. Wall: She stood for a good few moments, watching the wall and letting her eyes trace the lines of blood that he had left behind him, and then touching her fingers to the wet redness - the blood was all she had left of him.
45. Naked: Naked, bathed in the soft desert moonlight as he undressed to bathe, the scarred man looked perfect.
46. Drive: “Keep driving,” one of the men in back insisted, but Lust smiled as her desert man stopped the car - and smiled further at the looks the crossed the boy’s faces upon seeing them.
47. Harm: “Keep back, demon!” Scar snarled, and Lust didn’t know to assure him that she meant him no harm.
48. Precious: Lust couldn’t imagine anything more precious, more wanted, more needed than humanity and the love of the scarred man.
49. Hunger: “Are you hungry?” he asked her, eyes narrowed over the bowl he ate from - Lust shook her head no because it wasn’t food that she hungered for.
50. Believe: She didn’t understand how she had come to be in this place, or why, or what lay beyond this second life, but she could believe that it was a good thing because it was here that she finally had the love of the scarred desert man.
