Fandom: Final Fantasy X
Pairing: Auron x Braska
Theme set: Alpha
Title: Unknown Soldiers
Rating: PG - Light R
Warning[s]: Tons of spoilers! Also, it's obviously gay boys, so yeah - don't like it - don't read it.

.) Comfort - The night before the long trek through Zanarkand made Auron go into a silent panic, fitfully checking his inventory over and over again, but the warm arm of his lord summoner around his bare waist brought relief.

.) Kiss - Their first kiss had caught them both off guard, and thankfully off and away from Jecht’s always rolling camera-like spheres.

.) Soft - When the opportunity came to bathe at last, Auron reveled in it, but more-so in the way Braska’s hair felt once it was dry, the smooth waves caressing his roughened skin and also soothing his summoner into a dreamless sleep.

.) Pain - He ignored the blood that ran freely from his eye socket, the visionary organ torn from his body and staring blankly at the evaporating pyreflies stealing away Braska’s soul to an eternity of nothingness; the pain in his body reflected nothing of the agony in his mind for letting his dearest friend die so horribly.

.) Potatoes - Having been raised by the temple and its teachings, Auron had been instructed to never divulge in heathen rituals, but Braska’s rich tasting meal from the recipe book of his deceased wife made the guardian cast aside his faith and turn to starchy vegetables.

.) Rain - Braska had never been to Macalania before and Auron wished for his charming lover to witness the beauty of the snowy range contrasted against the frozen lake, but his dreamy wishes were ruined by an unfavorable freezing rain, rushing their journey through the frigid land at a rate that they couldn’t stop to enjoy it.

.) Chocolate - Temptations were everywhere in Bevelle, despite its holy status among Spira, and Auron had even refused the hand of the priest’s daughter; he never suspected he would fall captive to the gentle eyes of a man clad in a summoner’s garb wishing to save their land from devastation.

.) Happiness - Joy was always fleeting in Spira as Sin tore life away from the thousands that populated the land; it was no different for a summoner and his guardians, each one dying a little more every day on the inside from the tragedy soon to come.

.) Telephone - By word of mouth, Braska had heard the news that Auron had turned down marrying the priest’s daughter and the bold man found the courage to laugh at the irony - Auron was as religious as they could get, but refused the marriage because it was too political?

.) Ears - Auron loved the timid touch of Braska’s fingertips pulling loose the tangles in his hair, soft tones vibrating in his ear to send chills down his spine for what was to come.

.) Name - Granted the infamous title of “legendary guardian”, Auron felt contempt for the name, yet the occasional praise from those he met in his after life brought back memories of the laurels Braska seemed to always lay at his feet, praising him and thanking him for his devoted service on their journey together.

.) Sensual - Though he was a summoner, Braska wasn’t the flowery, flamboyant type of man he was suspected to be; his sense of humor proved that on many occasions, and his carefree innuendo had a tendency to embarrass the young Auron, especially when around Jecht who always seemed to give them a hard time about their so-called “secret relationship”.

.) Death - “I won’t let you die! I won’t let you die!” Auron screamed it over and over every night in his dreams, but every morning he awoke to not see Braska at his side.

.) Sex - “I’ve had enough of your jokes and fiendish innuendo,” Auron said gruffly, grappling the summoner by the arms, though he did so gently to not bruise the man, “You’re all talk and no action - care to prove me wrong?”

.) Touch - Braska once hated leather; the smell had always bothered him, however when he met the famous warrior monk for the first time and he shook hands with one wrapped in a leather glove, he began to love it and even its aroma.

.) Weakness - Fearless against fiends, the Yevonite priests and even Sin itself, Braska was unbreakable and without shame - it was Auron that he was afraid for once the time came for them to part ways.

.) Tears - The duct in his right eye had been sealed shut from blood loss, but on the inside, Auron wept shamelessly for his friend, the hero of Spira and father to a now orphaned little girl, one whom he did not feel he could even live to tell of her father’s bravery.

.) Speed - In his early years, Auron didn’t have the grace and personality that Braska had, but for what he lacked on the battlefield, he made up for on late nights.

.) Wind - Changes in wind speed varied by their location, but the closer they came to Zanarkand, the harsher the gusts became, almost as if the mountains were begging them to turn back from this sacred place, but Braska had made his decision long ago - he would bring the Calm so that his daughter could sleep peacefully at night, if only for a short time.

.) Freedom - Pyreflies that had been preserving his physical form painlessly ate away at him, sweeping Auron into a glowing vortex with voices both familiar and non until he finally met with the high summoner, Braska beaming proudly at his dear friend, “You did it, Auron - now you’re free.”

.) Life - Auron fretted and panicked for a few brief seconds in the Calm Lands, both Braska and Jecht unconscious and a massive chimera was in front of him; bad time to forget his curative spells…

.) Jealousy - “My lord, forgive me, but this drunkard - a guardian?” Auron was enraged to think that his lover would want another along for their journey, and a sacrilegious fool at that.

.) Hands - From one hand to the other, Braska’s staff flowed smoothly into each motion of the dance for those unsent, and Auron watched with humility, shamefully not for the fallen, but for the beauty he was witnessing.

.) Taste - “Breakfast was good this morning…” Braska said with a chuckle, causing Auron to blush and Jecht to wonder why he didn’t get any.

.) Devotion - “Are you sure this is what you want?” Braska had asked the warrior monk who was ‘retiring early’ from his holy services, and the soon after heartfelt pledge of devotion to the summoner’s cause stayed fresh in Braska’s memory until his final moments.

.) Forever - The night before facing Zanarkand’s mysteries was too short, but Braska made the most of it, staying safe and warm in the arms of his beloved friend and guardian, wishing the sensual moments they had spent together could last for eternity.

.) Blood - Braska had never been more appalled in his life, red bitterness dripping from his fingers - his lovers’ essence - but when he woke, he felt the reassuring and firm grip of Auron’s sword arm wrapped tightly around his waist.

.) Sickness - Watching the scene of Braska being absorbed into the body of his newly formed aeon made Auron’s feverish temper reach new highs, but his heart was pounding like drums to intervene somehow.

.) Melody - In the quiet and surprisingly still air of Mount Gagazet, three friends began to sing their ancient hymn; Braska sang with soft passion, Auron with shy sorrow and Jecht could only hum the tune - the song was meant to soothe one’s troubles, and yet for Auron it was only growing more painful.

.) Star - Now an icon among the people of Spira, Auron despised the hysteria surrounding his so-called “legendary” status - everyone praised him through his obvious failures, and then in the midst of their glories they forgot all about the two men that had really paid the ultimate price.

.) Home - Bevelle, his home since birth was now a place both summoner and guardian forced themselves to forget at journey’s end, and for Auron it was no different when he stormed the red carpet to intercept Yuna’s wedding.

.) Confusion - Auron blushed furiously when Jecht suggested for he and Braska to make better use of the Moonflow - the guardian wondered nervously if Jecht knew of the intimate relationship he had been sharing with Braska.

.) Fear - Every time Braska danced for those unsent, Auron felt an unsettling ache in his bones - this dance would one day send him to the Farplane, and he prayed his lord would not be obligated with such a dismissive task.

.) Lightning/Thunder - Unlike Jecht and his show-off tactics, Braska was graceful in dodging each lightning strike; Auron wished he had a spare sphere to record the summoner’s “stellar moves”.

.) Bonds - When he first heard about Auron, Braska feared him to be of the arrogant and hot-headed sort; the assumption wasn’t far off, but upon meeting the warrior monk, he felt an instant connection that sparked something unique in his veins.

.) Market - Braska grinned at the fine weapon, the long sword resonating harmonious sounds as the merchant show-cased it to the potential buyer - Auron would be so surprised!

.) Technology - Auron hated the use of machine, having been one of the bull-headed few to choose a sword - his summoner preferred his guardian with the glorious weapon - he said it made Auron look intimidating and even more attractive.

.) Gift - “M-my lord,” Auron was stunned at the perfect symmetry of the sword, admiring the craftsmanship with prodigious awe, “This must have cost a fortune!”

.) Smile - On the rare occasion that Auron did genuinely smile, Braska felt taken and vulnerable to his guardian’s playful tactics.

.) Innocence - Every night before they would reture, the three of them prayed for the young girl living in the Bevelle temple; Braska knew one day her path would likely follow his, and so he asked Auron to also guard Yuna some day.

.) Completion - The ritual was done and the pyreflies were looming over him - Auron wept quietly of the useless sacrifices just made, “And… the cycle went on.”

.) Clouds - The pyreflies were thick and heavy in Zanarkand, almost like a dense fog of memories that should have been left in peace, but Braska and his guardians were forced to watch the sad replays of those departed.

.) Sky - Bahamut, the dragon of Bevelle’s sacred temple was Braska’s first and most trusted aeon, however achieving the successful union with him was difficult; Auron had worried for hours about Braska’s safety within the Chamber of the Fayth, but forced himself to not run in after the man, even after two days.

.) Heaven - Achieving the blend with his aeons was Braska’s greatest joy aside from Yuna, however Auron’s possessive kisses were proving to be more than competitive.

.) Hell - The distinct and dreadful roar of the new force that was Jecht sent a shudder of trepidation running through Auron’s body - he had to be strong for Braska, though, “I will follow you unto death, my lord, even if it sends me to Hell!”

.) Sun - Auron had missed the cool sea breezes of Bevelle’s port, however Braska’s chattering of a distant Al Bhed island with deserts and beaches caused Auron’s mind to often drift to a naughty place.

.) Moon - Waiting until Jecht was asleep, the two of them would sneak off into the night to engage in their few and far between rituals, each enjoying the closeness of the other’s arms wrapped around their body and melting into kisses that grew more and more desperate the closer they got to the end of the summoner’s road.

.) Waves - The port town of Kilika was famous for its hospitality, bestowing leis to all visitors and offered the most comfortable accommodations, too - for Auron, Braska and Jecht… the honeymoon suite was provided.

.) Hair - “I miss Yuna so much…” Braska sighed as he played with Auron’s hair and then smiled - his guardian had no idea that his ponytail had just been braided.

.) Supernova - The rippling effect of the explosion from Braska’s favorite spell made Auron grin; the look of glory and accomplishment on Braska’s face was so much like the expressions he saw last night.
