Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Dean Thomas x Mandy Brocklehurst
Rating: PG-13
Set: Alpha
#01 - Comfort: As good a friend as Seamus was he wasn’t a very good listener, which is why Dean found himself going to Mandy Brocklehurst more and more when Ginny broke up with him.
#02 - Kiss: The difference between kissing Mandy and kissing Ginny was that when he kissed Ginny he only thought about the fact that he’d finally kissed a girl, but when he kissed Mandy his only thought was that he’d kissed Mandy Brocklehurst.
#03 - Soft: As Dean left the library in a huff he thought to himself that whoever had told him that Brocklehurst was a big softie at heart had apparently never had her for a Charms tutor.
#04 - Pain: “Dean, I realize you’re hurting, but you’ve been moaning and complaining about this break up for five weeks now. I know it hurts, but perhaps it might be best for you to move on now,” Mandy asked two weeks after Dean and Ginny’s break up.
#05 - Potatoes: The absolute first time Dean felt he might truly able to relate to Seamus’ bemoaning women and their time of the month was when Mandy chucked a potato at his head for walking into their house with muddy feet.
#06 - Rain: It was with great surprise to Mandy that she felt Dean sidle up next to her with an umbrella in hand only a few hours after she’d called him an idiot Griffindor during their last tutoring session.
#07 - Chocolate: “Eighty-nine years old or not, you are never too old for chocolate,” Mandy said as she unwrapped a chocolate frog and plopped it into Dean’s mouth.
#08 - Happiness: At one time Mandy had found herself agreeing that one’s happiness was up to their self, but that was before she saw Dean Thomas walking hand in hand with Ginny Weasley.
#09 - Telephone: “Dean, when we go on this trip I’d like you to leave your phone behind. I think you’re going to be much too busy to use it,” Mandy said with a smile that seemed to waver between shy and wicked as they left the reception.
#10 - Ears: Dean’s ears were what Mandy considered to be his best feature as not only did she consider them to be beautiful, but she found him to be an excellent listener.
#11 - Name: Mandy often has to remind herself that Seamus is Dean’s best friend when trying to keep herself from hexing, but if he greets her with, “Look everyone it’s Amanda Hugenkiss,” one more time…
#12 - Sensual: “The difference between sexual and sensual,” Mandy whispered in Dean’s ear as her hands made their way underneath her husband’s shirt, “is that sensual can imply so much more.”
#13 - Death: “You can’t keep worrying whether I’ll die or not Dean. It’s not a good way to live your life,” Mandy told him when he visited her in the hospital.
#14 - Sex: As professional as Dean is he has never been able to finish a nude sketch of Mandy without putting down his quill in the middle of the sketch and carrying her off to bed.
#15 - Touch: Dean found that holding Mandy’s hand brought new meaning to the word touch.
#16 - Weakness: The two of them found they had a weakness for their daughter when with a simple smile from her they found themselves contemplating the purchase of a horse for her birthday.
#17 - Tears: Of the two of them Dean is often the most likely to shed tears, but this is a secret that Mandy keeps from even Dean himself.
#18 - Speed: Despite her being the calm one in the relationship, Dean was often in fear of the speed in which Mandy’s emotions fluctuated when she was pregnant.
#19 - Wind: Her favorite times are those she spends between sleep and awake on a Saturday afternoon with a nice breeze making its way through their house.
#20 - Freedom: “I was sort of mad about what you said about getting over Ginny, but I’ve been thinking about it and I think you’re right about letting go and moving on.”
#21 - Life: “I do,” Dean said with a conviction he hoped would last him a lifetime.
#22 - Jealousy: “Just because I’m not at all attracted to Dean, and I’m not, doesn’t mean I can’t advise him that it would be best for him to cease dating Ginny Weasley. I’m his friend after all,” Mandy told a smirking Su Li.
#23 - Hands: “Well you would know,” Mandy said with a large smile when asked by Su Goyle if it was true what people had said about men with large hands.
#24 - Taste: Mandy found that the taste of Dean’s kiss was better than the taste of the sweetest chocolate.
#25 - Devotion: “Ginny, I know you’re alone now, but I’m with Mandy and I won’t hurt her.”
#26 - Forever: “Seamus, I know what this commitment is and I know how long it lasts, mate. Don’t worry,” Dean said with a smile as he donned his dress robes and placed the ring in his pocket.
#27 - Blood: When their first child had been born there was so much blood that Dean had reconsidered them ever having a second child.
#28 - Sickness: Dean had a much better bedside manner than Mandy, which was why he was the one who stayed home with the children when they were sick and she went to work.
#29 - Melody: Mandy’s roommates eventually concluded that the length of Mandy’s singing was dependent on the amount of time she spent with Dean, which was rather odd as the two weren’t dating.
#30 - Star: If Mandy had to pick a favorite date that she had been on with Dean then she would always pick the one in which they went stargazing in an open field just south of London where nothing but the quiet of night could be heard for miles and miles.
#31 - Home: Despite the fact that Dean has his own office in their home he spends most of his time in Mandy’s home office when she’s at work because it reminds him of her.
#32 - Confusion: “If you have a man in your life then who’s this Gryffindor boy asking for you outside the common room,” Su Li asked with a puzzled expression on her face.
#33 - Fear: Lisa Turpin alone knows just how much Mandy cares for Dean and how afraid she is that he will come to realize it.
#34 - Lightning/Thunder: Their first argument took place in the library and was so loud that they actually drowned out the storm outside the castle.
#35 - Bonds: “You two are brother and sister. It’s high time you started acting like it,” Dean said calmly while Mandy simply wondered when her once immature boyfriend had become an incredibly mature husband and father.
#36 - Market: When he goes to the market he will often purchase a chocolate frog just for his wife, a small show of his affection and more powerful than a bouquet of flowers has ever been in his experience.
#37 - Technology: Despite his earlier misgivings Mandy proved to be more adept at muggle technology than even he was when she showed him how to program their VCR to record a football match.
#38 - Gift: The best gift he ever received from Mandy was when she took him to see West Ham face off against Arsenal and then arranged for him to actually meet Teddy Sheringham.
#39 - Smile: “Dean if you don’t stop smiling at Ginny like that we’re never going to get any work done,” Mandy huffed from across the table.
#40 - Innocence: “She’ll never have to kill a person in battle,” Dean said in awe as he stroked Mandy’s hand while they watched their child open her eyes for the first time.
#41 - Completion: “Um Dean if you’re done with that painting there’s something I’d like to show you in the bedroom,” Mandy said with a blush as she flashed her new night gown at him.
#42 - Clouds: “Oh he doesn’t always have his head up in the clouds Su, it just seems that way sometimes.”
#43 - Sky: He watches the sky from the window in the Transfiguration classroom to see if he can pick out Mandy Brocklehurst from the rest of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, though he can’t explain why exactly.
#44 - Heaven: Dean isn’t easily embarrassed, but when his best man proudly declared to all who were listening that Dean would be taking Mandy to Heaven that night he blushed enough for the both of them.
#45 - Hell: Contrary to what he’d said as a thirteen year old he did not see Mandy Brocklehurst in hell before he studied with her again, but rather in the library the very next day with a rather angry looking Professor McGonagall there to mediate.
#46 - Sun: He proposed to her in a small garden behind her parent’s house while the sun was just rising.
#47 - Moon: Mandy at first thought it was quite cute that Dean told their daughter when she was three that he was the man in the moon, but now that their daughter is five and openly bragging about her father being the man in the moon she wonders if it isn’t time for Dean to confess the truth.
#48 - Waves: He came slowly drifting by on the waves created by the Giant Squid’s movement and kissed her knuckles as he passed on.
#49 - Hair: Mandy has never done a thing with her hair in all of her twenty years, but on their first anniversary she thinks it might be nice to wear it up so Dean can have better access to her neck.
#50 - Supernova: Mandy’s anger was like that of a supernova: rare, awe-inspiring and more than a little scary.
