Notes: The sentences don't really follow any order, and they vary from his point of view and hers, but the general theme seems to be angst, with a few happy sentences for good measure.

A furtive glance was all he needed to know that she still thought about him - this alone offered him comfort.

When he kissed her, she felt it in every inch of her body, and she thought she would burst into flames.

His skin was soft against her cheek as she nestled closer to him in bed.
04. Pain
You pretend it doesn't bug you after all these months, but admit it - every time you see him with Addison, the pain in your heart takes your breath away.
05. Potatoes
Your night to make dinner - peel the potatoes over the kitchen sink, watching the knife slice through the rough brown skin, and think of him.
06. Rain
She walked away from him, her head high, gritting her teeth to keep from crying, wondering how many more times she would leave him standing alone in the rain.
07. Chocolate
No matter how much chocolate - supposedly the choice food for the broken hearted - she ate, the dull ache of missing him would not go away.
08. Happiness
Seeing him look as miserable as she felt during the Christmas season gave her a sense of tranquil happiness - not because he was miserable and misery loves company, but because it meant that he maybe missed her the way she missed him.

Every time his cell phone rang, he'd look at the caller ID eagerly, hoping it would be Meredith, but it never was.

He asked why the interns called him "McDreamy" and when she told him, she laughed because his ears had turned red with embarrassment.

It didn't matter that she didn't remember his name after the first night - she would never again forget it.

He was an incredibly sexy man, but the most sensual thing he did for her was to give her a foot massage after a thirty hour shift.

On the day her mother finally dies, there is only one person Meredith will want to comfort her - Derek Shephard.

Even though the sex was great, that wasn't the best part of their relationship - they just fit together like puzzle pieces.

For a minute, neither of them said a word, and then he laid his hand on her arm, and the simple gesture made her want to cry.

As Derek told Addison that he was still in love with Meredith, tears sprung surprisingly to his eyes - finally, he was telling the truth.

The speed at which they fell in love almost astonished both of them, but what could they do other than accept it?

He stood on the upper level of the ferry, leaning against the railing, the wind against his face, squinting and wondering how he would win Meredith back.
20. Freedom
Freedom - that was what she had before she met Derek, when her head didn't spin at the thought of a man.
21. Life
After her parents divorced, angrily and brutally, Meredith swore on her life that she would never fall in love - but then she had met Derek.
22. Jealousy
She was on a lunch break, eating and laughing with George, and Derek had never been so jealous in his life.
23. Hands
As the surgery went on, she watched his hands, covered by latex gloves, confident and steady, and wondered if they would ever gently stroke her hair again.
24. Taste
Their lips met and she realized how hungry she had been for the way he tasted - spearmint and orange-mint Aquafresh toothpaste.
25. Devotion
He was a devoted husband, even if his wife had not reciprocated the devotion, and Meredith appreciated that but wished at the same time that he was different.
26. Forever
When she said goodbye to him and walked away, he could not help but feel that this goodbye meant forever.
27. Blood
He glanced at her as she peeled off the bloody latex gloves, and when she caught him looking at her, he complimented her on a good job assisting the surgery.
28. Sickness
The vows said "in sickness and in health" and he believed in that, but the truth was, he was sick of the facade - of saying he loved one woman when he really loved another.
29. Melody
She longed to hear his voice so much that any word he spoke was like a beautiful melody.
30. Star
A lone star twinkled in the darkening sky and she reverted back to childhood by making a wish on it - she wished that she could put him behind her and move on.
31. Home
Addison mentioned something about going home and he thougth of the cliché, "home is where the heart is," and in that case, his home was with Meredith.
32. Confusion
The only thought she could focus on in her swirling mind was, "Derek's married?"
33. Fear
That she would begin to look at another man the way she used to look at him - that was Derek's worst fear.
34. Lightning/thunder
The brilliant flash followed closely by a loud rumble of thunder that shook the entire trailer forced Meredith from sleep while Derek lay next to her, peacefully unaware.
35. Bonds
Being from New York City, she expected him to know about stocks and bonds and NASDAQ, but he was really as clueless as she was.
36. Market
The open-air market - his new favorite place to go on the weekends, and he couldn't wait to take Meredith, having forgotten that she had grown up in Seattle and had probably been there before.
37. Technology
He was a surgeon, and surgeons live and breathe technology, but he especially loved it because it kept communication with Meredith at his fingertips.
38. Gift
He had made the mistake of buying her a gift months before Christmas, so it was hidden in his closet, forlorn and almost accusing - sometimes, he would stand in front of his closet, staring down at it.
39. Smile
The way she smield was ingrained in his memory - the way her eyes crinkled and the corners of her mouth tucked in.
40. Innocence
When she found out he was married, she realized just how innocent she had been and she hated it - she thought that any innocence in her had died years ago.
41. Completion
It was so cheesy and cliché to think that he completed her, but without him, she had the constant unpleasant feeling that she was missing something.
42. Clouds
She sat at her desk, staring out the wondow at the heavy, dark clouds that threatened rain, and thought about how even the weather was beginning to look the way she felt.
43. Sky
The sky was the color of steel, like the skyscrapers in his old hometown, so he tried to think about New York City - and Addison - but found his thoughts dwelled more on the color of the sky - grey.
44. Heaven
She was close enough to him on the couch that he could smell her hair and with the fire crackling in the fireplace in front of them, he thought that, if heaven existed, it couldn't be better than this.
45. Hell
On the other hand, Addison had once made his life hell, while without Meredith, his life felt like hell.
46. Sun
The sun glared down on him, as if it knew the lies he kept telling, and he knew that when it felt like inanimate objects were judging him, it was time for the truth.
47. Moon
He pulled away from the kiss to access her level of drunkenness, and when he shifted a little to the left, she caught a glimpse of the almost full moon, and she knew she wanted him to take her there.
48. Waves
Gentle, rolling waves lapped against the ferry boat, as they stood hand in hand on the deck, not speaking, yet unaware of the other passangers.
49. Hair
The way her hair smells: One of the thousand things he likes about her.
50. Supernova
From across the hall, she heard the shower start to run and knew that the day was beginning - then she heard him singing, probably louder than he realized, and she began to grin as she recognized the song - "Champagne Supernova," by that band she loved while she was an undergrad student.
