Red Sox in Love

Dec 22, 2006 01:21

Damn. This one was hard. But...here's the beta prompts.

Theme Set: Beta
Pairing: Real Person, MLB, Boston Red Sox, Jason Varitek x Doug Mirabelli
Rating: PG-13 to be safe
Disclaimer: I so wish I owned them. But I don't. This is all fiction, I have no knowledge of any of their sexual orientations and if there is a relationship going on it's purely coincidental that I'm writing about it.

1. Walking
Jason and Doug loved walking on the beach in Jamaica, together, holding hands, as the sun slowly set.

2. Waltz
Jason and Doug easily waltzed around the various questions that teammates had about their relationship.

3. Wishes
“All of my wishes have come true because of you, Jason,” Doug whispered softly after they had made love.

4. Wonder
Jason's eyes opened in wonder when he saw the bracelet Doug gave him to commemorate his milestone of catching 1,000 games.

5. Worry
Jason started to worry when Doug fell to the ground and didn't get up after the collision at home plate, unable to do anything because he was at home after knee surgery.

6. Whimsy
Doug's whimsical attitude could always make Jason laugh, even when it seemed there was nothing to laugh about.

7. Waste/Wasteland
Doug didn't want to waste any time being with Jason once he found out about his trade.

8. Whiskey and Rum
While Doug loved his Jack Daniels, Jason was much more amenable to rum.

9. War
Doug and Jason rarely fought, but when they did, it was a war and they took no prisoners; knowing where to strike for maximum damage.

10. Weddings
There seemed to be a flourish of weddings just after Jason and Doug had committed themselves to each other.

11. Birthday
The best birthday present Jason had ever known was to be with Doug, his husband, celebrating not only Jason's birthday, but two months of being married to each other.

12. Blessing
"You have been such a blessing in my life, I thank God for you every day, Jason," Doug said as they were lying in bed, sharing their thoughts just before they fell asleep.

13. Bias
"Those are biased words from Kevin Towers about Doug," Jason told the media.

14. Burning
Their burning passion was unable to be controlled, Jason kissing Doug frantically as he welcomed Doug home from San Diego.

15. Breathing
The most beautiful part of the night, outside of making love, was when Doug would hold Jason, hearing his heart softly beating and his slow, gentle breathing.

16. Breaking
Doug could hear Jason's heart breaking over the phone as he told Jason about the trade, hoping that he would get to Jason before the newspapers reported it.

17. Belief
Jason's belief that Doug would be coming home to Boston again was waning with every passing day.

18. Balloon
Jason wondered who brought all the balloons to Doug's welcome home party.

19. Balcony
Jason and Doug sat out on the balcony of the hotel room that Doug had reserved for him when he came out to visit.

20. Bane
Derek Lowe continued to be a bane in Jason's life, which made Doug want him to disappear forever.

21. Quiet
Jason kissed Doug quietly in the corner of the clubhouse, afraid that they might be noticed.

22. Quirks
Jason thought he was probably the only one who noticed Doug's quirk when he was catching, where Doug touched his left inner thigh after each call.

23. Question
Doug stood with his head down asking quietly, "Did I do something that made you question my love for you?"

24. Quarrel
Doug tried not to quarrel with Jason, being insecure and afraid that it might end their relationship.

25. Quitting
About a week after the trade, Jason started to pull away a little and Doug yelled, "What, are you quitting on me?"

26. Jump
Jason jumped up the moment Doug walked into the clubhouse, wanting to give him a hug after his rough game.

27. Jester
Doug acted like a jester, brightening everything in Jason's world, which meant everything to him.

28. Jousting
Doug, mildly drunk and feeling silly, grabbed a broom handle and began jousting, trying to nick one of his friends as Jason looked on with a grin and shaking his head.

29. Jewel
A week after Jason told Doug that he loved him, Jason gave Doug a bracelet with 100 diamonds in it as a belated birthday present.

30. Just
After they had made love all night, Jason, with tears prickling in his eyes, whispered, "Just hold me until you need to leave, to the very last moment."

31. Smirk
Jason knew that Doug's smirk meant he was thinking of something he could get in trouble for.

32. Sorrow
Doug felt a great deal of sorrow that he was unable to be with Jason when he was attacked.

33. Stupidity
Stupidity was the only answer that Jason and Doug could think of once they learned that Doug had been traded.

34. Serenade
When Jason said he was unable to sleep because of flashbacks to the attack, Doug tried to reassure him and promised to serenade him to sleep.

35. Sarcasm
Both Jason and Doug used their sarcasm to hide their feelings from almost everyone else, like a deflector shield.

36. Sordid
Jason could barely talk about the sordid details of his attack to Doug, the one person he trusted more than anyone in the world.

37. Soliloquy
It was the miserable end to a miserable season, no long speeches to the team about what had happened or see you next year, but Jason sunk into Doug's arms, Doug whispering, "It's okay baby" once the locker room cleared out.

38. Sojourn
Jason and Doug sojourned from Boston down to Atlanta, then returning to Boston and ending in Traverse City.

39. Share
In a quiet, private moment on their porch, Doug and Jason shared an ice cream cone.

40. Solitary
Doug pulled into himself, staying solitary, until the time he would see Jason, when he opened right back up, like a flower opens up to the sun.

41. Nowhere
There was nowhere Doug would ever want to be but with Jason, and he thought about this every day when he was in San Diego, hoping that his wish to return to him and the team he loved would come true.

42. Neutral
Boston was always neutral ground for them, the compound they created, and the one place where they always felt comfortable when they couldn't handle the distance during the offseason.

43. Nuance
It wasn't hard to see that Jason and Doug meant something to each other, with the nuances in their voices when talking about each other.

44. Near
Jason sat near Doug, the only contact being Jason holding onto Doug's ring, twisting it nervously as they waited to see what the outcome of the MRI on his knee injured in the collision would be.

45. Natural
As time passed, it was natural for Doug and Jason to be affectionate, even sometimes slipping around people who didn't know.

46. Horizon
The horizon, dotted with sailboats on the crystal clear Jamaican water, looked like a postcard from the little place that Jason and Doug visited every year.

47. Valiant
Doug valiantly stood by Jason after his attack, like he was waiting to pounce on anyone who even dared to look the wrong way at Jason.

48. Virtuous
Doug gave Jason a virtuous kiss in the clubhouse with a couple of the guys still around.

49. Victory
Even though they lost in the first round of the playoffs, Doug considered the year a victory because Jason was his.

50. Defeat
The biggest defeat in the season was the five game series against the Yankees, which Jason pulled inside himself deeper and deeper, though Doug tried his hardest to keep him from letting him get stuck inside his head.
