Theme Set: Gamma
Rating: Ranges from G up to R
Warnings: Some mentions of sex here and there
Notes: Written with
arcadia_garden in mind, so some sentences reference more... esoteric events and situations that occurred in that game. For the most part, though, I don't think it's too terribly hard to figure out what's going on in any given sentence =O Also, my apologies for the abuse of the semi-colon ):
Prompt 1 - Ring
The thing Xianghua yearned for most was a ring on her left hand that marked her as his companion for life-secretly, of course, because she wouldn’t even admit to him how badly she wanted it.
Prompt 2 - Hero
Sol knew very well that she didn’t need a knight to protect her when she could handle a sword as well as she did; as such, he wouldn’t insult her by playing the hero and making her into a damsel in distress.
Prompt 3 - Memory
Sometimes the memory of the power Sol held as a Gear rose to her mind, unbidden; it still made her shudder to think of how much suffering he could cause with the power lurking in his body, and how much he had suffered himself because of it.
Prompt 4 - Box
His cheeks were oddly hot as he handed her the box he had spent the previous night carefully wrapping; when he asked why she had tossed it aside without opening it in favor of kissing him so forcefully, she grinned and told him that he looked so embarrassed and awkward about giving her something for Christmas that she had reassure him that she’d love whatever he had gotten her, no matter what.
Prompt 5 - Run
There were times when Sol would run his fingers through her hair and over the line of her jawbone just for the assurance that she was really there with him in his bed, and Xianghua had learned not to interrupt these more tender gestures with her usual greedy kisses or tugs at his clothing.
Prompt 6 - Hurricane
The peaceful moments she had with Sol were like relaxing in the eye of a hurricane-she knew she’d have to face the chaos of her surroundings soon, but for the moment she could breath easily.
Prompt 7 - Wings
She knew Sol wasn’t exactly the most innocent of souls, but somehow the fact that his wings were black and leathery and bat-like made the Western idea of angels with feathery, pure white wings even sillier in her mind.
Prompt 8 - Cold
There were some nights where she would shiver with cold no matter how many blankets she pulled over herself, but somehow the heat of Sol’s body against her own always offered a solution.
Prompt 9 - Red
Xianghua was never the type to blush easily; even so, there were times when Sol would do something and her cheeks would flush red so suddenly and brilliantly the sensation was painful.
Prompt 10 - Drink
Sol would have to make a note to remember not to let Xianghua have coffee ever again-she just looked so miserable and pathetic when she curled up on the couch with a sugar crash-induced headache.
Prompt 11 - Midnight
As the clock struck midnight, Xianghua pushed him back down onto the bed with surprising ease, considering their relative sizes; grinning, she leaned down to purr into his ear, “Want to ring in the New Year with something special?”
Prompt 12 - Temptation
Xianghua always made it clear when she wanted something, and when she wanted him Sol always had a very hard time resisting the temptation to grab her and kiss her until they were both panting and breathless.
Prompt 13 - View
Xianghua loved everything about his appearance, from the way his hair tangled and fell over his eyes to the shape of short, square toes-however, the thing she loved most was the way his muscles moved under his skin and the view she got when he took his shirt off.
Prompt 14 - Music
She couldn’t help but to giggle as Sol told her about the slight scheduling error involving his classes for the semester, even as she reassured him that musical theater couldn’t be that terrible.
Prompt 15 - Silk
He liked running his fingers over the silk of her dress, but would have much preferred the feel of her skin; Xianghua was quick to comply when he informed her of this.
Prompt 16 - Cover
Sol wasn’t about to make Xianghua cover up, since he couldn’t really deny that he liked her choice of dress; however, that didn’t give others free license to look at her however they wanted, and he would make sure that anyone that gave her the wrong kind of look wouldn’t be making the same mistake twice.
Prompt 17 - Promise
She hoped he wouldn’t think of her as weak for it, but she loved to hear his whispered promises of fidelity.
Prompt 18 - Dream
If she would have ever dreamed that kissing Sol would ultimately make her so happy, she would have done it ages earlier rather than pining away after Kilik for so long.
Prompt 19 - Candle
One year, Xianghua had decided to be sentimental and light a candle for her mother-but only because she knew she could be comfortable crying with Sol’s arms around her.
Prompt 20 - Talent
Xianghua had always had a talent for making others smile, Sol included-even if it sometimes meant sinking to the despicably low level of exploiting the fact that he was (secretly, because no one but her knew this) ticklish.
Prompt 21 - Silence
She didn’t mind the silence when she was with Sol; it felt comfortable rather than awkward when she smiled and leaned her head against his chest, gripping his hand in her own.
Prompt 22 - Journey
Part of her wanted to plan a future with Sol already; however, the rest of Xianghua reminded her that they both still had their own journeys to complete before they could even begin to think about settling down into a routine of everyday life.
Prompt 23 - Fire
When he held her close and she could breath in his scent, she invariably was reminded of the smell of a fire-smoke and charcoal and ash.
Prompt 24 - Strength
Xianghua didn’t look the part of a soldier, with her lithe little form and girly clothes and ready smile; nevertheless, Sol felt guilty every time he realized he had forgotten how strong she really was.
Prompt 25 - Mask
Sol thought of his human body as a mask he wore to cover up the truth of his monstrous nature; Xianghua thought of the Gear as a cloak he donned when he could no longer tolerate the pain of human emotion.
Prompt 26 - Ice
Despite his command of the opposing element, Xianghua couldn’t help but to think that anyone who really knew Sol would associate him with ice rather than fire; he was cold and hard and unyielding rather than wild and chaotic more often than not.
Prompt 27 - Fall
He could still remember the way her body had fallen-limp and lifeless, like a torn and tattered rag doll; he prayed there would be no second opportunity for him to experience the pain of seeing her so utterly broken.
Prompt 28 - Forgotten
They had shared some truly spectacular moments together-however, Xianghua made sure to never forget the little ones, as they were just as important.
Prompt 29 - Dance
In spite of himself, Sol couldn’t help but to smile when she dragged him to his feet, informing him with the utmost confidence that there was nothing a person couldn’t dance to if they tried hard enough to figure out the steps.
Prompt 30 - Body
After the accident, as she had taken to calling it, Xianghua was almost too ashamed to let Sol see her body again; the first time they were together afterwards, his hand fell across her the scar-perhaps totally by accident-as he whispered that she was beautiful, and she cried.
Prompt 31 - Sacred
Despite the ease with which she discussed some facets of their relationship, there were other parts that were sacred in her mind; she never, ever wanted to think about sharing the cliff they had spent so much time together at, even after they had abandoned it.
Prompt 32 - Farewells
Sol had long since prepared himself for the moment when he’d have to let her go-however, it didn’t hurt any less when the time for him to say his farewells came.
Prompt 33 - World
There were many people that Xianghua would gladly give up her own life for, but only one that she would sacrifice the rest of the world to hold.
Prompt 34 - Formal
Sol didn’t care for his old uniform or the memories attached to it very much, but he had come to view it as a necessary evil; after all, it was the only thing in the way of formalwear he had, and sometimes Xianghua just deserved to be taken out to a romantic dinner.
Prompt 35 - Fever
Looking back, it amused her how childish Sol could become when bordering on deliriousness due to a fever-however, at the time she couldn’t deny being merely exasperated with his couch fort and refusal to take his medicine.
Prompt 36 - Laugh
It was quite an accomplishment to cause Sol to smile and laugh at something, and Xianghua couldn’t help the sense of pride that swelled in her chest every time she made him do just that.
Prompt 37 - Lies
She knew it was a stupid thing for her to be upset about, but the lie about his age made her more upset with him than she had been in a long while-she understood wanting to hide his true nature from her, but that had long since been discovered and now he was hiding his age?
Prompt 38 - Forever
Sometimes, Xianghua would ask him “Forever?” when he told her he loved her; she always regretted it when she caught the flicker of pain in the back of his eyes as he nodded.
Prompt 39 - Overwhelmed
Xianghua had stored away the suggestions from the more “experienced” men of the Imperial Guard somewhere in her memory, intent on remembering them when the time came; she found out the hard way, so to speak, that this was easier said than done the first time she was confronted with a very naked and very aroused Sol.
Prompt 40 - Whisper
Perhaps it was that the rush of sex hadn’t quite worn off yet, but Xianghua felt giddy as she leaned up to whisper a quiet “I love you,” into Sol’s ear like a schoolgirl passing along the most exciting secret ever.
Prompt 41 - Wait
Sol knew that Xianghua could be a bit silly and scatterbrained at times-but at the same time he also knew that if he waited long enough, she’d remember she was supposed to meet him there and come running.
Prompt 42 - Talk
It was no secret that Xianghua loved to talk; however, sometimes the silences meant more to her than all the words in the world when Sol pulled her close and just held her, hand running softly through her hair as she curled up against him.
Prompt 43 - Search
In retrospect, Xianghua felt kind of silly for spending as much time as she had searching for the right person-ultimately, the pieces had fit themselves together on their own when Sol came into the picture.
Prompt 44 - Hope
Xianghua never saw the harm in hoping for the best, so long as one could cope when things turned out poorly; Sol thought this was one of her more endearing qualities, but still kept himself poised to pull her back to her feet if fate dealt her a blow she couldn’t endure on her own.
Prompt 45 - Eclipse
When he lost her, it was like a light in his life had gone out; afterwards, those that knew him could find a shadow in the back of his eyes if they knew where to look.
Prompt 46 - Gravity
They didn’t bother trying to sort out where the attraction had started any more, simply accepting it as something that was, the same way they accepted that the sun would rise the next day or that their feet would remain firmly planted on the ground with the next step they took.
Prompt 47 - Highway
Sol, though a man of great strength and bravery, was not above complaining; however, when he griped to Xianghua that the roads back to her home were too difficult to travel for a reunion that was likely just going to end in her family attempting to kill him anyway, she rolled her eyes and laughed his concerns away.
Prompt 48 - Unknown
They couldn’t know what would come in the next moment, and though Xianghua liked to think that they’d been dealt enough bad hands for the scales to start to tip the other way, they still made sure to make the best of each passing second they had together.
Prompt 49 - Lock
Admittedly, neither of them were particularly strong believers in doors or locks; over and over Xianghua would end up telling anyone unfortunate enough to walk in on them to think of it as a valuable test of their will.
Prompt 50 - Breathe
Generally, Xianghua was the first one awake in the morning but the last out of bed; if she had her way, she and Sol would never move, just so she could enjoy the sound of his breathing, the feeling of his skin against hers, the knowledge that they were together for another second longer.
