Fandom: Good Omens
Pairing: Anathema Device X Newton Pulsifer
theme set: Delta
Rating: PG
#01 - Air- Anathema sighs as the wind grabs the leaf pile she spent all afternoon on and send it flying through the air; Newt pulls a leaf out of her hair and reaches for a rake.
#02 - Apples- Neither Anathema nor Newt need to ask why the Them suddenly decided to pay a visit, for they can see the apples tucked away in back pockets.
#03 - Beginning- In the beginning Anathema slept with him because it was what the prophecy decreed; now she does it just for fun.
#04 - Bugs- Anathema doesn’t care how many viruses her computer tells her it has, Newt is not going to “just take a look at it.”
#05 - Coffee- His daughter’s hair is coffee colored and wavy like her mother’s, and Newt wouldn’t have it any other way.
#06 - Dark- When she first saw him she had decided he was dark but not handsome; now she can’t associate him with dark, but she thinks he’s quite handsome.
#07 - Despair- Newt’s mother isn’t all that sure what to make of the women sitting across from her, but she keeps such thoughts to herself; she’d begun to despair that Newt would never settle down.
#08 - Doors- For some inexplicable reason Anathema slams every door she comes through; Newt has come to be able to distinguish the difference between an everyday sort of slam and the type of slam that signifies his wife is angry.
#09 - Drink- The perfect summer night, in both of their opinions, is watching the sunset as they sit in the porch swing drinking lemonade together.
#10 - Duty- The disbanding of the Witch Finder Army and the destruction of the second book technically freed them from the daily task of clipping suspicious newspaper articles, but they still do it anyway.
#11 - Earth- There are days that Newt looks out of his front door and for some reason he gets the strangest feeling that the Earth owes him something; he then usually looks back inside to where Anathema is and goes “Oh yeah.”
#12 - End- Anathema sits on the end of the bed and watches as Newt walks around the living room with their five year old daughter on his shoulders.
#13 - Fall- Newt holds her arm on icy patches to help her keep her balance; Anathema lets him do it so she can do the same for him without hurting his pride.
#14 - Fire- Most books on witchcraft claimed witches danced naked around fires on moonlit nights, but Anathema only does it if Newt joins her.
#15 - Flexible- The old Newt would have never done things like living in such an out-of the-way place or eating so much organic food; the new Newt is married to Anathema, which makes him much more flexible.
#16 - Flying- The proposal that comes flying out of his mouth has none of the fancy words or dramatic flair that it had when he rehearsed it in his head, but Anathema is saying yes and that makes it okay.
#17 - Food- Anathema never thought she’d find somebody else whose favorite food was ham and pineapple pizza.
#18 - Foot- Newt always sits on the foot of bed when he puts on his shoes in the morning, for that is best vantage point for watching Anathema brush her hair.
#19 - Grave- The Wasabi’s final resting place is in the corner of their backyard, where it provides a great clubhouse for some of the neighborhood children (including their own)
#20 - Green- Newt’s green eyes look up at her from her son’s face and Anathema can’t help the calming feeling that spreads over her; those eyes have always been able to do that.
#21 - Head- The newspaper clipping slides to the floor, and they bump heads as they both reach for it at exactly the same time.
#22 - Hollow- Newt has an empty space in his mouth from the time when he was 13 and tripped face first into his mother’s coffee table, knocking out his right back molar; Anathema has a scar on her back from an incident with a firework when she was 10.
#23 - Honor- Even though she’s clicking her tongue in disapproval, Anathema can’t help but feel honored as she makes Newt an ice pack to ease the hurt of the bruise he got defending her from the lecherous man at the bar.
#24 - Hope- Anathema’s hands tremble as she waits for news of her sister and as of yet unborn niece; Newt grabs one and gives it a squeeze.
#25 - Light- Newt has no shining armor or big white horse, but when he stubs his toe on the dresser at night because he doesn’t want to wake her with a light Anathema knows she’s found her knight.
#26 - Lost- As Newt lies in bed with Anathema curled up next to him he thanks whatever force it is that decreed he would get lost on THAT day.
#27 - Metal- The ring Newt gives her is silver, simple, and has a sapphire instead of a diamond; Anathema loves it more then any other piece of jewelry she’s ever owned.
#28 - New- For a wedding present Newt emptied his savings account to make up the final £100 she needed to buy the cottage, a gesture she held in more esteem then any of the shiny new gadgets her family sent her.
#29 - Old- The bed that came with the cottage has old mattress springs that stick out and poke Newt in uncomfortable places; not that he minds as long as Anathema sleeps with him in it, of course.
#30 - Peace- “It’s your turn.” Anathema mumbles into her pillow as the baby’s cries disturb the peace of the night from the crib in the next room.
#31 - Poison- Newt’s parents are looking at the tea as if they suspect she put some kind of poisonous brew in it; Anathema grits her teeth and wishes she had.
#32 - Pretty- Newt doesn’t tell her because he knows she hates to hear it, but he thinks she’s the prettiest woman in the entire world.
#33 - Rain- With the rain plastering his hair to his forehead and his clothes sticking to his scrawny frame Newt resembles nothing more then a homeless puppy; Anathema has always been a dog person.
#34 - Regret- There are days when Anathema regrets allowing Newt to talk her into getting rid of the second book; on those days Newt hands her a mystery novel and gets out of her way for a few hours.
#35 - Roses- Newt settles back with a sigh of relief as he watches Anathema talk happily with his mother about the roses in her garden.
#36 - Secret- Newt admires Anathema’s short-clad legs when she isn’t looking; Anathema pretends not to notice.
#37 - Snakes- The first week in town Newt runs over a snake with his car on accident; Anathema doesn’t speak to him for a day, and he still gets glares from that strange man in sunglasses who hangs around with that book seller that occasionally comes to dinner.
#38 - Snow- Anathema runs her fingers through Newt’s hair with the excuse of brushing snow out of it.
#39 - Solid- He may not be the brightest, nor the most world wary, or the most handsome man she’s ever met, but he’s the most solid presence in her life.
#40 - Spring- The edge of the table catches her knee as she springs up to answer the phone; Newt pretends he didn’t notice.
#41 - Stable-Their life is neither exciting nor is it eventful, but it is stable, and both of them are thankful for that.
#42 - Strange- Windows fly up as neighbors try to find the source of the strange mix of backfiring, cursing, and a cheerful voice informing someone that “car are not working"; Anathema merely rolls her eyes and wishes she had never heard of a Wasbi.
#43 - Summer- Summer brings the first anniversary of their marriage and Newt attempts to celebrate by cooking them both dinner; Anathema prepares to dial take out.
#44 - Taboo- When Anathema first brings home the new broom she glares at Newt as if daring him to say anything; he wisely keeps silent.
#45 - Ugly- The burgundy and lime green striped couch may be the ugliest piece of furniture either of them have ever seen, but it’s got just enough room for the two of them to snuggle together and share a bowel of popcorn; thus, it stays.
#46 - War- A women on a red motor bike stops in front of the cottage for a second before riding on; Newt can’t shake the feeling that trouble is coming.
#47 - Water- Newt’s sister never really understood why her brother always left the room during the scene in “Wizard of Oz” where the wicked witch was melted.
#48 - Welcome- When the doorbell broke neither Anathema nor Newt bothered to fix it; anybody who would be welcome in their house already knew to just come on in and grab a seat.
#49 - Winter- Every winter Anathema gets a cold, and must endure Newt’s hovering because she refuses to take any of the mass produced cold medicines found in the super market.
#50 - Wood- The old wood of the cottage creaked in the night as the cold wind blew all around it; Newt and Anathema snuggled closer together under the comforter and slept on. >
