01. Comfort
They lost almost a whole squad -- only one pilot left -- and all Hobbie can do is hold Wes and try to convince him it's not his fault.
02. Kiss
They were both drunk and celebrating, because that's what you do when you were sure you'd all die and you don't, and really, it meant nothing -- but something always changes when you kiss your best friend, even if it takes a while.
03. Soft
Hobbie says bacta makes his skin soft, and Wes always nods when he says it because it makes Wedge facepalm and mutter, "Don't want to think about how you know that."
04. Pain
He reflects, some time later, that it wouldn't have felt nearly as good if it didn't hurt that little bit.
05. Potatoes
"Chips," Wes tells him, and Hobbie stares at the plate dubiously for a moment before saying, "Chips of what?"
06. Rain
You don't get caught in the rain unawares on Coruscant: it's more a case of knowing fine well when the next downpour's scheduled for and just being too busy making out in the alley behind a club to remember that you've got to walk home.
07. Chocolate
Hobbie's not really sure why Wes was making chocolate cookies in the first place; he supposes the other pilot must have told him, at some point, but that was before the melted stuff dropped on Hobbie's neck and Wes decided to lick it off.
08. Happiness
"I love you," and being this happy is a hurt like having bacta in your eyes: a really, really good one.
09. Telephone
Wes groans and asks what sane person would comm them at nine in the morning, and when Hobbie says it's probably Wedge, he answers, "Exactly."

Hobbie was pretending to be annoyed with Wes, but when his breath's warm in his ear like that, well, the universe could end and he wouldn't care.
11. Name
"Derek Klivian," he introduces himself as; and Wes -- fairly drunk by now -- giggles and replies, "Must be a fun hobby, teachin' folk to spell that."
12. Sensual
There's something comical about the thought of being dragged into a storage closet for a kiss, but when Wes actually does it as they're already running five minutes late for a briefing, it feels pretty damn good.

Wes is dead, and Hobbie thinks he's dead too as he goes through the forced-but-still-familiar motions of Imperial life.

Their apartment has two bedrooms, but everyone knows only one is ever used -- they're all just too polite to bring it up.

Wes flies and shoots and kills, and he's pretty vaping strong -- but all it takes is Hobbie's hand sliding down his side to make him want to surrender everything.

Hobbie can never ever say no to Wes, even when he knows they're going to end up with a week of kitchen duty -- but really, he doesn't mind at all.

Wes Janson doesn't cry, he just doesn't, and Hobbie's not sure whether to be honoured or terrified when he breaks down in front of him.

They were fighting to see who'd get the last of the whiskey, but somehow it turned into a contest to see who could get the other out of their clothes first instead.

Hobbie keeps saying they need to fix that bedroom window, because it can get pretty cold when the wind whistles through the tiny gap in the frame, and Wes nods and says he'll get right on that; but he never does, because it's easier just to hug Hobbie closer when it's cold.

"Because it was Tierfon or the Academy," Wes jokes, and Hobbie smiles and says, "I went to the Academy -- you chose wisely."

Hobbie hugs him tight for a second, then punches him on the shoulder and swears that if Wes ever does that again, he'll kill him himself; and Wes grins and messes up Hobbie's hair and says he'll let him.
22. Jealousy
Wes flirts all the time, and Hobbie knows he'll never stop, but he still hates every girl and guy in the galaxy who dares to flirt back.
23. Hands
Oh, he does it just to torture him, Hobbie's sure -- and eventually he grabs Wes' wrist to stop him, then stands up in the middle of the meeting and tugs the other pilot to his feet beside him and says, "Wes and I have an emergency we need to attend to, back in five minutes--" and as they leave, Tycho murmurs with a smirk, "Only five?"
24. Taste
Wes always tastes like a mix of candy and whiskey, and Hobbie thinks it's the best taste in the galaxy.
25. Devotion
People joke and laugh and say "When are you guys gonna get married?" and only half of them mean "When are you gonna find girls?"
26. Forever
Wes insists that it's never going to change, because he'll never let it change, and for once Hobbie lets himself be reassured.
27. Blood
"Y'need to stop getting in bar fights," Hobbie scolds him quietly, and Wes grins ruefully and nods and does it all again next week, because the after-fight care is worth the risk of being picked up by the MPs and is certainly worth the scolding.
28. Sickness
The guy says he had a bad fever and that's why he couldn't fly at Yavin last month; Hobbie eyes the combination of haunted eyes and slight bouncing and says, "You're not still sick, are you?"
29. Melody
Wes has no idea what the song is, but Hobbie's right -- Dllr would have liked it -- and he grips his hand for a second before grinning wryly and moving back to his drink.
30. Star
"They'll name a new one after me one day, you'll see," and Hobbie snorts and says, "Yeah, it'll be a system full of monkey-lizards."
31. Home
They don't really need proper homes on any one planet, because home is an odd sort of concept that isn't so much a place as a feeling you get when you're with someone you don't ever want to leave.
32. Confusion
"Wes, why are we painting Wedge's door pink?"

Every time Hobbie crashes -- which isn't as often as people say, but enough to notice -- every time, Wes' heart stops and his insides freeze and he's never quite sure how he shoots down TIEs in the next minute or so.

It's silly for a starfighter pilot to be even a little scared during a storm, but Wes doesn't tease him for it and that's another reason why Hobbie loves him.
35. Bonds
'Wingmates' is what they tell everyone, and it's become such an obvious euphemism in Starfighter Command that whenever an off-duty pilot says they're someone's wingmate, they get a knowing look.

"We're supposed to be getting the twins some-- Wes-- Wes, Jaina and Jacen can't have that!"

For all Wes says he doesn't get computers, he sure doesn't seem to have any problems slicing into Hobbie's files and switching things round, just to confuse him.

"But it's not my lifeday," Hobbie reminds him, puzzled; and Wes grins brightly and says, "What, it's gotta be your lifeday for me to get you somethin' nice?"

"Hobbie Klivian never smiles," people say, but Wes knows they're wrong -- he smiles all the time -- you just have to know what he'll smile at.

Wes knows his innocent expression never fools anyone who knows him, so he likes it when Hobbie seems to fall for it, because he knows it's for another reason and it makes him smile.

The light on Coruscant isn't real sunlight -- it's been reflected between plenty of mirrors in its journey from Coruscant Prime -- but it's still a pretty good feeling to stand on a balcony with your best friend and watch it "set".

The actual battle was a massacre, so whenever anyone mentions Endor, Wes turns the discussion to the Ewoks, and Hobbie facepalms and advises them to pick something else to talk about quickly.

Wes gets seasick on water ships, which makes Hobbie laugh, which makes Wes find something to do that'll distract him from being sick and stop Hobbie from laughing; it's usually pretty effective.

Every time he messes Hobbie's hair up during a briefing, Wedge gives them both a pointed look, and Wes just grins at him.
