Fandom: Sonic the Hedgehog
Pairing: Scratch/Grounder
Theme set: Beta
Rating: Hopelessly and utterly G.
Warning[s]: Robotic slash! Other than that, nothing.
23. Question: Scratch was used to dismissing Grounder's questions, as they were typically vapid and stupid; however, when Grounder put forth a tough one - "Do you like me, Scratch?" - he was stumped.
38. Sojourn: When they were finally permitted a day off, they promptly took it and spent it at the Robot Villa.
05. Worry: Though he knew that Scratch would get put back together, Grounder was still fraught with worry while he watched his friend tumble down the mountain.
45. Natural: Between a couple of abrasive, villainous robots like them, it was natural for a sense of competitiveness to arise.
20. Bane: Grounder was the bane of Scratch's existence, but try as he might, Scratch couldn't ever really hate him.
04. Wonder: Scratch would often ruminate on why Grounder was the one to get all the cool gadgets.
09. War: "What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!" Scratch sang along shrilly, and Grounder feebly tried to join in.
28. Jousting: "En garde!" said Scratch, and they continued their match, with Grounder naturally using the sword that came with all his other accessories.
36. Sordid: They knew they were villains, and that what they were doing was unfair, despicable, and horrid - but it was their job, and they enjoyed it.
19. Balcony: At the very top of Robotnik's fortress was a tiny balcony, and until yesterday night he thought it was a secret spot.
32. Sorrow: Scratch unexpectedly found himself saddened when he learned that Grounder, who'd done nothing wrong, had been absolutely trashed by Sonic and Tails.
07. Waste/Wasteland: The two robots clutched onto each other, shaking, when an infuriated Robotnik told them they'd have to be junked for good.
46. Horizon: Sunsets were always dazzlingly colourful in Mobius, and as the two robots rode in Robotnik's Egg-O-Matic after another failed mission, they couldn't help but admire the vivid pinks and purples.
35. Sarcasm: "Ooh, I'm all aflutter with excitement!" cooed Scratch; Grounder took him at his word and beamed proudly.
16. Breaking: Whenever klutzy Grounder's limbs detached, the equally clumsy Scratch would gamely try to repair them, resulting in such atrocities as Grounder's arm sticking out of his nose.
41. Nowhere: Neither had the audacity to ask Dr. Robotnik where he was taking them.
42. Neutral: Sonic was rather neutral as to whether Grounder or Scratch was winning the argument - he was just glad that he'd distracted them long enough to escape.
22. Quirks: One day, Grounder started emitting typical robot speech, replete with "bleeps" and "bloos"; Scratch solved this by slapping him upside the head.
25. Quitting: "That's it, I quit!" Scratch said, storming out, and Grounder stood, open-mouthed, stammering in a tiny voice: "You're leaving?"
01. Walking: They'd occasionally take a nice stroll outside the fortress, and always arrive late, to Robotnik's threats of disassembling them.
43. Nuance: Coconuts had begun to sense that they talked like an old married couple.
21. Quiet: It seemed eerily quiet when Robotnik opened the door; he tiptoed in and saw his two robots asleep, Grounder's head leaning on Scratch's shoulder, in the far corner of the room.
08. Whiskey and rum: "Aw, you're so pretty, Scratch," Grounder said, teetering along; Scratch responded to this by leaning in and kissing him.
18. Balloon: Grounder tried to make up for the fact that he'd massively angered Scratch by buying him a present: "I got you a balloon."
12. Blessing: When Robotnik finally got around to rebuilding Grounder, Scratch was secretly pleased.
30. Just: "It's not fair," thought Grounder as he saw Scratch walk off with Dr. Robotnik, leaving him behind.
49. Victory: As Sonic watched the two dumbbots leave the scene, battered and holding each other, he was glad that they were victorious in at least one respect.
15. Breathing: "Which way'd he go?" said an exhausted Scratch, panting; "My treads are hurting," complained an equally winded Grounder.
17. Belief: Scratch thought of Grounder as a loveable moron; Grounder thought of Scratch as his intelligent, if bossy, pal; Coconut believed the two to be useless.
47. Valiant: "All right, buster," Scratch screeched at Sonic, who'd just knocked Grounder to the floor: "nobody messes with my boyfriend and gets away with it!"
34. Serenade: Grounder wondered why Scratch had greeted him in a tux that day, a rose in his mouth - that is, until Scratch offered him his hand.
40. Solitary: It just wasn't fun, not having Grounder to boss around.
29. Jewel: Scratch bought a white ring for the way it looked; it led to a lot of "Ooh, who's the lucky bride? Or..." and subsequent gestures to the oblivious teal robot frequently at his side.
50. Defeat: "Aw, why do the good guys always win?" Grounder asked Scratch as they sat watching the cop show; Scratch smiled and hugged him tight.
10. Weddings: "You may now kiss the bride," Sonic said, and Scratch didn't even pause to think about why Sonic had played minister to them, or why they were even having a wedding, before pressing his lips to Grounder's.
27. Jester: "Do you think I am just a buffoon - a playtoy for your amusement?" Robotnik shouted, and the two bots were thinking inwardly, "Yes."
11. Birthday: Both had the same birthday and would get gifts for each other; Scratch invariably got Grounder something useful, like a new carburetor, while Grounder would give Scratch something silly, like a nice hat.
24. Quarrel: Arguments were exceedingly common with the two, but they were never serious enough to break up the duo.
06. Whimsy: Grounder was always coming up fanciful but impractical ideas to catch Sonic, and Scratch was always refuting them.
03. Wishes: They sat out in the balcony, wishing on shooting stars; Grounder's wish was phrased more like a question: Do you like me, Scratch?
02. Waltz: "Oh, Grounder, for the last time it's step forward, step back, step, step, twirl!"
13. Bias: It was hard for either one to argue with Dr. Robotnik's motives, since both of them were created evil.
14. Burning: "Aah! My arm's burning! Help me, Grounder!" Grounder tried to put out the fire, but all he succeeded at doing was getting his own drill flaming.
48. Virtuous: Grounder idolized Scratch; being that he thought Scratch was ten times smarter, faster, and handsomer than he was, this was inevitable.
33. Stupidity: Both got used to the barrage of insults they got from Dr. Robotnik after they botched his plans.
39. Share: "Scratch, quit hogging the blanket!"
26. Jump: It was natural for Scratch to leap into Grounder's comforting arms as a sign of fear - but it was rarely, as it was here, a sign of flirtatious affection.
44. Near: Somehow, Grounder felt safer when his avian companion was near.
37. Soliloquy: "Tubey or not tubey, that is the question - what? What'd I say?"
31. Smirk: Grounder didn't like it when Scratch coyly played with his antenna, then left with a smirk; it made him feel...peculiar.
