01; Comfort
Deidara could never find much comfort in the awkward embrace of Sasori’s puppet body, but when his master shifted so that the bed covers wrapped warmly around him, then… well, he didn’t have much right to complain.
02; Kiss
The kiss had left Sasori shaken and irritated; he had gone more than forty years without having to endure the insult of the fabled first kiss, and now the young artist was pressing his lips against his forehead affectionately.
03; Soft
For the first few weeks Deidara used the excuse that his master’s bed sheets were just softer than his, and so Sasori found it strange when he spent more time curled up against him than taking advantage of the sheets, happy to discard the covers altogether.
04; Pain
The first time Sasori ever hurt Deidara was when he forcefully grabbed the boy’s hair and slammed his face onto the cold pavement below; he felt so bad afterwards that he actually hugged him of his own free will, much to Deidara’s delight.
05; Potatoes
“Potatoes,” Deidara yelled as he threw handfuls of them at his master, angrily adding “potatoes won’t fucking explode, bastard.”
06; Rain
Deidara had a strange obsession with his hair that Sasori could never quite comprehend, and in all honesty he didn’t really need to; he was content enough to hold the umbrella for him as they walked through the busy streets side by side, but somehow never together.
07; Chocolate
Whenever Rei-sama got chocolate for Deidara it brought out the child he really was at heart; he always managed to get it all over his face, and so Sasori was obliged to lick it off.
08; Happiness
Happiness doesn’t come easily to those who use indulgence in murder and mutilation as a distraction, and it certainly doesn’t come easily when Deidara explodes another one of his puppets, all the while wearing that stupid grin of his.
09; Telephone
Sasori didn’t realise that they had slipped into a relationship until he overheard Deidara and Kisame ordering pizza that day; the blonde boy casually gave out his master’s bank account number before putting the receiver down with a ‘click.’
10; Ears
Deidara once bit down on Sasori’s ear a little too hard, and sunk back as he waited to be scolded; however, to his surprise the puppeteer only seemed excited by the blood that now decorated Deidara’s lips.
11; Name
Sasori had never really appreciated the gentle quality of Deidara’s Iwa accent until it was his name the boy was gasping breathlessly against the hot desert sands.
12; Sensual
It was more like an out of body experience rather than a physical one, on those dreary days when Sasori would watch himself tenderly hug the boy who just couldn’t bear to grin any longer.
13; Death
It had not been a good day so far for Deidara: he lost his right arm in the morning, was bothered by Tobi only moments later, and oh… his master was dead with two swords callously thrust into his corpse; nope, definitely not a good day at all.
14; Sex
Sasori had never been a sexual person by any stretch of the imagination, but somehow he grew to tolerate Deidara’s poisonous addiction to its violent confines, and began to provide the lack of control he craved.
15; Touch
Deidara’s touches were timid and gentle at first, but over time they became more self-assured and satisfying, so unlike Sasori who had always touched the boy as if he fucking owned him.
16; Weakness
Sasori’s biggest weakness was that he always wanted rather too much of something, evident in the way he constantly pushed Deidara further and further away with his macabre desires; and this weakness certainly would have been his downfall, had the boy not always came back to him just one more time.
17; Tears
Deidara never cried at Sasori’s ‘funeral’, as there was no one around to see his tears anyway; instead he pulled the two dull blades from his chest, wrapped an arm warmly around his waist and proceeded to tell him how his day had been in sad whispers.
18; Speed
Deidara worked with a speed that Sasori could never compete with, but in the end it only really meant one thing; he’ll just rush himself to death, and you’ll be around long after him…
19; Wind
It was an unusually windy day when they met, and Deidara’s first though was of how childlike Sasori looked; his second thought was of how oddly attractive Sasori was, a revelation which was somewhat unwelcome in his mind.
20; Freedom
Deidara had left Iwagakure with the sole purpose of being free - well, and because of all those people he just so happened to murder, but that’s far from the point - yet soon enough he found himself bowing to Sasori, always with the word “master” fresh on his lips; it was then he realised that freedom simply had nothing to offer him.
21; Life
After years of ridicule and discontent at Iwagakure Deidara finally began to enjoy his life once he joined Akatsuki: during the day he would play with Kisame as he pretended he didn’t like Tobi, and sometimes he would just walk around aimlessly with Itachi and Zetsu; but best of all, in the mornings he would wake up with Sasori.
22; Jealousy
There was an absurd amount of skill in the way Sasori would assemble his puppets, pushing his screwdriver into the gaps between joints and putting oil in just the right place with his fingers so that they didn’t squeak or fault; so much so that Deidara could only look on in awe and ask “how comes you never pay me that much attention, danna?”
23; Hands
There was a time in their relationship when Deidara was afraid that Sasori would turn his back on him; luckily, Deidara’s mouth didn’t suffer from the poor gag reflexes his hands unfortunately did.
24; Taste
Sasori’s kisses were cold and horrible, and the taste always left Deidara feeling unnerved, but somehow that wasn’t ever enough to stop him; Deidara had never been right in the head, anyway.
25; Devotion
Signs of devotion were always evident, from small things like letting Sasori carve his eye out, to bigger gestures, like hugs in the early morning.
26; Forever
Forever was a long time, and Deidara had never really planned to live quite that long; truth be told, he had only stuck around this long because his master was going to be around for all eternity.
27; Blood
Blood makes Deidara happy, and he likes the sight (taste, feel, smell, touch) of it on his fingertips; try as he might, Sasori can’t help but feel a little scared by the boy’s twisted smile.
28; Sickness
“You’re… sick, you know that, un?” Deidara asked, somewhat impressed by the graphic ritual of Sasori turning living, breathing humans into his morbid play things.
29; Melody
Tobi soon discovered that the melody of a loud CD was enough to drown out the noise of his neighbours, and gratefully lived his life in relative peace; albeit there was that one incident where the batteries ran out that he just couldn’t forget, and- ew.
30; Star
Despite being the top student in the Suna, Sasori had never really had a real friend in his life; and while he wasn’t quite sure what Deidara was to him, he figured the title of friend was good enough.
31; Home
“Home is where the heart is,” they always said, but Sasori’s heart was lying discarding with the rest of his flesh-body somewhere; “Deidara is the next best thing,” Sasori always said.
32; Confusion
There was no happily ever after for Sasori and Deidara, just a sort of dull acceptance hidden under a mask of confusion and anger.
33; Fear
Deidara had never been scared of Sasori, so to speak; moreover he was just curious to as when his master would lash out at him next, and he smiled whenever he tried to figure out Sasori’s unstructured games of abuse.
34; Lightning/Thunder
Deidara was like thunder and lightning; there one moment and then gone in a flash, and Sasori would always count the seconds for the echoes of thunder that told him the boy was back, at least for now.
35; Bonds
It wasn’t just about the physical contact in any sense, and though they never managed to say it with words, there was always the flicker of “I love you” in the air when their bodies met.
36; Market
They always drew the oddest stares when they walked through the market, and Deidara could never figure out whether it was because of their matching cloaks and hats, or because of the way their figures would occasionally link together.
37; Technology
Never being too keen on technology Sasori had failed to taking a liking to Deidara’s electronic eye piece, and so always favoured his eye patch; and if it had been in his nature, Sasori would have recommended a pirate hat too.
38; Gift
Not quite sure what to do when Sasori handed him a wrapped up box on his nineteenth birthday, the blonde settled for showing his gratitude in a much more physical way; and after he actually opened the present Sasori wasn’t sure if he’d ever be able to pry the boy off of him again.
39; Smile
Deidara had made it his goal to make Sasori smile genuinely at least once in his life time, but it seemed more often that not that his overbearing and excitable nature only painted bemused looks on the puppet master’s face; yet still, somewhat foolishly, Deidara never really stopped trying.
40; Innocence
Sasori wasn’t surprised that Deidara was a virgin when he came to him, but even after three years he still seemed so… innocent; maybe it was the way he was so eager to comply when Sasori held him down against their worn bed sheets and forced his hips against his, or the way he was just so damn scared of getting it wrong.
41; Completion
There was an unbearable silence when Sasori finally told Deidara his puppet body was complete, only broken by the echo of “will you leave me?” throughout the room; and finally “no, no, danna, there’s beauty in this art that I still need to discover, un.”
42; Clouds
Sasori hates being paired with Deidara more often than not, because the boy just cannot shut the Hell up, and it is not endearing at all; “that cloud looks like a bird, danna… and that one too… but not as much as that one- look, look!”
43; Sky
He likes it under the hazy autumn sky, when Deidara drags him off to lay in the red-gold-auburn leaves; it’s cool enough for those thick Akatsuki cloaks to hide their bodies, and so they can kiss there quite contentedly and whisper things that make them feel normal.
44; Heaven
Deidara doesn’t believe in a concept as fixed as Heaven, and although he hates heartfelt clichés, when he’s with Sasori… well, he can become a hypocrite.
45; Hell
Sasori’s always believed in Hell, inspired by those fiery tales his grandmother would tell him as a child, and not a day goes by when he doesn’t remember those stories and condemn himself; no matter how childish those thoughts are, each time he remembers he feels it’s a just enough reason to use the time he has with Deidara wisely.
46; Sun
Bright light filters in through Sasori’s window, and the dusty sunshine lights up his face; and Deidara can’t help but sigh as he observes the contrived perfection of his body, no matter how little affection it offers him nowadays.
47; Moon
Soft moon light flows through their room, illuminating them ever so slightly as Deidara murmurs something in his sleep about nothing in particular; and Sasori can’t help but watch his partner (lover?) as he slowly realises he won’t be getting any sleep tonight.
48; Waves
Deidara tiptoes across the water and dips his fingers into the gentle waves, smiling warmly as he reaches off to rubs the smudged oil from his master’s face.
49; Hair
“Look, this one has nice hair, danna… I don’t know why I don’t just leave you,” Deidara says angrily as he picks the lifeless Gaara up by his wrist and points manically at the Kazekage’s red hair; and the truth of the matter is, Sasori can’t tell whether he’s joking or not, and so brushes his hand through his own blood-and-who-knows-what stained hair timidly.
50; Supernova
A thousand stars exploded in his eyes as the room span, and the young artist happily curled up in his master’s lap, letting the sake pound through his veins.
