Dec 30, 2007 15:33

Fandom: Samurai Deeper Kyo
Pairing: Demon Eyes KyoxShinrei, a brief hint of YuyaxAnother Man and one mention of KyoxSakuyaxKyoshiro.
Theme set: Epsilon
Rating: R for violence and mentions of sex.
Warnings: Spoilers for the end of the series and Shinrei's fight with Kyo. Also concrit is fully appreciated.

#01 - Motion
Kyo has always thought of dancing as being a waste of motion; after fighting Shinrei, he reevaluates that opinion.

#02 - Cool
Instead of reacting to Shinrei's complaints, Kyo looked him coolly in the eye before he took a long drag from his pipe and then slowly exhaled right in the other's face, causing him to sputter and gag.

#03 - Young
Kyo has to remind himself that Shinrei is probably older than him even as he watches the man get an excited sparkle in his eye the first time he enters a town that isn't one of the Mibu's perfectly ordered little villages.

#04 - Last
The first time Hotaru entered Shinrei's room without knocking was his last: Kyo made sure of that.

#05 - Wrong
Everything about this man is wrong and yet Shinrei cannot stop himself from wanting him.

#06 - Gentle
Kyo knows that he should treat Shinrei far more gently--he deserves as much, if not more--but he always ends up leaving him bruised inside and out.

#07 - One
That one moment between when Kyo had went in for the deathblow and before his brother had saved him had been the longest and most horrifying of Shinrei's life.

#08 - Thousand
When Shinrei had heard the legend of the Thousand Man Slayer, he'd scoffed, since he wasn't afraid of a mere human, even one who was supposed to be a demon-spawned fiend.

#09 - King
The very idea of Kyo being the next Crimson King disgusted Shinrei, as he couldn't see himself bowing to someone so vulgar and arrogant.

#10 - Learn
Kyo has never learned how make up his futon, put away his dishes (or rather sake glasses, since the man rarely eats), or clean up his tobacco ashes; Shinrei has decided to teach him, even though the man has claimed to be a slow learner, despite the fact that everyone knows how quickly he mastered Suzaku and Byakko.

#11 - Blur
Their first time was a blissfully sake induced blur and the only thing Shinrei can remember clearly is that Kyo had a strange habit of cracking his knuckles during certain moments and it wasn't exactly erotic.

#12 - Wait
That little boy never came to visit young Kyo's cell again and even though he should have known better, the demon child had still waited expectantly for Shinrei, never truly grasping that he wouldn't be coming back.

#13 - Change
Much like the Mibu he served, Shinrei was stubborn and adverse to change; Kyo forced him to break and then accept it.

#14 - Command
Just as Shinrei was about to try and issue another command to him, Kyo pulled him into a kiss, praying that it would shut him up.

#15 - Hold
It's difficult to grip Tenrou due to how slick Kyo's grip has become from Shinrei's icy blasts of water, but he holds on anyways, so tightly that diluted blood runs down his hands.

#16 - Need
One of Shinrei's good points is that he's not needy, though Kyo finds himself wishing the man would whine occasionally.

#17 - Vision
Somehow, Akari forced Kyo into a lovely, flowing, red silk kimono and Shinrei wonders if he'd get beaten for saying Kyo was a "vision," mainly because he's never been good at teasing people.

#18 - Attention
Despite his reputation, Hotaru does pay attention to things and can proudly say that he is the only person who has noticed just how Kyo looks whenever someone mentions Shinrei's name.

#19 - Soul
"Even you have a soul," Shinrei said as he gripped Kyo's arm, firmly as if the man wasn't truly a demon and wouldn't burn Shinrei's untainted Mibu flesh.

#20 - Picture
Shoving a crumpled mass of Ukiyo-e prints in Kyo's face, Shinrei storms away from the room: Kyo is far more concerned about Shinrei replacing them then about explaining himself, since a couple of them were irreplaceable works of art whose creators had long since passed into the after life.

#21 - Fool
When Shinrei heard reports saying that Hotaru had managed to infiltrate Kyo's emperors easily, he had to wonder what kind of fool Kyo really was.

#22 - Mad
It didn't take long for Shinrei to convince himself that those red eyes that haunted his childhood were disgusting; one needed to embrace some form of madness to survive the Mibu.

#23 - Child
Neither one of them are particularly good with children, Shinrei being too stiff and Kyo too frightening and sulky, so when Yuya offered to let them hold her baby girl, both of them get this strangely horrified look on their faces as if she had just offered up a challenge more horrifying than a million battles to the death.

#24 - Now
Ignoring Shinrei's protests, Kyo pushes things further and further because now is all is they have, all Kyo has ever had.

#25 - Shadow
Despite himself, Shinrei still resists feeling anything for the manslayer, as if he can still feel his father's shadow on his back, eyes disapproving.

#26 - Goodbye
The visit to the Mibu lands was supposed to be a short one, but Kyo found it hard to leave because he hated saying good-bye and if he left without one, Shinrei would kill him.

#27 - Hide
Tired of the way Kyo's red hair hid his face, Shinrei removed the tie from his hair and started to fix Kyo's into a ponytail before he could protest, complaining about slovenliness.

#28 - Fortune
Five fortune cookies later and Shinrei's lucky color was still crimson.

#29 - Safe
That safe feeling that you find in another's arms is a myth, yet Kyo finds that Shinrei's arms can protect in ways that he simply cannot handle.

#30 - Ghost
For a moment, Kyo could have sworn he felt Shinrei's fingers ghost over his arm, but quickly realized that it was his imagination getting the better of him.

#31 - Book
It wasn't because Shinrei kept telling Kyo to do it that he finally decided to give reading a chance, but because of the pornographic pictures between the covers; Shinrei doesn't know that.

#32 - Eye
Shinrei was the apple of his father's eye, as Muramasa would have said, and while Kyo doesn't find his mentor's love to have been lacking, he does wonder what it's like to have been bound to a father by blood.

#33 - Never
Kyo had never even conceived of being attracted to another man: Shinrei was making him regret saying never.

#34 - Sing
Surprisingly enough, Kyo can sing and his voice isn't nearly as rough as Shinrei had imagined and he can't understand why Kyo threatened to kill him if he told anyone.

#35 - Sudden
Suddenly, for the first time in his life, Shinrei finds himself in love to the point of flailing around like a little school girl; he hides it well least a certain someone calls him a woman.

#36 - Stop
It was foolish to agree to that little sparring match, as it was all Kyo could do to stop his blade from cutting too deeply, not that he would have minded leaving a few marks on Shinrei's skin.

#37 - Time
It's hard to forgive Shinrei for that little time limit he forced on Yuya and by extension them, but Kyo figures that if she can smile at him and consider him a friend, then he cant' let himself be out done, not by a teenage girl.

#38 - Wash
Every morning, Shinrei engages in a meticulous bathing ritual that rivals Yuya's and Kyo finds himself turning into the Peeping Tom Kyoshiro and Benitora could never hope to be.

#39 - Torn
Annoyed at the tear in Shinrei's shirt, Kyo took it from him and started sewing it and to everyone's surprise, he did an excellent job of mending it.

#40 - History
Centuries later, Shinrei flips through a book on famous personages in Japanese history in a small bookstore in Kyoto and finds himself frowning over the fact that Kyo has been erased from history, along with almost everyone else he knew.

#41 - Power
During Kyo's disappearance after the final battle, Shinrei would constantly visit Yuya's home trying not to ask if she had seen him and it was all the girl could do to keep from forgetting that this was actually a powerful man and not a boy who appeared to be only a few years older than she was.

#42 - Bother
Relationships are such a bother to Kyo--he'd learned that as soon as he'd thrown in with Kyoshiro and Sakuya--it was too much effort to be agreeable, to be considerate or to just plain care; Shinrei didn't seem to mind if Kyo was bothered .

#43 - God
The Mibu are gods, Shinrei their servant and Kyo a demon who crosses those lines in every conceivable way possible.

#44 - Wall
When Shinrei finally hit a wall in his training, he didn't have time to sulk since Kyo decided to throw him over it by beating the snot out of him.

#45 - Naked
Despite having seen naked men plenty of times in the baths, it threw Shinrei when Kyo started to strip in front of him as if dignity was irrelevant.

#46 - Drive
Even though he has no allegiances, Kyo has a drive that Shinrei has lost and it's only recently that he's realized that the other man isn't quite as selfish as he thought, but that isn't saying much either.

#47 - Harm
When Keikoku had been assigned to spy on the Demon Child, Shinrei hadn't seen the harm in it, only the good for his brother; he should have realized that more than one life was being tied to Kyo's that day.

#48 - Precious
He should laugh about it, but Kyo finds it just precious when Shinrei thinks that he can actually top him-both in and out of bed.

#49 - Hunger
It was amazing that sake alone was enough to fill Kyo's belly and Shinrei had begun to suspect that man just never got hungry until he randomly stole a spring roll from Shinrei's chopsticks just as it had touched his lips.

#50 - Believe
All that idealism that Shinrei spouts is absolute crap that Kyo gave up believing in a long time ago, but he finds that he's developed an uneasy acceptance towards it.

*Notes*
20. Ukiyo-e prints were cheap mass produced prints that the average man could afford that depicted the "floating world" or rather scenes of city life, historical figures, legends and a variety of pornographic images that often bordered on the absurd. Ukiyo-e prints are probably are little out of place for SDK, but I figure that with all the crimes Kamiyjo has committed against history, it was okay to fudge a few details.

39. If you read the occasionally questions from the readers that Kamiyjo answers, there is one asking what Kyo does about his constantly shredded clothes and Kamiyjo replied that that Kyo fixed them himself. It's never mentioned how good Kyo is at it, but I like the idea of him having at least one domestic skill, considering how much I've ragged on his lack of in this piece.

40. This is a piece set in our time, based off the simple fact that canon never really explained how long the Mibu actually lived.
