Kristy thinks she needs like she needs the air to breath.

The apples tumbled from the stand as Kristy and Mickey each picked on from the top, bumping heads as they leaned down to pick them up...he seemed bored with it, but he made her heart throb nonetheless.

"Seriously, Mary Anne, I swear, it's the beginning of a new relationship...no I don't know whether or not he has a girlfriend..."

“I hope this won’t bug him…” she ponders, slipping the note into his car window.

"Why shouldn't I drink coffee?" Kristy asked her mother, filling her mug with creamer. "Isn't that one of the things you do when you're desperate?"
