Notes: Not really pairing them, so much as just focusing on the two brohers. Generous helping of other characters, too.
1. Air
Sam felt lighter than air, even though it was Dean Cass had taken flying.
2. Apples
Dean could not stand apples or scarecrows after that, and he decked Sam for leaving both on his bed one night.
3. Beginning
Dean watched the house burn and thought it would make a great beginning to a story, if only his mom would come out.
4. Bugs
Dean didn’t understand how Sam was still not freaked out by bugs, especially after almost being killed by them.
5. Coffee
Maybe the best breakfast on Earth, the boys decided they’d best give their angel hot chocolate next time, even if watching him bounce about made Sam laugh.
6. Dark
“Dean, it’s dark, can I sleep with you tonight?”
7. Despair
Dean tried to ignore the look in Sam’s eyes when he figured out what his brother had done to get him back.
8. Doors
“Dammit Sammy, why’d you lock the door?”

Castiel had agreed to get the boys to bed; Bobby hadn’t told him that Sam couldn’t stop laughing or that Dean thought the angel made a great pillow.

Chuck stared at the phone in his hand, knowing he needed to tell Bobby how it was going to end, but still terrified of what Dean would do when he found out.

They weren’t worried their angel would fall; they’d both promised to kick Cass’ ass if he tried.

Of all the things that had bothered Dean since he’d gotten back from Hell, Sam found it oddly amusing that fire didn’t make the list.

“Sam, you should have seen it, this girl could bend in ways that were just mind-blowing!”

Dean didn’t usually fuss, but the one time John had taken the boys on a plane and made them sit separate Dean had screamed, really screamed, until the flight attendant agreed the children could be seated together.

Having a broken foot was no fun, but it did mean that Dean stayed home with him instead of hunting with Daddy, so Sam only complained sometimes.

They’d been digging up graves for years, but the day Sam dug one for his brother it finally hit home what that hole in the ground really was.

Sam knew Cass was really “Dean’s angel” the day his older brother sat the being down and explained why you didn’t eat green food instead of just handing him the trash can.

Being head of a family was hard, especially when your sons decide to through a coup and sneak out…again.

The Impala seemed strangely hollow without Dean, like the car missed him as much as any human did.

“Hey, this isn’t a question of honor, it’s a question of pride, and I am NOT dying my hair that color!”

Angels often brought hope, so the day their angel lost his the Winchester’s knew they were in trouble.

Castiel wasn’t sure how to react to the Winchester’s sudden interest in his faith in stopping the apocalypse, nor Sam’s declaration that he was “our light, and if you start to fail we can’t do this Cass, so come on!”

He was going to get their angel back, because at this rate Sam was going to lose his brother, too.

There was a difference between rock and metal, and Dean just wouldn’t be a good brother is Sammy never learned to tell music styles apart.
