Title: Walking A Slender Thread
Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh
Pairing: Yami no Malik x Bakura Ryou
Theme Set: Epsilon
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None really
Notes: Sorry for taking so long. This kind of dropped out of my head. Then I found it and determined to finish it, and so I did.

#01 - Motion
A single motion, a brief little beckoning, and Ryou is in his arms where he belongs; and it's good that Ryou knows what to do, a little, because this kind of movement is a stranger to the dark shadow of the tomb keeper.
#02 - Cool
Ryou's fingers are cool against his skin, cool and firm, but they leave in their wake a heat that cannot be denied.
#03 - Young
They're young; Ryou is only seventeen, and the shadow is younger than that, in mind if not in body, but they both know what they want is each other and what they will have is forever.
#04 - Last
Ryou never had any idea that when the bearer of the last of the Millennium Items arrived in Domino City, the event paved the way to a new darkness and a new dawn for his life.
#05 - Wrong
This is so wrong, in every way that can be conceived of, and Ryou knows it, and can't escape it, and deep inside, knows he doesn't want to.
#06 - Gentle
Gentle is a word that Malik's darkness associates only with weakness, unless it's Ryou, who can be as gentle as a summer breeze, and stronger than the strongest steel.
#07 - One
He was the only one who really cared that the dark shadow had returned; who cared and deep within, did not entirely fear him.
#08 - Thousand
Three thousand years ago, the Millennium Items were forged, and now in the modern era, two of them bring together a dark fragment of soul and a young man who calls to him like the flame calls a moth.
#09 - King
For all the hatred that he bears the Pharaoh, and will always bear him, there is one tiny crumb of gratitude the dark shadow of the tomb keeper holds: that he did not let Bakura Ryou die in a game before they could meet one another.
#10 - Learn
School could teach Ryou many things, but all of it paled next to what he could learn when the lights were out, and the shadows were as close as his own heartbeat.
#11 - Blur
How the shadow came to be again, free of Malik's body, Ryou does not know, and whenever he asks, all that he learns is that it's nothing but a blur of memories, pain, and agony, and he soon learns not to ask.
#12 - Wait
Ryou wants to wait, to take this slow and be certain, but the shadow will not wait, he's waited long enough for everything to be his, and he will wait no longer for Ryou to join that list.
#13 - Change
Bakura Ryou never asked that the dark Malik change for him; Dark Malik changed because he chose to.
#14 - Command
He never tries to command the power of the shadows again; not that he doesn't want to, but because he has begun to wonder if he really needs to anymore.
#15 - Hold
Putting a hold on one's life isn't so bad, when that life consists of destruction and damnation, and to hold for a while is to find something new to live for.
#16 - Need
There is a need between the two of them, that they do not speak of, but words are not necessary to answer this, only moments in the night, when they are alone save for each other.
#17 - Vision
Isis no longer has visions as she no longer has the Tauk, but she doesn't need one to see what's going on between Ryou and her brother's strangely returned dark side.
#18 - Attention
Malik's darkness hates when Ryou pays attention to anything other than himself, though he knows somewhere that he can't keep it all; that doesn't mean he doesn't want to.
#19 - Soul
Dark Malik doesn't wonder if he has a soul of his own; all he needs is what he has: Ryou's heart.
#20 - Picture
The shadow picks up a picture of two children, as alike as twins, and asks who they are; it's Ryou and his sister Amane; "I think you're prettier."
#21 - Fool
Ryou doesn't know if he's more of a fool for accepting the shadow's attentions, or if he'd be more of one to deny them and rouse up his formidable anger.
#22 - Mad
Mad is a funny word; it can mean insane or angry, and when it is applied to the one who holds Ryou's heart, it usually means both of them, at the same time.
#23 - Child
Born of a ten year old child's pain, anger, and hatred, it's only natural that the shadow feel much of the same emotions...but he is also learning a new one, from the heart of a young man.
#24 - Now
The past is three thousand years gone; the future is only what they choose to make of it, and what matters is this moment and this now.
#25 - Shadow
That's all he is; the shadow of Malik, the darkest part of him, the side that feeds off of his anger and hate, but it's enough to make him different, to make him his own self, or so he must believe, for the original Malik does not care for Ryou, and he does, and he will not let anyone else have him.
#26 - Goodbye
He never had a chance to say good-bye before, and now that he has it, he doesn't want to take it; the Gods are cruel that way, he has learned.
#27 - Hide
Ryou will not hide from anyone; hiding has never brought anything but pain, and he's had enough pain in his life; he loves the shadow of Malik Ishtar, and that is all.
#28 - Fortune
Luck implies good or bad, but fortune is only good, and it's Ryou's great fortune, in his mind, that he's with this being of darkness and wants to be with no one else.
#29 - Safe
Should he feel this safe, in these arms of darkness, or should he realize that he's probably in the least protected place in all the world...
#30 - Ghost
More than a ghost, less than a person, the shadow of Malik wanted few things more than his own full life, to get rid of the foolish creature that had spawned him, and find his own way.
#31 - Book
Malik's shadow threw the book across the room with a cold and angry hiss, wanting to know what was so much more interesting to Ryou than he was; the white-haired teen only smiles before his lips are crushed in a kiss; he can find another vegetarian cookbook, but where would he ever find another who can kiss with fire and ice both?
#32 - Eye
There are no more Items now, but sometimes Ryou wonders what could've happened if Malik's shadow had taken the Millennium Eye instead of the Ring after that duel with the Spirit of the Ring...
#33 - Never
Never to part, but never to be together; Ryou doesn't know which would be more painful, and both fears he'll find out and hopes that he never will.
#34 - Sing
Some songs are made of melodies, music, and words, but the tune that falls from Ryou's lips is made of pain and pleasure both as Malik's darkness enfolds him in his arms.
#35 - Sudden
It's all so sudden, one moment an enemy, the next...not quite a friend or ally, and the one after that, the one who holds his heart.
#36 - Stop
He doesn't like to stop as often as Ryou does, but he will stop whenever the white-haired teen asks: if only because he knows Ryou will ask him to stop stopping before too long.
#37 - Time
The shadow feels as if they have all the time in the world to be together; Ryou feels as if their time is slipping away, moment by moment.
#38 - Wash
The darkness washes over the light, and the light over the darkness, until neither of them can tell where the other began and they end, and perhaps the twilight isn't such a bad place to be, if it means they can be together.
#39 - Torn
Ryou knows that he shouldn't listen to anything that Malik's darkness says, but the words are so soft and so sweet, and he doesn't want to think they're a lie, but he can't bring himself to believe they're the truth, either.
#40 - History
The tomb keepers have the history of a forgotten king, but their own history is considered meaningless; Ryou intends to change that, by never forgetting the shadow created by the one that wanted to abandon his destiny.
#41 - Power
The dark side of Malik wants all the power in the world and in the shadows, but that desire flutters a little at the sound of a soft voice and a flash of white hair.
#42 - Bother
No one with any sense would bother these two when the door is closed and the lights are off; no one said the landlord had any sense, but he certainly didn't bother them again after the first time.
#43 - God
Ryou knows that the dark one wants to be the God of the entire world; why can't he just be happy being the God of Ryou's world?
#44 - Wall
Up against the wall, hot and heated, kisses that burn in one's blood, and only that little wall can keep Ryou from falling...
#45 - Naked
They all know Ryou's been a little out of it since the return of Malik's darkness, but really, couldn't he have at least put a robe on when he answered the door?
#46 - Drive
Ryou thinks he's being driven mad with the passion and the power of what goes on between them; Malik's shadow is one up on him, he knows he's driving Ryou mad.
#47 - Harm
Sometimes Ryou's hand or arm twinge with remembered pain, but even more often, his lips burn with kisses and his heart aches to think of what his friends must think of him, but in the end, the only harm is to himself, and that's the way he wants it.
#48 - Precious
Millennium Items are precious beyond words, for what went into making them and what they can do, but the one who wears the Millennium Ring is far more precious still to Malik's other side, for the exact same reasons.
#49 - Hunger
Hunger for life, hunger for domination, hunger for revenge...hunger for the sweet taste of Ryou's lips on his own...all of those are what he cannot live without, but the last is the worst hunger of them all.
#50 - Believe
When Ryou says he loves him, Malik's shadow believes him; but when it comes to saying the words back, he doesn't believe he can ever do it.
