The air between her and Jenna was so tense that Raven couldn’t remember what it was they had argued about.

“Look at what I found!” Jenna crowed excitedly, holding the red fruit in her hands, “we can have these for breakfast!”

It was the beginning, Raven decided, of something wonderful.
#04 - Bugs
Jenna taught Raven that she had to respect every living thing, even bugs- though they were yucky.

Raven’s skin was an light coffee brown, tanned from her time spent working at the docks in the city she was from she said as her lover trailed her fingers over the sweaty skin.

Jenna wasn’t afraid of the dark, but she was afraid of the things that haunted Raven’s dreams causing her to wake trembling and reaching for Jenna blindly.

Raven stands at the grave, weeping quietly as she lets the despair of her wife’s death sweep over her.

Jenna opened the door to the library to find her fiancé sleeping on top of her open books on her desk; she was drooling.

When they first met Raven was drinking tea, and they drink it together now-rare and exotic as they can find.

Raven has a duty to fulfill, her mother’s job to do, to help her sister when she can, serve her knight and king but her biggest duty is to her heart and Jenna.

“Here, hold still,” Raven whispered as she took Jenna’s hand and placed it on the freshly dug earth; through her lover’s power Jenna could feel the very breath of the seeds they had just planted.

Jenna’s now frail hand grasped Raven’s as she gasped her last breath; they both knew the end was near and the elf wished with every bit of her might she could save her.

Jenna tumbles to the ground, pulling Raven down on top of her and kissing her there under the tree where they have fallen.

Raven watches the firelight in Morzza’s pale eyes, and for the briefest second she remembers sitting with Jenna on nights like this when all was peaceful in the kingdom.

“Raven,” Jenna pants as their breathing slows down, “I… didn’t know you were that flexible…” and her lover grins at her wolfishly.

When Raven holds Jenna close to her, she feels like she’s flying.

When Raven awoke the morning after they made love the first time, the first thing she saw was Jenna’s pale feet next to hers.

The doctor’s face was grave as he said, “Three weeks at the most.”

Jenna had learned once again what it was like to hope for something better than what was given to ever since Raven had kissed her in the garden and taken her away from the abbey.

The light sparkled on the water as Raven watched her lover wash their travel-stained clothes-mind you she was naked, so Raven paid extra-close attention.

“Raven, we’re lost,” Jenna snapped as she pulled the map from her wife’s hands.

Raven worked late into the night and early morning forming and shaping the metal until a elegant silver ring lay in her hand that she knew Jenna would love.

Raven looked over at the new person sitting in Jenna’s old chair and sighed, “Morzza, it’s been twenty years since she died and I still expect her to come walking in though the door.”

The old woman smiled as she watched the two girls walk through the market hand in hand… now that was true love.

Raven longed for the peace she knew before Jenna died; Morzza only brought her some relief from that intense longing.

Jenna washes her lover’s sweaty brow and prays the poison will sweat out with the fever.

“I never noticed how pretty it is out here,” Raven muses as they lay tangled together on her father’s old coat under the stars.

On the one year anniversary of her youngest sister’s death, it rained; and Jenna watched as Raven went through her sword forms knowing nothing she said could ease the pain and grief she still felt.

Raven had regret among the many that haunted her for the rest of her life that throbbed with pain more than the others (it was the fact that she, being an elf, was immortal and stayed young while Jenna, who was mortal, grew sick).

Her mother’s roses still bloomed years later and every Beltane Rave gave one to Narien, one to Morzza and placed one on her wife’s grave.

Jenna was the only one who knew the secret her wife hid from most and she kept it close to her heart until the day she died.

“Jen, nothing you wear could be ugly, I promise.”

Raven lay on her bedding inside her tent and cried for her fallen comrades; wishing she was at home with her wife instead of this god-forsaken hell hole fighting in a war she didn’t believe in.

Jenna poured the pitcher of water over Raven’s tanned back and gently washed away the grime and blood of battle; glad she was safe and sound.

“Welcome home,” Jenna whispered as she led her wife to their bed and pulled her down for a gentle kiss.

The first winter without her was the hardest but Raven got used to it.

Raven held the well-worn wood of her wife’s staff in her hands; she gently stroked it, then placed it in the chest with the rest of Jenna’s things, closed the lid and went to join the others outside… but not without whispering a final farewell to her beloved.

One of the things that had kept Sara away from Catherine at first was the wedding band she wore.

Catherine had never really been anyone’s hero, but seeing the devotion in Sara’s eyes made her feel like one.

The mere memory of that night’s kiss haunted Sara’s dreams along with soft blue eyes that had stared at her in shock and surprise.

Inside the white box were red roses and a note that said, “Catherine, You are the most beautiful woman in the world,” and it wasn’t signed.

Sara had wanted to run and hide, but seeing as she was rooted to the spot by her own fear she watched Catherine and Warrick kiss.

Sara’s emotions churned in the pit of her stomach as she nursed her brandy; “give me another.”

The paper wings clutched in the little girls’ bloody hands made Catherine’s heart ache; but it was the tears in Sara’s eyes that made it break into millions of pieces.

When Sara drank, it was to get away from her demons; but now she hardly touched the stuff because it wasn’t worth seeing the hurt in Cath’s eyes.

There are no clocks in Vegas, and Catherine really doesn’t mind it because then she can stay in Sara’s arms for just a little longer.

Catherine leans over to look into the microscope and it takes all of Sara’s self-control not to… oh never mind; she won’t give Greg the satisfaction.

“Nice view from my standpoint,” Catherine purred as she propped herself up on her hand and watched Sara try to find her clothes ignoring the sheet slipping down her torso.

“Just call me angel of the morning angel; just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby...” Sara must be on to something because she’s singing, and Catherine loves to hear her sing.

Silk scarves bind her hands and a soft voice whispers in her ear, promising Sara that she will love what’s coming next.

And even thought it was her first day off in months Sara went in because she got a call from a sick strawberry-blonde who could barely talk.

“I can’t promise you the future Sara,” Catherine whispered as she held the brunette’s face in her hands, “but I can promise you right now.”

Catherine awakes sweaty, aroused and horrified at the dream she’s just had involving Sara and handcuffs.

The candles had melted into pools of shiny wax when Sara finally collapsed, still trembling as Catherine pulled her close.

Blue fire shone in Catherine’s eyes as she growled at the man (who was currently holding a gun to her lover’s temple) “Get away from my girl.”

There are some days where Catherine’s strength fades and she wants to quit so badly but a smile from Sara is enough to keep her going.

The baby-blue eyes behind the mask light up when they see her and Sara figures that Ecklie isn’t so stupid when he’d set up the department new year’s function as a masquerade.

“You could have tried harder,” Catherine says and the words are icy cold as they cut Sara to the heart.

Catherine blinks and all she can think of is Sara’s warm arms supporting her weight and how she feels rather safe wrapped in them.

Catherine had almost forgotten what it was like to be wanted but Sara made sure she remembered that feeling on a daily basis.

“She’s my baby jean, prettiest girl I’ve ever seen...” Catherine’s body gyrates against Sara’s and the brunette thanks god that Cath can still dance really well.

Catherine doesn’t feel old when Sara kisses her and whispers, “I love you”.

Catherine knows that this is a delicate matter for Sara; before she gently removes the brunette’s last bit of clothing she says, “We’ll stop if you want to.”

“Bye Sara” Catherine says as she heads out the door of the lab and Sara nods in reply; for once too wrapped up in work to notice.

It was like the whole world had shrunk down to the sensation of Sara’s tongue between her legs and then it exploded with a cry of “SARA!”

The tuxedo made Sara look perfect; ever the “gentleman” she offered her arm to Catherine who was resplendent in blue silk, “Milady?”

“You give me fever…” Michael Buble sang and Catherine stood up from the table, “Sara, we have to dance to this one!”

Catherine laughs as she spins out then spins back into Sara’s arms and Grissom silently curses what he let get away as he drinks his champagne.

“I really have no idea where Catherine is,” Sara lies and the strawberry-blonde hiding behind the door smothers a laugh as she imagines the confused look on Nick’s face.
#38 - Forever
“I can give you forever now,” Catherine whispers as she holds out the ring to Sara, grinning madly.
#39 - Overwhelmed
When Sara had started crying, Catherine had thought she’d done something wrong until the brunette choked out, “I never thought it could be like this.”

“If you sneak out the back door make sure you’re quiet because I think Lindsay suspects something.”
#41 - Wait
Sara was willing to wait for Catherine until the end of the world; but while she waited what harm could there be in going out to dinner with Grissom?

“Sara, you’re shaking; talk to me.”

Catherine had searched every record store in Vegas and knew it was worth it to see the look on Sara’s face when she presented her with an original autographed copy of “Abbey Road”.

Some days Sara wondered if she could really wait, but it was always the little things that gave her hope to keep on going.

“That’s one thing I want to see before I die,” Sara said one night, “an eclipse.”

Catherine gathered the sobbing brunette into her arms praying that they would find Nicky soon.

When Catherine had found out about Sara and Grissom she went on a long drive to clear her head.

“If only you knew,” Sara whispered as she placed the rose on Catherine’s grave.

Catherine knew that they had reached a new point in their relationship when she had a key to her house made for Sara.

“Breathe,” Sara reminded herself as Catherine walked down the aisle towards her, “just breathe.”
