Ivan/Sheba; Golden Sun; gamma set

Jul 17, 2006 21:59

Fandom: Golden Sun
Pairing: Ivan/Sheba ("windshipping")
Theme set: Gamma
Rating: PG-13ish, I suppose
Notes: Sorry if anyone's been waiting for these two; I really have no good excuse for taking this long. ^^; Most of these are during the games or after the games, in no particular order - many are speculation, but I'm relatively sure all are possible within canon.

Ivan and Sheba

#01 - Ring

She still remembered the way his eyes had looked when he gave it to her - betraying his nervousness, but so sincere.

#02 - Hero

After the quest they were called heroes, but the only thing that could make Ivan feel suited to that title was Sheba's affectionate glance.

#03 - Memory

She closed her eyes and concentrated and his memories were hers in a moment - he didn't even try to guard them - and she saw that he was just like her, with nowhere and nobody to return to; now those violet eyes were full of hurt and defiance, and she wished more than anything that she had kept her mouth shut.

#04 - Box

Sometimes when he was upset, Ivan would shut himself away from everyone, and even Sheba and all of her powers couldn't get through to him - not even when she pushed herself up against that mental wall and, pressing her lips to it, begged to be let through.

#05 - Run

"I'll race you," she said, flashing that mischievous grin - the one that Ivan loved to see, and that only came out on days like today - and of course he accepted.

#06 - Hurricane

As she cast the spell he watched the movement of her lips out of the corner of his eye - unsure of why he was looking, unsure about her and everything surrounding her, and finding it difficult to concentrate on the battle before them.

#07 - Wings

He had a dream, once, after meeting her, that she was falling from someplace high and was asking him for wings with which to save herself; she sounded desperate, but Ivan forgot the dream within a few minutes of waking.

#08 - Cold

When she had been traveling with Saturos and Menardi she had always been cold; but when she had begun her journey with Felix and the others the color had started to return to her world, and now that everyone was together she could finally feel her hands and feet again.

#09 - Red

It was all she could see, surrounding her, everywhere; and as she resurfaced gasping to the night and the campfire she was so scared for that future and for her friends and for herself - but Ivan was there, his arms were around her shoulders, and he knew what it was like - she didn't have to explain.

#10 - Drink

Neither of them had ever had more than a sip of alcohol at one sitting; so when, sitting together in the inn's main room, they saw the way Garet and Jenna were eyeing each other over their ale mugs, neither could decide whether they wanted to be sitting closer together or farther apart.

#11 - Midnight

In such troubled times they dreaded the possibility of dreaming; sometimes when they were exhausted and the night was far from over they would sit together, awake, and talk about nothing - just to keep from seeing things that they didn't want to see.

#12 - Temptation

Ivan may have been mature for his age, but he was still fifteen, and he was still human - several times while sitting in their room at the inn he had to avert his eyes from the bathroom door and, blushing furiously, try to ignore the sound of running bathwater; the urge to cast a quick Reveal spell was surprisingly possessive.

#13 - View

He had seen the world through countless pairs of eyes, but through Sheba's there was just something about it - it was foreign, yet so familiar that he was humbled, and ashamed, and sad for the things that both their lives were missing.

#14 - Music

After the journey they liked to sit together - on rooftops, in trees, anyplace high - and listen to the wind, sometimes for hours.

#15 - Silk

Ivan dreamed of silken sheets and silken skin, and in the morning he was too ashamed to look at her.

#16 - Cover

When she turned away from the window she met the eyes of a boy, and in that moment she felt the need to cover herself - because those eyes could see in a way that she had thought only hers could, and she was utterly exposed.

#17 - Promise

Sparks played over fingertips as the Shaman's Rod changed hands, and with a show of loyalty and a promise of freedom, time seemed to stand still.

#18 - Dream

He knew, he had known all his life, that wishing for something wouldn't make it come true; so in the beginning he didn't even allow himself to hope.

#19 - Candle

There had been something strange hanging between them all night - something hot and bright and restless, like a burning ember - but it disappeared the moment Ivan lit the candle.

#20 - Talent

There was moonlight in their blood, in both of them - maybe that was what drew them together.

#21 - Silence

When they sat together in silence the others knew that they were sharing all of themselves, gently and inevitably, and so never disturbed them.

#22 - Journey

They had to grow up too fast, and as they sat together they had the air of an old couple sitting on a porch - weary of the world, but not of each other.

#23 - Fire

She was a Jupiter Adept through and through, but the first time Ivan kissed her she felt all of the fire in her being flare alive.

#24 - Strength

There was blood everywhere - splattered on the violet bricks of the walkway, seeping through Ivan's tunic and Isaac's yellow scarf, staining Sheba's hands as she tried in vain to stop the bleeding - but Ivan, half-conscious in Sheba's arms, only mumbled, "Don't worry about us... help Garet and Mia first."

#25 - Mask

Sheba had held up a mask for most of her life - a mask of perfection, of insensitivity, fit for a child of the gods - but in Ivan she encountered someone who could see right through it without even trying, and she couldn't decide whether she was frightened or grateful.

#26 - Ice

When her hand disappeared over the edge of the lighthouse they all froze, and Ivan felt like his world was ending prematurely - without any logical reason, really.

#27 - Fall

She controlled the skies, and so had never been afraid of falling - but falling in love, she realized, was much more frightening and much harder to avoid, and she had no idea what was waiting at the bottom.

#28 - Forgotten

Ivan had found family and she hadn't; after the quest was over Sheba's biggest fear was that he would forget her.

#29 - Dance

Once, while walking through the camp on a windy day, Ivan had spotted Sheba out in the open field; she was spinning in circles under the sky, and he had been unable to look away.

#30 - Body

She came up behind him, put her arms around his waist, nuzzled her face into the nape of his neck and marveled at how real he was.

#31 - Sacred

Lalivero had called her sacred, but Sheba didn't truly understand what it was to be sacred to someone until him.

#32 - Farewells

None of them had wanted to say goodbye when the journey was over, and sometimes Ivan would come out of his house in Contigo to find Sheba standing on the teleport circle, waiting for him.

#33 - World

They meant the world to each other, and it really was as simple as that.

#34 - Formal

Their relationship was never anything formal, because they didn't have the time or the patience - they needed each other too much.

#35 - Fever

Sheba was used to her lack of healing Psynergy, but seeing Ivan's cheeks flushed like that and Mia's hand pressed to his damp forehead - Mia's soothing presence, Mia's soothing words - made her regret it.

#36 - Laugh

Ivan was normally a serious person - friendly, but serious - and whenever he laughed Sheba found herself watching.

#37 - Lies

"Everything will be fine," she whispered, and he nodded without meeting her eyes.

#38 - Forever

"This can't last forever, you know," he murmured, but she only turned her face away from the lighthouse in the distance and buried herself deeper into his arms.

#39 - Overwhelmed

Ivan touched the quill tip to the paper and was suddenly and wonderfully overwhelmed by the feeling of having someone to write to.

#40 - Whisper

Sheba saw her name on the envelope and had to repeat it, had to whisper it to herself twice before she could believe that someone had cared enough to put it there.

#41 - Wait

Even though she hardly knew him, Sheba had felt that Ivan was a comrade, an ally; so when they learned that Hama was his sister she couldn't help but feel betrayed - wait, don't leave me by myself, I don't want to be alone - but of course he heard her, and when they were outside again he smiled at her, very gently - I'm still here.

#42 - Talk

With two Jupiter Adepts, especially two in love, there is never really any need to talk; but Ivan and Sheba did anyway, simply because each liked to hear the sound of the other's voice.

#43 - Search

Even though she knew that home and Ivan's arms were two entirely separate entities, she still felt as though the search for her origins had ended with that first embrace.

#44 - Hope

They were lost little orphans expected to be heroes, and it's a wonder they had any hope left at all; a lot of the time they didn't, but they had each other, and that was close enough.

#45 - Eclipse

Sometimes, in remembering, his guilt would swallow everything else; but he told himself, again and again, that he couldn't have done it - there had been a quest to complete, a world to save; to risk that for her, as Felix had so recklessly done, would have been foolish - right?

#46 - Gravity

They fell on each other as if drawn by gravity, with an intensity that would have been both uncharacteristic and embarrassing in normal circumstances; but something about the quality of the darkness erased all of their inhibitions.

#47 - Highway

Sometimes they would travel together, holding the teleport lapis between their clasped hands.

#48 - Unknown

Sheba had never been so understood before, and she didn't quite know what to make of it.

#49 - Lock

Hearing her laugh for the first time was like seeing the inside of a box that had been locked for years.

#50 - Breathe

In those final moments of the battle, when she finally closed her eyes and let herself breathe, Sheba was hit with a potent vision of the future; it was too bright to see clearly, and that was how she knew that it included him.

[just to clear any stray minds from the gutter, I'd like to clarify that #16 was referring to mind read and not reveal, although I hope my writing's good enough that you figured that out... ^^;]
