Gaara glared at the simple gold band strung on a chain that was presented to him, eyes dimming with scorn, stating flatly that the day of his birth was not a cause for gifts -- but Lee pressed the ring into his palm and closed his fingers around it anyway, smiling.
02. Hero
Lee once asked him if he had a hero, and after a long pause, Gaara replied with a "yes"; when Lee inquired as to whom it was, however, Gaara made a little choking noise and averted his face without a reply.
03. Memory
Though Gaara relates his nightmarish past to Lee in an emotionless voice, Lee knows that it affects him more than he lets on, and gives him a hug that Gaara doesn't quite show he needs.
04. Box
It took time, but Lee finally figured out how to open the confines Gaara's heart were encased in, and how to close them when the other became uncomfortable.
05. Run
Gaara sometimes wished he could be as physically strong and fit as Lee, but when he watched the tight jumpsuit cling tighter as the self-proclaimed beautiful green beast ran laps, he decided that all he needed was to appreciate the effects it had on Lee.
06. Hurricane
Seeing Lee perform his Konoha Hurricane technique excited Gaara, and he wondered if the older boy would be as... flexible... in bed.
07. Wings
If Gaara closes his eyes and concentrates, he can almost imagine the steady sound of Lee punching the log as the heavy flutter of white-feathered wings -- and then he snorts at the idea of Lee being an angel.
08. Cold
Gaara hates how cold it can get in Konoha because sometimes the ground freezes and it's difficult for him to summon sand from the earth; Lee loves it because it gives him an excuse to be closer to Gaara.
09. Red
Gaara figured Lee would hate the color of his hair since it was so reminiscent of blood, but was pleasantly surprised and aroused when Lee purred into his ear, "I love your hair."
10. Drink
It was an unknown fact to everyone except Gaara himself that the redhead believed the people of Konoha took water for granted, so when Lee's offered glass of water was refused, Gaara felt he should explain by saying, "Water is precious," inwardly pleased when Lee nodded in understanding.

On the night of the full moon, Gaara gives him a narrow-eyed, close-lipped look that is nothing short of predatory, and Lee wonders for a moment if Shukaku is really completely sealed away before there's a mouth devouring his.
12. Temptation
Lee sits and openly gawks at Gaara's flawless, porcelain, ambrosial body, and when the demon vessel asks him what he's staring at, he can no longer resist the enticement to mark that perfect skin with bites.
13. View
While he was no artist, Lee couldn't help but be mesmerized when Gaara stood among the autumn leaves of Konoha, the sunset dappling through the trees, looking like some sort of ethereal phoenix.
14. Music
Lee insisted that Gaara go to a festival with him since he had never been to one before, but by the time it was over, Gaara still didn't see what was so great about the loud extravaganza, too enraptured by the look of awe on Lee's face when the band played.
15. Silk
There were times when Lee regretted not being richer and not owning any nice clothes to feel under his fingers, but he quickly got over it when he remembered he had Gaara's unblemished, silken skin.

Lee always felt a little more confident during missions now because he knew they encompassed each other's needs -- he could take care of close-range combat while Gaara had his back with wide-range attacks.

The black pools of emotive determination that were Lee's eyes, once thought of as ridiculous and naïve by Gaara, were now seen by him as an assurance because whenever he looked directly into them, he can see that perhaps he has a future beyond monstrosity and an overcast viewpoint on life.

When Gaara morosely told him that he didn't have a dream, Lee just smiled and patiently explained how he didn't believe that was true in a conversation that left an optimistic (albeit tiny) smile on Gaara's face.

Gaara asked Lee why he insisted on lighting a candle every time they had sex, and when Lee, stammering and blushing, said that it was so he could see Gaara's face when he came, the younger boy's own ears turned red and he muttered "idiot" under his breath.

It's been a source of frustration that has followed Lee for his entire life, being jeered and described as having no talent -- but Gaara knows how wrong the taunts are when he stares at Lee's entrancingly limber body, silently wondering how the Konoha ninja can bend like that.

Lee cherished each moment he was with Gaara, not seeing his frequent silences as an obstruction because he knew Gaara just needed space to figure out some of the intricacies of love on his own.

In one of his more philosophical moments, Gaara relates to Lee how he thinks his life has felt like a tumultuous journey full of obstacles, but when Lee good-naturedly says he thinks Gaara's journey is only beginning, Gaara can't help but reconsider and decidedly prefer Lee's analysis over his own.

While they were out for a walk, Gaara suddenly said, "People are foolhardy," and when Lee, startled, asked him why, the younger boy responded while looking pointedly at a street-corner fortuneteller with eyes that weren't entirely vicious, "They think lies make the pain go away."

"You shouldn't waste that," Gaara said blandly, but the protest died on his lips when Lee slid the rapidly melting cube slowly down the flushed skin of his neck while feverishly whispering, "Isn't it for a good cause?"

It came as a surprise to Gaara when he overheard the Haruno girl speaking of Lee's tireless efforts to exercise while in the hospital, and felt a pang inside him when she said how devastating it was to watch him collapse a breath away from his set goal, knowing that he was the cause of it.

Gaara once confided in Lee and told him that when he was younger, he occasionally thought that it might have been better to have been forgotten completely than to be remembered as a monster; Lee asked him if he still felt that way sometimes, and there was a noticeable change in Gaara's eyes when he replied with, "There's no reason to."

Lee never pegged Gaara as a dancer, but there was something about the other's writhing and twisting against lush sheets, or even in his natural element of sand, that was undoubtedly rhythmic.

Lee had suggested once that Gaara take up taijutsu, and Gaara replied that he saw no need for strenuous physical exertion when the sand would always protect him; Lee then whined how much more interesting sex would be if Gaara at least steadily practiced stretches, and the redhead sputtered incoherently before lapsing into embarrassed silence.

He would never admit it, but Gaara secretly enjoyed how Lee would touch him and treat him with utmost care, since he knew the older boy didn't do it because he thought Gaara was weak.

When Lee explained how he held no grudge against the world because not everyone saw only knowing taijutsu as a disability, Gaara decided at that point that he would try to follow Lee's example.

Lee teasingly told him once that he didn't know long he'd be able to resist the temptation of ravishing him while in his Kazekage uniform; Gaara dryly responded that it was hardly diplomatic for Lee to be molesting him while he was at a meeting with the Hokage.

Lee knows how much Gaara has been hurt it the past, but he also knows that the other boy is trying hard to move on, and so he waits patiently for the right time to tell him that he loves him, knowing that the wait will not be completely in vain no matter how Gaara responds.

Whenever they had sex, Lee always begged Gaara to say something to him, not really sure what he wanted to hear except for the throaty, rumbling purrs of the redhead's voice.

"Don't be so literal," Lee encouraged him amiably when Gaara failed to spot the shape of a turtle in the clouds above them that he himself pointed out, "and don't try to find it -- just look."

"Gaara..." Lee's voice came in a breathless whimper, feeling his arousal growing as Gaara deliberately panted hard in his ear with the promise of a pleasurable distraction, trying desperately to keep his eyes riveted on the lunar phenomenon happening in the sky, "I've never seen one of these before!"

Gaara thought it was difficult to keep Lee down to earth because he had energy that was impossible to keep bound.
