Title: N/A
Pairing: Albus Dumbledore/Gellert Grindelwald (smidgen of Elphias/Albus in one)
Genre: Romance/Angst (because Albus is the quintessential flamboyant, gay, and very, very angsty wizard)
Rating: Mostly PG, but a few definitely R. (I am stupidly proud of myself for making it up to R.)
Table: Gamma
Author's Notes: ...All right, there is a formula to Grindeldore!fic. Well, it's multiple-choice, but still.
A) Albus waxes poetic about being in looooove~~~
B) Post-Grindeldore Albus is angsty to the point where he may be even more angsty than he is gay, and waxes poetic about that.
C) Gellert is arrogant, callous, or possibly both at once. Or an idiot. He can be that, too.
D) D for The Duel (and events before and after it)
E) Suffice to say, Albus did not die a virgin. In any sense.
...Eep. Must write that Triwizard Tournament-based AU, so that my middle name doesn't become Cliched. D:
(Oh, and the one use of "<[...]>" is meant to represent speech in German. Just as a note.)
Disclaimer: Not mine, JKR's. (And I dearly apologize to JKR for the meta-joke in one of the later sentences.)

01 - Ring
Gellert says they have no need to bother with a formal bonding; still, Albus thinks, caressing Gellert's hand, a ring would be nice, at least.

02 - Hero
To a young Albus, Gellert had been the very image of a Gryffindor hero of legend, bold, brave, and chivalrous - even his conquest of the Muggle world would be FOR THE MUGGLES' OWN GOOD -, handsome, with hair of gold - and now, Albus thinks dazedly as he stands over the defeated Dark Lord, he's even coughing up scarlet, doesn't that complete the image just perfectly?

03 - Memory
The handsome, golden-haired boy breaks the kiss and grins at his stunned companion, who is even now staring wide-eyed at the boy and blushing like a schoolgirl - and a far, far older Albus watches from the doorway, feeling the weight of every one of his years and some he has yet to live.

04 - Box
His duty to his family is a box, shutting him in, binding him, blotting out all light; only with Gellert is he free.

05 - Run
Gellert sits down in his bedroom back in his home country, shaken and trying to forget the day's events; at least, he assures himself somewhat hysterically, he told Great-Aunt Bathilda to tell Albus where he'd gone, so, in a few days, perhaps a week at most, funeral arrangements and all, Albus will be joining him here - won't he?

06 - Hurricane
G- The summer of 1899, Albus thinks, pushing away the name he cannot bear to remember, was like a hurricane; he - it - hit him all in a flurry, quite swept away his mind, and when it passed, he was left kneeling in the wreckage, left only with a shattered fraternal bond, a murdered sister, and a broken heart.

07 - Wings
Now the wax is melted, and Icarus must plummet to the ground; but this one only wishes the fall had killed him.

08 - Cold
When Albus asks Gellert what Durmstrang was like, Gellert shrugs and says the teachers were cowards, the students were fools, and the nights were far too cold; "But now, ven I return home, I vill not haff to worry about keeping vorm at night," he says, leering at Albus, and Albus turns scarlet.

09 - Red
This stupid, stupid little boy has no right to tell he and Albus what to do, and Gellert sees red.

10 - Drink
"I'd never drink," Gellert says disdainfully, watching Aberforth stumble back into the house after a night of running wild, reeking of alcohol, "it rots the mind - don't you agree, Albus?"; Albus, watching Gellert, agrees absently and wonders why he'd bother: he's already drunk.

11 - Midnight
At midnight, it occurs to Albus, lying in bed next to Gellert, that he should have been home hours ago; he dismisses the thought, rests his head against Gellert's, and joins him in sleep.

12 - Temptation
Even after the end of all things, he tells even Harry he avoided Grindelwald for so long because he feared him; the truth was that he feared that, if he met Grindelwald again, face to face, he would lack the strength to resist temptation, and be lost.

13 - View
Well, Grindelwald thinks bitterly, staring out the window, at least Albus gave him a cell with a view.

14 - Music
Albus has always appreciated music in all its forms, from birdsong to symphonies; he decides that the noises Gellert makes as Albus pushes inside him are the best music of all.

15 - Silk
The Cloak of Invisibility is smoother than silk as Dumbledore lets it pour through his fingers, and for a moment of weakness, he wishes Gellert were with him to see this, that they were young, and had never parted, and sat together, rejoicing in the capture of a Hallow; then, he opens his eyes and looks around the empty office, his only companions the portraits of former Headmasters, and sighs.

16 - Cover
"This is a Dark Arts text," Albus says warily as he stares at the book's cover; Gellert shrugs carelessly and says, "Ja, it is."

17 - Promise
The boy has promise, Headmaster Black thinks, pity he's a Gryffindor; the boy has promise, Headmaster Dolohov thinks, pity he's near-mad.

18 - Dream
"This is just a dream, girl," Gellert says, waving a hand in front of Ariana's face; "This is just a dream," she repeats slowly, nodding, and as she wanders off, Gellert turns back to Albus, adjusts Albus's leg slung over his shoulder, and says brightly, "Now, vhere vere ve?"

19 - Candle
The sun is long since set, and they study together by candlelight; yes, Albus knows, he could always perform a Lumos, but this way seems a tad more - he flushes and tries to ignore the word, but it appears in his mind anyway: romantic.

20 - Talent
"Yes, it's a family talent, Mother had it, despite being Muggleborn; don't speak about it, though, please, it isn't thought well of in England," Albus says quietly, and Gellert raises his eyebrows; to think the English obsess so over a bit of hissing.

21 - Silence
After Albus tells him, Gellert is quiet, too quiet, for a time, and Albus fears what he thinks, if this was a mistake, if he has to Obliviate Gellert before he tells; "Filthy, filthy Muggles," Gellert says at last, shaking his head, his face contorted in hatred and disgust, "Animals, from the oldest to the youngest of them..."

22 - Journey
The journey to this point has been hard, harder than he ever expected, and tiring beyond belief; and even now, nearly at the height of his triumph, the Dark Lord Grindelwald still feels bitterness and regret that he had to go on it alone.

23 - Fire
He had thought Gellert was like a flame, bright, mesmerizing, full of life and warmth; he had forgotten fire burned.

24 - Strength
"Obviously, I vill dominate," Gellert insists as they wrestle in bed, "for I am stronger, and haff a - ahem - bigger und better 'vand'-"; "Ah, but I am superior at 'wandwork'," Albus pants, "and that shall give me the victory-"; "If you say VUN VURD about VANDVORK, I shall rip out your throat vith my TEETH-" Grindelwald screams at a befuddled Dumbledore before the Aurors come to take him away.

25 - Mask
He's known the Dumbledore boy for a week, and sometimes, it seems as if a greater, wearier mind works behind a naive, pompous mask; bah, Gellert thinks dismissively, the boy is probably exactly as much of a Muggle-loving mindlessly-memorizing twit as he seems.

26 - Ice
After Gellert, Albus has turned his heart to ice, alone, aloof, unloving; Elphias remains persistent, though, in trying to melt it.

27 - Fall
Pride cometh before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall -
An old saying

28 - Forgotten
What was between them now lies forgotten, the dreams of two young men together overshadowed by what two old men did apart.

29 - Dance
It is a dance, now, of words unspoken, deeds undone: I will not attack England, and you will not attack me.

30 - Body
Gellert laughs at the almost-worshipful look on Albus's face when he sees Gellert's naked body for the first time, but stops laughing when Albus moves his head downward and ohFaustthatmouthhowdoeshedothatwithhistongue; when Albus comes up for air, he chuckles at Gellert's disappointed groan and frantic demands that Albus resume what he was doing without delay.

31 - Sacred
No matter how much he himself dislikes Aberforth or how much he wishes he could be free of Ariana, the bonds of family are sacred; Albus wishes Gellert would understand that.

32 - Farewells
The letter, barely more than a note, but still something after all these years, says only I will not live out the year; goodbye; the message Albus receives in return, scrawled on the other side of his letter, reads I have a feeling that neither will I.

33 - World
And if it takes a bit of bloodshed and suffering to bring about the new, better world, what of it? - it will all be consigned to the history books, anyway.

34 - Formal
Somewhere, in some alternate universe, a certain someone is saying "No, Gellert, you cannot go out and address our followers wearing only a strategically placed sock - I know you'd use Warming Charms, but that isn't the point - yes, I know we have the Elder Wand and thus we could theoretically do anything we wished, but one has to respect formalities - you can't go out wearing NOTHING AT ALL either, you KNOW that isn't what I meant - ".

35 - Fever
As Gellert describes his vision for the new world, he grows more and more animated, his hands flashing through the air, his accent thickening, his eyes growing brighter and brighter until they look almost fevered - and Albus, enthralled, shuts his creeping recognition of what that look means away in the dark and quiet corner of his mind where he keeps the things that he knows but refuses to comprehend.

36 - Laugh
Gellert had a wonderful laugh, full of life and joy and vigor, Albus thought; but now, as it rings in his ears as Aberforth screams under the Cruciatus, it seems like the most horrible sound in the world.

37 - Lies
"No, I didn't find him stuffy at all."; "I hold no ill will towards Muggles."; "Yes, Albus, I vill always knock und vait for someone to open the door before coming into your house."; "I do not wish to be vigorously buggered by Bathilda's great-nephew, Aberforth, and you must learn to not use such filthy language and describe those acts so vividly - how did you know about them in such detail, by the way?"; "Yes, I see the need for moderation."; "Elphias was only a friend."; "I von't hurt your brother in any way, regardless of how much he deserves it."; "I shall recover, Elphias."; ""; "I know you are not mad."; "I haff never seen your sort before, Riddle."; "I think the Dark Lord will fall without a mere Transfiguration Professor's intervention, thank you."; "I do not know this Albus Dumbledore, and I do not fear him."; and the greatest lie of all: "I no longer love you, and I do not wish to join you."

38 - Forever
Once they have united the Hallows, they shall live and rule forever; death shall never part them.

39 - Overwhelmed
All Albus can think about right now is how Gellert feels thrusting inside him, and Gellert's hand pumping his cock, and ohGellert.

40 - Whisper
"I love you," Albus whispers, and when Gellert seems not to hear him, he turns away; for a moment, he fancies he feels Gellert squeeze his hand, but supposes he imagined it.

41 - Wait
For a short time after it's all fallen apart, both of them wait: one for his lover to return, the other for his lover to follow.

42 - Talk
"Can't be bothered to be responsible, can't be bothered to pay attention even when he's home, because he's too busy talking to Grindelwald..." Aberforth mutters as he and Ariana feed the goats, and Ariana, oblivious to his mood, chirps, "Not just talking!"

43 - Search
Desperately, the English search for someone, anyone, who can stop Lord Grindelwald, but the only man who can hides, from his past, from his present, and from what he knows will be his future.

44 - Hope
Ariana still doubts greatly, but some small part of her hopes that Gelly and Alby are right, that they can change things, that she could have a purpose helping them, and that, after all this time, the world can be made right.

45 - Eclipse
Beyond King's Cross, someone snorts, "Sparkling vampires, exploding werewolves, and blithering idiots - bah, Albus, just hand me one of the volumes of that Skeeter woman's distant Muggle cousin's biography of Potter - at least that piece of popular Muggle pulp is entertaining."

46 - Gravity
As surely as apples must fall to the ground when ripe, the two of them had to meet and - become companions, Gellert thinks, side-stepping a word that would make him sound like a romantic fool, even if he might feel that way.

47 - Highway
"Regardless of what methods our enemies use, we must take the higher path, or become no better than them," Albus insists; Gellert gives an exasperated sigh.

48 - Unknown
Gellert offers to teach Albus Dark Arts, saying that his ignorance of them is a serious gap in his education; he tries to refuse Gellert, but Albus has never been able to resist the lure of the unknown.

49 - Lock
The door of Albus's room is locked again, and Aberforth wonders who he thinks he's fooling; they aren't exactly quiet, and he can hear every one of Albus's grunts and cries, Grindelwald's gasps and groans, and the bed creaking under them as Albus buggers the German pretty boy like it's New Year's in Sodom, and he hates Albus for letting his infatuation with a handsome bastard overrule all his familial duties, hates Grindelwald for stealing Albus away from them, and even hates Doge for going off on the planned world tour alone, becuse if Doge was here, Albus would stay with him and not lock his family out for goddamn Gellert Grindelwald.

50 - Breathe
"Breathe," Gellert murmurs into Albus's ear, smirking, as he finishes pushing into Albus for the first time.
