#01 - Comfort
There was something to be said, Bug smiled to himself, about knowing that someone was going to be there when you got home.
#02 - Kiss
Nigel tastes sweet, but it’s not like he wasn’t expecting that.
#03 - Soft
His voice is soft when he’s just woken up, nothing like the foghorn that it would become at work in a few hours, and Bug wonders how he never noticed it before.
#04 - Pain
It’s two days before he’ll tell Nigel what the girl on the bus hissed at him.
#05 - Potatoes
After the baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, french fries, latkes, and one night of something that might have been trying to be dum aloo, Bug concedes defeat, and his kitchen became part of Nigel’s territory.
#06 - Rain
The rain remind them both of home, and of each other.
#07 - Chocolate
Bug is allergic to chocolate, but he only wishes he wasn’t in February.
#08 - Happiness
Happiness is a warm Buggles.
#09 - Telephone
“I’m on the train, I can’t hear you-I can’t hear a thing and you-I need to talk to you-Jesus Allah Buddah dammit...”
#10 - Ears
Nigel isn’t terribly surprised when Bug isn’t terribly surprised at his terrible surprise party.
#11 - Name
It only takes two months before Nigel can pronounce it, all of it.
#12 - Sensual
Bug was very impressed with Nigel’s talent for all things oral.
#13 - Death
He told him it would all be okay, that he would be alright, and it was the first and last time he lied to him.
#14 - Sex
Bug is still kind of funny about sex (he still gets a bit red when he talks about it, which is a might childish, but that’s fine with Nigel because words don’t matter much late at night).
#15 - Touch
It was Nigel’s second day of work before they bumped into each other.
#16 - Weakness
Soon enough, he realized his height was both an advantage and a weakness when it came to Bug.
#17 - Tears
You don’t know why the tears are coming out now, but you’ll be damned before you let go of him until you find out.
#18 - Speed
The first time Gil took him on a roller coaster, he was terrified-not by the ride itself, but by the thought of how insufferable Nigel was going to be when he found out he’d enjoyed himself.
#19 - Wind
Before, the ice and wind would have left him flat on his back on the sidewalk, but now, it only presses him closer to Nigel.
#20 - Freedom
He never realized how much he enjoyed talking with her until his mum stopped calling after he told her they’d moved in together.
#21 - Life
His father had called two days later, and in the middle of a not-quite-thrilling conversation about the weather, she snatched the phone out of his hand and demanded to know when they were going to start adopting children.
#22 - Jealousy
Watching the way the light glints off the scalpel, Nigel decides that maybe he should rescind his last comment about Sidney’s bottom.
#23 - Hands
They didn’t shake hands when they met.
#24 - Taste
He doesn’t regret the loss of his kitchen as much as he regrets all the years he spent thinking microwavable rice tasted pretty good.
#25 - Devotion
The first thing he learned, really learned, about Bug, was that he had trouble making friends, but once he did, he kept them for life..
#26 - Forever
He was lying in the hotel room in Las Vegas, wondering why two weeks had never seemed this long before.
#27 - Blood
There was so much blood on the ground outside the van, that’s what Nigel thinks as he steps back and watches the man from the club they’d been chasing let go of Woody’s hand, and he doesn’t feel any fear this time, any panic, doesn’t even feel anything except satisfaction, watching the blood spread once more.
#28 - Sickness
“I might not be able to say ‘in sickness and in health’ and have it mean something legally, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to mean it, so stop being such a baby and take the damn medicine.”
#29 - Melody
Nigel started it, then Jordan joined in, and Pollack and Woody and Matt and Lily and Brandau and eventually Bug and Garret do too, because really, they are having a good time, having a good time.
#30 - Star
He’s only slightly peeved when Bug tells him that it’s not a shooting star, but more like a meteor.
#31 - Home
“Nigel, I am not doing this, you are out of your mind, and I’ve got half a mind to kill you after I hanghello Mum, it’s Heshy, how are you?”
#32 - Confusion
He doesn’t remember buying leopard print socks, or t-shirts with farm animals embroidered on them, or boxers with leprechauns, but they keep showing up in his hamper anyway.
#33 - Fear
He hasn’t moved since the gunshots, since Nigel dropped the phone and started swearing and all the shouting started.
#34 - Lightning/Thunder
When the power went out for the third time, Bug had to agree with Nigel that maybe it was a sign that the world wasn’t yet ready for his documentary on fireflies.
#35 - Bonds
“Does Woody know you took those?”
#36 - Market
It’s sticky and hot and humid and crowded and Bug is arguing with his cousin Amita in a language he’s never heard and a voice he’s never heard Bug use before, in a land he never thought he’d see.
#37 - Technology
It still makes him laugh, thinking about the first time Bug asked him what ‘colon-right-parenthesis’ meant.
#38 - Gift
Bug was the first person to give him a Christmas gift in Boston, even if it was just a book that he no longer wanted.
#39 - Smile
His first impression of Nigel had been one of height and hair and accent and way too many teeth to all fit in that one smile.
#40 - Innocence
He only has one picture of both of them, and it’s the only time Nigel will ever meet Jasdeep.
#41 - Completion
It was becoming a rule of Nigel’s apartment, that there would always be at least one piece missing from the puzzle set.
#42 - Clouds
That one looked like a duck-that one looks like a pentatomidae-that one looks like Boris Karloff-and there’s a turtle-and a dragon.
#43 - Sky
Bug found himself humming the theme song at least three times a day, and afterwards wishing someone would just take the damn sky from them already.
#44 - Heaven
Drunk Buggles was a fascinating person to talk to.
#45 - Hell
He was never letting Nigel buy drinks again.
#46 - Sun
Bug spent two long hours spreading aloe vera over his face and neck and shoulders, cursing Nigel-the-suntan-lotion-‘but I burn so easily’-hog.
#47 - Moon
He was singing about pizza and eyes and the moon and oh God Bug was never letting Nigel have red wine again.
#48 - Waves
Their flight touched down at eleven thirty PM in Oahu, and first thing, Nigel insists on wading in the ocean.
#49 - Hair
Nigel had started growing his out about the time Bug cut all his off.
#50 - Supernova
No one even bothered trying to act shocked when they finally came out.
