Fandom: High School Musical

Pairing: Ryan Evans/ Kelsi Nielson

Theme Set: Beta

Rating:  G

#01 - Walking

When she walked the halls of East High, her music tucked under one hand and her school bag in the other hand, she knew about the other pair of eyes on her, even as she looked down.

#02 - Waltz

Although he was the actor and she was the musician, they both had one thing in common: ballroom dancing on the weekends (she at the piano and he dancing with his sister, of course).

#03 - Wishes

The first time his sister pushed her off of the piano seat, she wished that something good would come along.

#04 - Wonder

When he watched her play the piano, her fingers dancing over the keys, he knew that she was special, and told her so.

#05 - Worry

His sister can be quite mean (he knows from personal experience), and more than once she’s picked on Kelsi for no good reason, leaving him to pick her up.

#06 - Whimsy

After East High, they lose contact until he shows up again in New York with (surprise, surprise) his sister; but to his surprise, she’s there too with her mighty piano to sweep in and save the day.

#07 - Waste/Wasteland

She came over to his house to drop off some music for the upcoming musical; but when she saw his room, it looked like someone had dropped about a thousand tons of junk in there, causing her to shut the door quickly and leave it in their mailbox instead.

#08 - Whiskey and rum

Later, when they were older, she told him about her father, and he told her about his mother, and although they were completely different, they had one thing in common: to never drink irresponsibly.

#09 - War

Sitting in biology class for her was like fighting a never-ending battle, so she didn’t fight at all and just walked down into the music room whenever she had biology class.

#10 - Weddings

Gabriella and Troy eventually got married, with Zeke baking them an extravagant wedding cake, decorated by Sharpay, Taylor playing the wedding planner, Chad being just Chad, and the two of them organizing the music.

#11 - Birthday

Zeke has never forgotten a birthday or a birthday cake, and Kelsi is always there to save everyone from Chad singing Happy Birthday off key, or to stop Sharpay and Ryan from doing a dance number while he’s singing it.

#12 - Blessing

There are days when things just go wrong for both of them, and it only gets better when they see each other and comment “Bad day, huh?”

#13 - Bias

He knows that Ms. Darbus favors them, but he also knows that she favors Kelsi Nielson too, for who else puts up with her when she decides to write her own musical and needs music?

#14 - Burning

The strange feeling inside of her to write a song is killing her, and she knows he understands when he slides a blank sheet of music to her, along with a pencil.

#15 - Breathing

You have to breathe when you sing, it’s a fact of life; so when he looks at her while singing, she nods and he breathes.

#16 - Breaking

A composer doesn’t write music without inspiration, and for “Breaking Free”, she had her mind set on one half of a set of twins for it.

#17 - Belief

It surprises people when they find out Kelsi is a hopeless romantic, but she knows that if she keeps believing, her dream will come true.

#18 - Balloon

When he was younger, he loved balloons, but his sister always took them away; now, he still loves balloons, but he gives them to Kelsi, but he doesn’t feel upset when he does.

#19 - Balcony

Kelsi has to stand in for Sharpay one day in Romeo and Juliet, but even Ms. Darbus notices that Ryan gets more into his role during that fateful balcony scene.

#20 - Bane

School was always the worst part of his life, since he barely scarped by until she came along and offered to tutor him (except in biology).

#21 - Quiet

Kelsi was always quiet, but she was always louder when she was at the piano, and even louder when the Evans twins needed her to play for them.

#22 - Quirks

He always noticed that she always wrote songs at lunch, what would make her laugh, what would make her smile, and it amazed him that it took her years to figure out that he knew.

#23 - Question

He always bit his lip when he was asking a question, and he always looked at her for a translation of what the teacher was saying.

#24 - Quarrel

Sharpay and Ryan got into a fight over something she didn’t hear, but when Sharpay stormed out and she found Ryan crying, Kelsi hugged him until he stopped and said he was okay (even if she didn’t believe him).

#25 - Quitting

“You can’t leave, Kelsi,” Ryan said, soothing the small girl he held in his arms, “who else is going to make sure that everyone is calm and that Ms. Darbus doesn’t get a heart attack?”

#26 - Jump

She was shorter than him, so giving him a kiss required her to leap up or him pick her up.

#27 - Jester

Ms. Darbus picks an emotional musical to do the year after, which involves a Mardi Gras celebration, a lone musician and a dead man.

#28 - Jousting

Eventually, Kelsi grows up into a beautiful young woman, and is bound to attract others to her, but she always stays with her knight in shining armor, to whom she has given her token of affection.

#29 - Jewel

For her birthday years later, her friends gather around as Ryan gives her a velvet box that lays in the plan of her hand, and upon being opened causes her to gasp before saying “Yes”.

#30 - Just

“No ifs, buts, or ands,” she said, turning around; “Just listen to me, please,” Ryan pleads.

#31 - Smirk

When they are finally engaged, on their wedding day, their friends finally admit that they bet when they were going to get together, with Sharpay smirking as she collects.

#32 - Sorrow

Kelsi’s world falls apart when her parents are killed in a car crash, but even as it falls apart, Ryan is there too, falling with her and holding her all those nights where she cries.

#33 - Stupidity

She knew he wasn’t stupid, that it was an act he put on because of his sister, but she also knew that he was smart in his own way too.

#34 - Serenade

Their first date involves them going to a restaurant where karaoke is taking place, but the machine breaks down; so Kelsi steps in to play the piano while other people sing, but it is truly Ryan who takes everyone’s breath away as he sings to the girl playing the piano.

#35 - Sarcasm

There are signs when they have been approached by others to replace each other; his is usually a bang of his head on a flat surface and hers are careless words on a blunt tone.

#36 - Sordid

Zeke had asked for their help in his latest culinary creation, which consisted of an unknown ingredient and seaweed, to which Ryan said “Eww” and Kelsi fainted in shock.

#37 - Soliloquy

Ryan’s drama assignment has him writing a soliloquy, but it’s Kelsi’s idea to put it to music.

#38 - Sojourn

Kelsi doesn’t know when she’s been working too hard, so he usually has to take off her glasses, take away whatever she is working on and hide them until she takes a break.

#39 - Share

Sharing with Sharpay has always been a battle to which she usually won; but Kelsi never lets him give her anything, but rather lets the two of them share.

#40 - Solitary

Having a sister is different than not having anyone, so adopting Kelsi into the Evans’ home wasn’t a problem.

#41 - Nowhere

When they finally move in together, she stops by an antique store and walks in to sit at the old piano, whereupon Ryan comes in and asks the shop owner where it’s going, to which Kelsi answers “Nowhere”.

#42 - Neutral

While it was usually the Evans’ twins (well, it was actually Sharpay, with Ryan in the background) versus the rest of the school, Kelsi served as the voice of reason, which usually resulted in everyone laughing it off and singing instead.

#43 - Nuance*
Every one has a certain way of touching each other to shop affection, so with Kelsi and Ryan, they always held hands or leaned lightly on each other.

#44 - Near

He could sense her at first, but never see her until someone knocked her over from her hiding place, by which time his sister would drag him away, leaving him to look back and see her on the floor.

#45 - Natural

“I knew they would get together,” says Chad, “they have the hat thing going.”

#46 - Horizon

Her window faces the horizon and his window; so when she wakes up, she watches the sunrise and when it has risen, she watches him sleep.

#47 - Valiant

The time comes when Kelsi tries out for a part in a musical, which oddly enough involves her wearing a dress and being saved by a dashing knight, play by Ryan.

#48 - Virtuous

One of the things that have made the journey easier for both of them, from East High to post-marriage, is that Kelsi knows what to do when it comes time to meet his parents.

#49 - Victory

He bursts into her room one day, a piece of paper in his hand, picks her up and spins her around, shouting “I got the part!” over and over again.

#50 - Defeat

They are unbeatable, for they have been together for so long; but something must stand between them, and it is Ryan’s loyalty to his family, which keeps them so close, but so far.
