Note:These sentences are set in an alternate universe/alternate future of the NARUTO world -- I haven't had a chance to catch up on "Naruto Shippuden" at all. Hence the title and unorthodox pairing. I know for a fact that I'm not the only fan of this pairing...I'm just the only one who still writes for it. ^^;;;
What Never Happened...Needed To
#03 - Soft
Neither of them have any softness about their bodies; being trained since early childhood in the ninja arts will do that to a person.
#04 - Pain
Nor are they strangers to pain; scars criss-cross their bodies and souls alike.
#13 - Death
And death is the sort of thing that follows shinobi throughout their lives; Lee worries more about the judgment that will be passed on Sasuke's soul than the one his own will receive.

A smile to hide the pain -- bright as the stars, to chase away the darkness in his soul -- yet behind it, Lee cannot quiet the voice screaming in the back of his mind: why can't he be like the others; why can't he use the chakra he knows he possesses; why must the price of dreams be so high...?

When Sasuke, mindful of the injuries that Lee suffered while fighting Gaara in the preliminaries, tries to take it easy on Lee, all it earns him is a hard punch in the face; Lee rants that his physical weakness isn't going to go away if Sasuke insists on coddling him.

It doesn't matter if Neji's Byakugan will always defeat Lee's taijutsu, or if Naruto's techniques will always surpass Sasuke's skills -- the two of them can be found at the training fields every afternoon, rain or shine, though they aren't always sparring with each other...

They go to the market together one day; Lee is unprepared for the sheer number of feminine glares levelled his way, and wonders how Sasuke can be deaf to the muttered threats that their female peers give him for "stealing Sasuke-kun" away from them all.

Shadows race over the ground, the shadows of clouds rushing the sun, as Lee directs the guards to shut the gates -- Sasuke realizes what Lee is doing and breaks into a run.
