Motion: He was constantly in motion and, in those first few days, they were always moving, on the run from his son and the thing that possessed him, and watching him sometimes made her dizzy.
Cool: The heat of summer mellowed in the cool of the Rockies as they took refuge in a cabin outside of Steamboat Springs, taking a few days to rest and recover.
Young: He worried about how young she was, how amazingly innocent she remained after all she'd seen and done, yet he knew he was in trouble every time she turned her oddly ancient eyes on him.
Last: She couldn't remember the last time anyone touched her in more than friendship or violence, and, as his hands slid down her arms and his body pressed against hers, she knew she'd been missing something.
Wrong: It was wrong, he knew that in his black, shriveled heart, but, cliched as it was, he couldn't stop himself.
Gentle: The first brush of his lips on hers was so gentle, so unlike anything she'd come to expect from this sophisticated and often cruel man, and she responded because it felt so right.
One: One kiss wasn't enough, though, and very quickly a passion she'd never expected and he'd always longed for overwhelmed them both.
Thousand: There were a thousand reasons this was wrong, but they both ignored their consciences, and let themselves feel.
King: As she expected, he took control, guiding her with experienced hands, touching her with a possessiveness she'd resent if she didn't need him so much, and she allowed him this moment as king because in reality he had nothing left.
Learn: It would take time to learn everything she enjoyed, what touches, what kisses, how she found the most pleasure, but this first time they simply let it be.
Blur: The pleasure grew so intense that when she opened her eyes all she saw was a blur of light and shadow and the thought hit her that the description fit him to a tee.
Wait: His experience showed when he strung her body along, playing with it with light touches that teased and tormented as he made her wait for release.
Change: Later she'd look back and realize that moment of passion and possession was when the change inside her occurred and she went from both hating and needing him to simply need, but for now she was simply lost.
Command: When she lay shaking and exhausted in his arms, tears of confusion stinging her eyes, it was his gentle command to stop thinking that let her sleep.
Hold: She awoke to find that even in sleep his hold on her hadn't lessened, and, unselfconscious of her nudity, no longer as confused as the night before, she turned into his arms and woke him with a kiss.
Need: It blossomed quick and hot between them, need and desire and lust, until he lifted her over him and watched her take him.
Vision: As she moved on him, finding a rhythm in this new position, she watched him back, seeing the desire in his eyes, feeling her body tighten in response, glorying in passion she hadn't felt in years, and her vision swam as her climax approached on a rush of wet heat.
Attention: He drew her attention back to him by rolling them to their sides and lifting her leg high around his waist, as she came down from her release and he strove for his own.
Soul: In her soul she knew there was something wrong about what was developing between them, but her heart, broken by all she'd lost, began to tell another story.
Picture: They say a picture's worth a thousand words, and, as he watched her doze in the sunlight streaming through the window, he wished for a camera to capture her beauty, and the truth of what they were becoming.
Fool: In the full light of day, though, everything had to be hashed out because that was who she was, and she railed at herself for being a fool, allowing him to seduce her with honeyed words and tender caresses, and at him for doing the seducing, until he snapped back at her.
Mad: He retorted that he was mad, insane, to seduce her of all women, while in his heart he knew it was what he'd wanted for years, and that thought brought an all too familiar emotion to the fore.
Child: When she saw the guilt in his eyes, she screamed at him that she was not a child, and knew, when he couldn't look at her anymore that she'd hit the right target.
Now: Three days of silence and stony looks was all shattered when Zod found them and forced them to run again, living only in the now of each second of freedom.
Shadow: In the shadow of a tall pine, high on a mountain, he kissed her until her breath was stolen from her lungs, and she moaned and lowered them to the bare earth, and all the anger and guilt was forgotten.
Goodbye: When they reached the next town, he tried to send her away, knowing that their enemy really wanted him more than her, but the goodbye stuck in his throat.
Hide: Afraid to venture out in the day, all they could do was hide, and, while hiding, they discovered mutual interests and discussed a variety of topics with various levels of heat, and continued to seduce each other in the dark.
Fortune: With no access to his fortune, they ran out of funds, and she risked everything by contacting her cousin who wired them some money and, for once, didn't ask questions.
Safe: For a short while they were safe, Zod's attention elsewhere, but they never totally relaxed and every few days they moved, heading north along the mountains.
Ghost: As the days passed into weeks and the weeks into months, her old life became a distant memory and sometimes she'd see herself like a ghost in pretty clothes, at her desk with all her expensive electronic toys, and it was nothing like the reality of hiking gear and him.
Book: At a rummage sale in a small town in Wyoming he spent fifty cents on her favorite book, The Mists of Avalon, as a gift for her birthday, then began reading a chapter to her each night.
Eye: A bar fight in Billings left him with a shiner on one eye and he accepted her tending to him, never telling her that he had been defending her honor when a couple of cowboys had called him her sugar daddy.
Never: He also never told her that before all this, before Zod and running for their lives, he had several times seen himself in that role.
Sing: Christmas came and she wanted to sing carols and he had to tell her that between his harsh, poverty-stricken childhood, and his goal-oriented businessman's life, he'd never really learned any.
Sudden: The end came with a sudden bang as Zod found them and tore them away from each other, leaving her alone in the snow, tears freezing to her cheeks, as she mourned the theft of a man she'd once feared and hated who had become her world.
Stop: She couldn't stop shaking, even as she found her way to a town and rented a room before calling for help.
Time: Time passed too slowly, until she was basically counting the seconds that they were apart, until finally her cousin arrived, not at all surprising her with the horde of soldiers she brought with her.
Wash: Back home, in a pretty normal world despite it being ruled by an alien madman, she was doing the wash when she found one of his handkerchiefs, and broke down into painful sobs.
Torn: She was torn between staying safe and trying to make a new life for herself, and trying to find and rescue him because he'd rescued her, changed her, and left her with the sure knowledge that a safe life wasn't for her.
History: The history of all that they had shared was reflected in her eyes as she gazed sorrowfully at Zod in Lex's body and Lana, broken and empty beside him on their thrones.
Power: She had nothing to offer him, and he had all the power, so, instead, she begged.
Bother: Zod didn't bother to hurt her because he knew that there were plenty of hurts to come when he'd finally allow her to see his host body's father.
God: Her crying for her god to help the old man displeased Zod and he casually backhanded her before shoving her into the cell and locking the door behind her.
Wall: He was chained to the wall, bruises of various shades blossoming across his body, but his eyes were alert and, on spying her, filled with sorrow tinged with longing.
Naked: Naked and vulnerable he was still a proud man, but he broke down when she carefully wrapped her arms around him and together they silently wept.
Drive: His drive for survival returned with her presence and in quiet whispers they plotted their escape.
Harm: He swore no harm would come to her, and though she knew it was a promise he had no way of keeping, she allowed him this illusion because it gave him the inner strength he needed to regain his health.
Precious: The first time they made love in that cell, ignoring the sure fact they were being monitored, and, instead giving into something they both needed, he told her she was precious to him, and she told him she loved him.
Hunger: Along with renewed vitality and strength grew a hunger in him for freedom, and as she listened to him and watched him, she knew that someday they would find that again.
Believe: "Believe we'll be free again," became his mantra, and when it was finally answered by Clark's return and defeating of Zod, she took his hand and led him from the cell and eventually back to the mountains where it had all began.
