Original Pairing, Set Delta

Delta

#01 - Air

There was something in the air when Raven and Kai’s eyes met that made a shiver go down the elf’s spine; it had been years since she had felt that.

#02 - Apples

She clambered up into the tree and laughed quietly when Kai managed to catch up, settling on the branch beside her.

#03 - Beginning

“When you were born Kai, I was 45 years old.”

#04 - Bugs

Kai’s eyes widened as she watched the spider crawl calmly over Raven’s hand, then up into the rafters, “How’d you do that?”

#05 - Coffee

Kai couldn’t understand why Raven drank the stuff, and tea, for that matter- to her it was just dirty water.

#06 - Dark

They were both just as startled to see the other awake at this hour; Kai mostly because all she could see were the bright blue eyes glinting at her in the dark.

#07 - Despair

Under Kai’s gentle love and guidance, Raven began to throw off the cloak of despair that hung around her in the years since her wife’s death.

#08 - Doors

It didn’t matter to most what the two of them did behind closed doors; it was their relationship, let them do what they want.

#09 - Drink

“Here, try this,” Raven coaxed, grinning when the young woman took a longer sip of the mead than she thought she would.

#10 - Duty

Raven had a duty to her king, but she wanted nothing more to forsake it, just so she could be around the person who had re-captured her heart.

#11 - Earth

Kai had to marvel at the way Raven seemed so connected to living things; it was almost eerie in a way.

#12 - End

Rhia had already figured it out, but it was still worth it to see the looks on River and Tidus’ face when it hit them that the reason Raven and Kai were in the same bed was NOT platonic in any way.

#13 - Fall

Kai could still remember the instant she knew she had fallen in love with Raven, and she hadn’t looked back since.

#14 - Fire

The kiss became very hot rather quickly, and it took all of Raven’s restraint to pull away; it didn’t help that Kai’s face was flushed, and her eyes were shining with desire.

#15 - Flexible

“No, Kai, you pull the bowstring like this… uh, why are you looking at me like that?”

#16 - Flying

“Well, next time you climb the wall, and I’ll stay down here and watch.”

#17 - Food

Something about the way Raven relished every bite of food made Kai giggle; when the elf had looked at her questioningly she just shook her head and went back to her meal.

#18 - Foot

Around Kai, Raven seemed to always loose her footing in some way, even if it was tripping around nothing.

#19 - Grave

“Are you always so serious Raven?”

#20 - Green

Kai was still young, younger than Raven, but in many ways she also seemed wiser than any sage.

#21- Head

Kai had to push the arrow through the elf’s shoulder in order to pull it out; she was surprised and amazed when she didn’t even utter a whimper.

#23 - Honor

“It’s in my nature,” Raven argued as she held open the door for the black-haired girl.

#24 - Hope

“… And know that my love for you grow deeper and deeper everyday, Kai - With Hope, Raven”

#25- Light

When Raven and Rhia returned from the Northern kingdom, every one noticed Raven seemed lighter, free, and perhaps even happier.

#26 - Lost

“You know,” Raven whispered softly, causing the black-haired girl to look up at her, “I think I’ve found where I belong.”

#27 - Metal

Rivers of sweat ran down Raven’s back as she pounded the metal with Daniel, and Kai could help but notice how it made her tunic stick to her, highlighting the subtle shift of the muscles.

#28 - New

“What- you needed a new set of needles, and I saw them in the market and thought -oof!”

#29 - Old

And even thought the idea of losing Kai was there in the back of her mind, Raven tried to put it behind her, thinking only of the present.

#30 - Peace

For the first time in many long years, Raven felt truly at peace, lying cradled in Kai’s arms.

#31 - Poison

Raven watched Kai’s hands work swiftly; mixing a tonic to work against the poison that was slowly invading the child’s system and realized her lover was made for this sort of job.

#32 - Pretty

The sight of her Raven in court attire, hair down and wound with flowers (Rhia’s doing, no doubt) made Kai think her lover truly was pretty, not just beautiful.

#33 - Rain

“Raven come inside, you look like a drowned rat!”

#34 - Regret

Raven carried many regrets on her small shoulders, and one of them was not staying with Kai, even though she knew she had to leave.

#35 - Roses

Even with the smell of roses in the air, her favorite flower, Raven merely had to close her eyes and think to imagine Kai’s sweet perfume.

#36 - Secret

Kai had learned that her lover kept many secrets, and she knew over time that Raven would tell them to her, whenever she was ready.

#37 - Snakes

Kai grimaced as Tidus, River and Rhia helped themselves to the snake; it wasn’t until Raven asked her to eat with a worried look that she took some of the roasted meat.

#38 - Snow

The last snow of the year reminded Raven of Kai, and she spent the day outside walking amongst the huge drifts, clutching the scarf in her hand.

#39 - Solid

The feeling of Raven holding her made Kai feel more safe; solid and protected.

#40- Spring

In the spring, a wagon train was seen approaching the gates, and when it was seen that they flew the flag of the North Kingdom, a messenger was sent to find Raven and inform her of the news.

#41- Stable

Raven had been saddling her horse to go on a patrol when River, breathless with running, had fond her and told her of the incoming visitors; without another word she flicked the reins and rode thundering down the cobblestone streets to meet them at the gate.

#42- Strange

Kai had never seen a stranger sight: Raven on the back of a horse, riding at full-gallop to meet the wagon train.

#43- Summer

The last time they had seen the other had been in the dead of winter; now, in the summer sunshine, they were finally together again.

#44- Taboo

Only a few looked away in disgust as Raven swept Kai into an embrace and then kissed her passionately in the middle of the commons; the rest of them hooted and cheered.

#45 - Ugly

Raven traced the scars on her lover’s back from the torture Draven had put Kai through those many months ago, and decided she still looked just as beautiful anyway.

#46 - War

Kai was at war with herself internally: stay with Raven forever or return home to her father’s kingdom.

#47- Water

Tears streamed down Kai’s face as she clutched at her lover, sobbing over and over how she was staying, and that she loved her.

#48- Welcome

“Welcome home,” Raven whispered softly, kissing her lover on her forehead before joining her in sleep.

#49 - Winter

This time, when winter rolled around, they were together, and welcoming their first child into the world.

#50 - Wood

Watching Kai rock their son in the cradle River had made for them, Raven realized that this… this was truly where she was meant to be.
