Fandom: The Black Jewels Trilogy
Pairing: Daemon Sadi/Jaenelle Angelline
Theme set: Gamma
Rating: PG-13
Author’s Note: This will make far more sense if you’ve read the trilogy in question. Potential spoilers for the series if you haven’t read it (or finished it), gratuitous abuse of the Common Comma, and some incoherency caused by staying up way too late in the morning.

Enjoy!

01 Ring
Every time Daemon looked at the gold band on his left ring finger, he thanked the Darkness that she chose him.

02 Hero
Daemon saw the coming of Witch as salvation, when he could finally stop being Hayll’s Whore and freely offer his life in service to such a Queen.

03 Memory
When the pieces of the chalice finally settled, cleared, and allowed her to remember, Jaenelle felt a sense of loss so great that maybe not remembering was the greater gift.

04 Box
He’d decided not long after the Winsol ball that though Alexandra Angelline deserved to be buried alive in a grave no one could find, she didn’t deserve a coffin.

05 Run
There was nowhere to escape those hateful word sharks except leaving the Twisted Kingdom, but he no longer had any strength to run.

06 Hurricane
The Dark Court and its member, Daemon thought, were like the wind: delicate and playful one moment, howling and violent the next; but always they twisted and turned around Jaenelle, the eye in the storm.

07 Wings
When Lucivar told him how, some months after he first arrived in Kaeleer, he flew the Khaldharon Run with Jaenelle, Daemon initially couldn’t decide if he wanted to strangle his brother for allowing her to do something so dangerous without being able to fly or ask him how she did it without being able to fly.

08 Cold
The first time Daemon saw Jaenelle go cold was when he finally understood what she truly was.

09 Red
Daemon couldn’t help but stare with a slack jaw as Jaenelle slowly put on lipstick the same color as his Birthright Jewel, adjusted her midriff-baring top, and sauntered out of the room with a deliberate shake of her hips.

10 Drink
Jaenelle looked at Daemon and Lucivar, sprawled on the floor and giggling hysterically, with disgust and said, “Neither of you are to touch a gravedigger for the rest of your lives.”

11 Midnight
“Are you sure?” Daemon asked, his breath tickling the curve of her ear, and Jaenelle shivered and replied, “Yes” in her midnight voice.

12 Temptation
Every time Jaenelle did something so outrageous as to be nearly impossible, incredibly dangerous, or both, Daemon felt the overwhelming urge to either strangle her or drink himself silly.

Despite being interested in how Jaenelle used Craft, Daemon decided he wouldn’t take up her offer on learning what the Hall looked like from a mile above.

14 Music
She’ll always remember each and every song she sang to the witchblood; the rage-filled dirge she sang for Rose still haunts her dreams.

15 Silk
Daemon was a very, very happy Warlord Prince when he found out that the black spider-silk dress wasn’t regulated to strictly formal occasions.

16 Cover
Jaenelle slammed the book closed and shoved it under a pillow when Daemon came up behind her and prayed to the Darkness that he hadn’t seen the title.

17 Promise
He’d made a vow to serve and obey her, but that was one promise he was more than willing to throw out the window when it came to his Queen’s protection.

18 Dream
As Jaenelle soothed the ruffled feathers of another First Circle male, Daemons felt just a twinge of jealousy, and then he remembered she was dreams made flesh and that she was not just his dream, she was everyone’s.

19 Candle
A cold smile graced Daemon’s features as he lit the Dark Altar’s candles in the order that would open a Gate between Kaeleer and Terreille - it was time to recall the debt.

20 Talent
He had always thought of himself as having a knack for terrifying people, but Daemon changed his mind about that after his first shopping trip with Jaenelle.

21 Silence
Aaron and Khary quickly hushed and stared as a furiously blushing Jaenelle scampered past them toward her private rooms, followed soon after by a sauntering Daemon; sharing identical grins, the two headed off to let the others know that the Queen and her Consort desired some… private time.

22 Journey
The first time Daemon felt true fear was when Jaenelle had told him she had traveled into the Twisted Kingdom to bring back Tersa.

23 Fire
A sudden explosion rocked the foundations of the Hall, and Daemon buried his face in his hands and groaned - Jaenelle had tried to cook again.

24 Strength
Daemon believed that the Blood in Terrielle - or what was left of it - would do well to learn when not to rely on the strength of their Jewels, but the strength of their will.

25 Mask
Watching Jaenelle stalk one of the Arcerian cats in play, Daemon thought that, for her, humanity was just a mask.

26 Ice
Listening to Karla’s attempts at witty conversation made Daemon pity her cousin Morton for having to deal with her every single day.

27 Fall
Since he now knew the full story about Jaenelle’s original attempts to get Prothvar to teach her to “fly like a hawk,” Daemon really wished he didn’t.

28 Forgotten
Jaenelle frowned thoughtfully as she carefully rifled through her memories; why did she feel as if something important was missing?

29 Dance
Daemon had no intention of sharing his Lady with anyone for the rest of the night as he smoothly cut into Jaenelle’s waltz with Chaosti.

30 Body
She knew that soon the Briarwood "uncles" would decide to take that final step with her, and so she spun the web that would destroy them when they attempted to destroy her.

31 Sacred
If there was anything the Terreillians valued anymore, Saetan thought as he observed the mutilated remains of the unicorn Kaetien, it certainly wasn’t life.

32 Farewells
There were many, many things he was willing to say to her, from the mundane to the downright dirty, but "good-bye" wasn’t one of them.

33 World
Daemon didn’t think that the Realm of Light would ever truly recover from the devastation of Jaenelle’s purge, although in his mind, it wasn’t so great a loss.

34 Formal
Jaenelle scowled down at the beautiful blue dress laid out on the bed, and said a few pointed words in the Old Tongue about dinner parties that caused Daemon to double over laughing.

35 Fever
She absolutely despised being fussed over, so when Daemon caught the flu, Jaenelle thought it was time for a little payback.

36 Laugh
As Jaenelle’s silvery, velvet-coated laugh washed over him, Daemon decided that maybe being pounced upon by kindred Sceltie puppies wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

37 Lies
The words will still continue to echo in the far corners of his mind for the rest of his days: silky, court-trained, liar!

38 Forever
Being a Guardian or demon-dead was the closest thing to eternity the Blood could come to, and after a while it became a dismal existence, but Saetan believed it was worth it upon seeing the joy the son of his loins and the daughter of his soul felt in each other’s presence.

39 Overwhelmed
When Jaenelle wore the Black, and then the Ebony, she had to eat massive amounts of food to keep her Jewels from burning her out; now that she was pregnant, Daemon wondered why Mrs. Beale hadn’t dropped dead yet from cooking all day, every day.

40 Whisper
Jaenelle wasn’t from one of the long-lived races; one day she would become another whisper in the Darkness, but until then and even beyond that time, Daemon would treasure her.

41 Wait
He hated waiting to hold her close after one of her visits to the kindred territories, but he knew that dealing with the males in the family was a poor third on Jaenelle’s list after a hot bath and large meal.

42 Talk
Daemon loved to listen to Jaenelle’s voice; she was the one person he knew who could make spell ingredients sound like they come from an erotic novel.

43 Search
Daemon growled low in his throat as he stalked the Hall’s gardens - he could have sworn he heard Jaenelle’s laugh not a moment before…

44 Hope
Hope, Daemon realized, didn’t have to be found in the strongest Queen to ever walk the Realms; hope could be found in the little girl who taught him how to stand on air.

45 Eclipse
Saetan once told him how Jaenelle first defied a ruling by the Dark Council; Daemon decided then and there to always stay on Jaenelle’s good side.

46 Gravity
Jaenelle stifled a snicker as Daemon prowled the gardens; floating up onto tree branches had always been an effective deterrent to being found.

47 Highway
Vanishing his purchases of a dozen red roses and a gigantic box of assorted chocolates, Daemon caught the Red Wind and sped for home and his Lady.

48 Unknown
Daemon had never really thought about it before, but he just couldn’t figure out how far down in the abyss the misty place was.

49 Lock
If there was one thing Jaenelle missed about being the strongest witch in the Blood’s history, it was being able to Ebony-lock the drawer where she kept her secret stash of chocolate.

50 Breathe
When Jaenelle’s chest finally rose on her own without the aid of Healer’s Craft, the kindred knew that everything really would be all right.
