Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Pairing: Genesis/Cloud
Theme set: Gamma
Title: The Chocobo and the Phoenix
Rating: R
Warning[s]: Slash, spoilers for Crisis Core
1)Ring
The shrill ringtone shatters the peace between them, but Genesis only grabs the blasted phone and throws it across the room; right now he has other more important things (such as a needy blond he had tied up) to attend to.
2)Hero
"I will be a hero to put even Sephiroth in the shade!" declares Genesis, and it hits Cloud that perhaps he and the strange, melodramatic man are not too dissimilar in that respect.
3)Memory
It was sitting alone in Aerith's church late at night that Cloud suddenly remembered red hair, an arrogant smirk and a name that made his heart ache and wonder just how he could have forgotten his first love and first betrayal.
4)Box
If he kept his feelings of Cloud boxed up then nobody would realise, nobody would use Cloud to try and drag him back to Shinra, nobody would realise monsters could apparently love.
5)Run
"If you hurt Cloud again you better realise there's nowhere to hide from me," Tifa said, giving Genesis a glare that Angeal in full lecture mode would have been proud of.
6)Hurricane
Seeing Cloud in battle for the first time since they were reunited left Genesis in a daze, he hadn't seen anybody outside of himself and Sephiroth fight with such skill and ferocity.
7)Wings
The first time his wing appeared, Genesis was glad that Cloud had not been there to witness the blood or hear his screams of agony, and seeing the proud man being so broken and betrayed by his own body.
8)Cold
It was confusing and worrying that Genesis was starting to grow cooler towards him, but Cloud figured that it was just stress over the upcoming mission to Wutai - hopefully when Genesis came back things would go back to normal.
9)Red
All it took was a glimpse of that familiar bright red coat and hair and Cloud's heart would speed up with anticipation; whatever you said about Genesis life with him was never dull.
10)Drink
He should have felt guilty for giving an underage teen a drink (or more) but given how willing a drunk Cloud was to be fucked senseless against the wall Genesis really couldn't find it in himself to care too much.
11)Midnight
It was certainly late by the time Cloud managed to get back to his dorm room, he didn't mind though, it would be nasty trying to explain to any people he bumped into the slight limp or the claiming bite marks that were all over his neck.
12)Temptation
"Ah, how Angeal would lecture me about being dishonourable, but you really would tempt even a saint or the Goddess herself, my pretty little Cloud."
13)View
Genesis smirks and leans back, intent of admiring the sight before him; Cloud panting, flushed and lying on his back, legs spread and waiting for him.
14)Music
It's a terrible cliche to say that someone's moans sound like music, but to Cloud hearing Genesis start to lose control it really is, especially knowing no-one else gets to hear or see Genesis in such a vulnerable way.
15)Silk
"Get on your knees then Private," that silky voice purred in his ear, and Cloud was only too willing to obey.
16)Cover
Genesis would never tell Angeal exactly how grateful he was to his childhood friend for telling Hollander he was too busy with paperwork to attend his latest check-up, while actually he had been too busy molesting his blond sex toy in an empty training room, even if Angeal generally disapproved of such little lies.
17)Promise
"I made him a promise I'd live out both our lives," Cloud said softly, and suddenly it hits Genesis that perhaps the Puppy was Cloud's version of Angeal.
18)Dream
It was pathetic that after Genesis' desertion, all Cloud had was dreams of what he had lost, dreams that would wake him up in the middle of the night with their intensity and dreams that would break him a little bit more each time.
19)Candle
One of the best nights they shared together was an odd one; a power cut in Genesis' apartment had led to the two of them huddled together in bed with only candles for light, and Genesis would never admit how much he had enjoyed simply..being with Cloud.
20)Talent
The blond may not have had the skills deemed necessary to be accepted into SOLDIER, but right now he was proving to Genesis that he definitely had talent in other areas, since how on earth could anybody's tongue feel that damn good?
21)Silence
Following the murder of his 'parents' Genesis fleetingly wished Cloud was there to break the deadening silence, but forced himself not to think of the things he had left in Midgar.
22)Journey
The turbulence of the flight, the ungraceful way they landed near Modeoheim and even his motion sickness didn't disturb Cloud as much as the thought that finally, finally he might get to see Genesis once more.
23)Fire
It felt as if he was being burned alive, the raw need that seemed to take over as Genesis kissed him hard, pushing him up against the door possessively, the older man already trying to rid him of his uniform.
24)Strength
Before Genesis had prided himself on his power and skill, but now he can admit it's Cloud who is the truly strong one, the one who suffered so much more yet still stood up no matter how often he got knocked down.
25)Mask
With both Angeal and Sephiroth now dead it was only Cloud who could see past the mask Genesis wore, and it still annoyed the former SOLDIER that apparently even after all that time Cloud could read him so easily.
26)Ice
"Zack died so that I'd live, so don't talk about things you know nothing about," was Cloud's icy response to Genesis' mocking words over how clumsy and naive the Puppy had been.
27)Fall
Looking back on it, it was obvious that his fall into madness and revenge that drove Sephiroth to his own fall, and it made him feel guilt to know it had almost led Cloud to his too.
28)Forgotten
Cloud tilts his head, wondering why the tattered old book he had found while searching for the next key card to proceed upwards and to save Aerith seems so familiar, but he just can't place it.
29)Dance
Denzel can only watch open mouthed as Genesis and Cloud have a little sparring session in the Midgar desert; the way they move almost like a dance, one that Genesis once shared with Sephiroth - it's now one exclusively for Cloud.
30)Body
The first time after Cloud forgives him is unusually slow and tender, as Genesis takes his time to relearn the body he desires so much - to mourn over new (even if to Cloud they are old) scars, but also to admire the adult Cloud has become.
31)Sacred
Genesis didn't regret taking Cloud to Banora to visit the cavern where Zack and he had duelled, and where he had seen Minerva; the reverent look on Cloud's face made it all worthwhile reliving it.
32)Farewells
"He never even said goodbye," Cloud said mournfully to himself, picking up the few personal items he had kept in Genesis' rooms, somehow knowing he wouldn't be back in that place either.
33)World
"This time it is my duty to protect the Planet," Genesis said firmly, determined to pay back what he owed to the Goddess for healing him and to Cloud for giving him that second chance.
34)Formal
Genesis wished he could take Cloud with him to the next boring social function he would be forced to attend, but he doubted that the President and his flunkies would enjoy the sight of him having his wicked way with the blond in public like that.
35)Fever
Genesis can only snarl with frustration at the news; Cloud had fallen sick and therefore wouldn't be keeping to their appointment this time, and suddenly the red haired man has to wonder why by the Goddess he's so disappointed that the little infantryman wouldn't be there.
36)Laugh
He would've normally have assumed it was some sort of cruel joke at his expense - that a handsome SOLDIER known to be a friend of Sephiroth himself would even look twice at a below average trooper like himself, but the intense look Genesis was giving him (and even Cloud knew what that sort of look hinted at) helped persuade him that perhaps the red haired man was being serious.
37)Lies
Genesis insists he is fine and that Cloud is just worrying and it's a sign of how much Genesis has been degraded by hate as well as his sickness when he can't bring himself to care.
38)Forever
Neither of them will say it - Genesis is too proud, and Cloud too afraid that he'll lose it again - but both of them believe this time they can make it work, and can only hope it endures.
39)Overwhelmed
"This is your first time, correct? Then I'll understand if you don't last long, I'll do my best to give you all the pleasure I can," - and with those words uttered by that sinfully arousing voice Cloud nearly came undone already.
40)Whisper
It was oh so hard to keep his voice down to a mere whisper with Genesis' hands and lips roaming all over him, but knowing he couldn't alert the rest of the building to their late night activities meant Cloud had to at least try.
41)Wait
"I thought you said we have to wait until Tifa took the kids out," Genesis murmured, but he really wasn't complaining as Cloud pressed against him, lips hungrily attacking his neck.
42)Talk
Part of Cloud cynically notes that perhaps one of the reasons why Genesis sought him out to apologise was that talking would be preferable to getting his ass handed to him by the person who stopped Sephiroth three times already.
43)Search
As much as Cloud wished to leave Midgar to find his missing lover, he can't desert Shinra himself; unlike Genesis he wouldn't survive if the army (or worse, they sent a SOLDIER) followed him.
44)Hope
It was strange, waking up with Cloud next to him and realising how happy he was, how much he looked forward to a future that once upon a time he had tried to destroy.
45)Eclipse
Genesis was always highly proud of Rapier, but he can't contain a small sigh of jealously at the sight of the six swords now displayed in front of his eyes; Cloud has clearly become a force to contend with, and for once Genesis finds he doesn't mind that his own skills are for once in the shade.
46)Gravity
Unlike Sephiroth or Genesis Cloud can't fly, but it doesn't matter, because he knows someone has to keep his melodramatic, ambitious lover grounded, and so it might as well be him.
47)Highway
His encounter with Zack and the comatose Cloud on the road from Gongaga made him feel some regret at seeing Cloud so lifeless, but he knew it was too late to turn back now.
48)Unknown
Private Strife didn't know too much about that arrogant person (what was his name again? Genesis something?) who was well known to be friends with the General, but perhaps that was made him agree to the arrangement that would change his life.
49)Lock
He really, really hoped that Genesis was just messing with his mind when the man suddenly sat up, gave him a look as he tugged on the handcuffs and simply stated - "I can't remember where I put the key."
50)Breathe
Genesis took a deep breath, knowing that Cloud could either give him a second chance or kill him, but even if it were too late he owed it to finally admit his humanity and his mistakes to Cloud.
