Title: Hopeful Romantic
Fandom: One Piece
Pairing: Zoro Roronoa x Nami
Theme set: Beta
Rating: PG
Warning[s]: References to Thriller Bark arc (#05), Enies Lobby arc (#09), Punk Hazard arc (#17), Arlong Park arc (#32), Arabasta arc (#30 & #49), and the time-skip (#46). Some cusses here and there, nothing serious... I think.
Notes: Beta is my least favorite of the 5 Theme Sets. There are many words which are new to me (since I'm not a native english speaker) and I had to look them up. Despite that, I think it came out overall well. You be the judges. Enjoy!
#01 - Walking
She took his hand in order to not get separated while walking through the town (he was surprised by this, but didn't complain or anything) and she chuckled at his expression; "don't look so surprised, now that we're dating I won't even charge you for holding my hand!"
#02 - Waltz
He was too clumsy to dance, but too stubborn to give up, and, much to her dismay, they kept practicing the dance all night; her feet hurted as if she had walked through fire the night before.
#03 - Wishes
She had been granted three wishes before blowing her candles, but she only needed one... that Zoro didn't go anywhere away from her.
#04 - Wonder
He still wondered how it was possible for the witch to change his mood with a simple, beautiful smile... must be some magic of hers or something...
#05 - Worry
He was certainly not worried for the witch's welfare... but if that cook failed to rescue her, Zoro would kick his shitty ass overboard.
#06 - Whimsy
Nami didn't qualify herself as whimsy, but Zoro sure as hell did; once he expressed this thought out loud and ended up with his debt being tripled again.
#07 - Waste/Wasteland
Her smile was so beautiful, it would be a complete waste if it stopped being present on her face just because of his injuries; that's when he swore he would finish this battle without a single scratch, to see her smiling again.
#08 - Whiskey and rum
Neither whiskey nor rum, sake was the chosen beberage of both; and after saying cheers, the drinking competition began.
#09 - War
This was war, and they had little time to do anything but focus on the enemy in front of them; but Nami couldn't help but wonder if Zoro had gotten lost on the way... specially after how he had missed the stairs...
#10 - Weddings
They would never have a wedding with family, friends and all the formality, but that was to be expected, they were pirates after all; plus, he found the concept stupid... he didn't need to tell someone he loved her, she already knew that and it was more than enough.
#11 - Birthday
Somehow, she had found out his birthday and prepared him a cake; it tasted horrible since Sanji didn't want to produce anything for the marimo and Nami was left in charge, but the intention counted... the bad side was, she was still charging him for the ingredients she used since she had to purchase them with her own money!
#12 - Blessing
Sometimes, he thought Nami's strenght was more of a curse than a blessing... particularly when she got violent towards him...
#13 - Bias
Robin wasn't the most trustworthy source, but he knew she wasn't lying this time... if Nami did indeed love him, they why did she act like such a witch, it didn't make sense... but when he looked up, he just saw Robin smiling; when asked for the reason behind her laugh, she just said that he had broken into a big smile the moment he was informed of Nami's crush on him, without him noticing...
#14 - Burning
He still remembers the crew's reaction to his relationship with Nami; Luffy didn't understand much but was happy they were happy, Robin just smiled (meaning she probably knew all along), Franky gave them a thumb-up, Sanji's leg started burning and he attempted to murder the marimo with a Diable Jambe, Chopper warned Nami about birth control, Usopp freaked out and Brook started playing a love song with his violin.
#15 - Breathing
Nami took a big breath of the calm air and caressed his green hairs; she smiled and wished this peaceful moment didn't end... it was perfect.
#16 - Breaking
Nami looked at the broken furniture, fury present on her face; "if I don't kill you for breaking the stupid table, I'm sure Franky will do it... which do you prefer, Zoro?"
#17 - Belief
Despite what the odds seemed to indicate, as she observed the locked room around her, she was sure of one thing; Zoro would save her, he always did...
#18 - Balloon
He observed the balloons that floated above their heads, annoyed, and wished he had his swords to destroy them; but even if he had them there with him, despite how annoying the colors were, he couldn't do anything with Nami asleep on his shoulder, so he would just have to endure it.
#19 - Balcony
"This ship needs a balcony" commented Nami "wouldn't it be nice to watch the midnight star-filled sky... together?
#20 - Bane
He understood it, he was doomed... it was a terrible tragedy, it was his ruin, but he would've to live with it; she was going to be the death of him, but she was actually worth the bane she made him go through.
#21 - Quiet
"Just stay quiet for a moment and breathe" indicated Zoro, his legs and arms crossed on the ground and his eyes closed; Nami stood up, and complaining about how stupid meditation was she returned to the deck.
#22 - Quirks
She raised an eyebrow; "so, you do know how to read... and you like adventure novels... you sure are strange, Zoro; fine, I won't tell... but there's a price..."
#23 - Question
"It was just an innocent question!" "there's nothing innocent when it comes to you, witch!" "fine, kill yourself" "no, thank you" "fine" "fine"... and after a small pause, the two reduced the space between their lips to zero; Franky, who was passing by, raised his sunglasses in surprise... he still didn't get the love/hate dynamic of those two... and he doubted he would ever get it.
#24 - Quarrel
Every day was a new quarrel; every night was a new reconciliation.
#25 - Quitting
Nami would never quit on her ideals; either he was going to change his mind or admit she was right... and accept a new raise on his debt!
#26 - Jump
"Sorry cook, but you have to do lunch, so I'll go" smirked Zoro, happy with Sanji's murderous glare, before jumping from the deck to meet Nami and swim together to the beach shore.
#27 - Jester
"I feel like a buffoon" commented Zoro as he observed the exaggerately large clothes Nami had bought for him; she complained about him not giving her his proper sizes, and about how he was
#28 - Jousting
"No" she stated firmly "I don't care if medieval knights did this jousting shit; and if they did, I'm sure they didn't do it with their girlfriends!"
#29 - Jewel
Her hand possessed three things she held dear; the Log Pose (the mark of trust her captain and her nakamas had on her skills), the golden bracelet given to her by Nojiko, and the beautiful golden ring Zoro had put on her finger one of the happiest days of her life.
#30 - Just
"Just in time" he smirked before facing Mr. One; Nami was still perplexed, why did he save her this time if she hadn't blackmailed him?
#31 - Smirk
Every time he saw that smirk on her face, he knew either his debt was going to go upwards or he would be exposed to some kind of danger... like joining her on one of her "little" shopping sprees.
#32 - Sorrow
She wasn't a person to feel a lot of empathy, but one look at it had been enough to guess that the emotional value Wado had for Zoro was unmeasureable... perhaps that was the reason that led her to return the sword to him.
#33 - Stupidity
Nami found herself surprising herself even more at Zoro's stupidity; "how the hell can you get lost in your own damn ship?!"
#34 - Serenade
Brook started playing a serenade and Nami smiled evily, "either you dance with me or your debt duplicates; your choice moron."
#35 - Sarcasm
"Yes, because I really want to help you carry all those bags back to the ship" said Zoro, sarcasm heavy on his statement; yet somehow, an hour later, there he was on a shopping spree with the witch.
#36 - Sordid
"You're such a sordid, evil, money-crazy wit-" "yeah, yeah, whatever; stop bitching and pass me the sunbathing cream"
#37 - Soliloquy
Zoro yawned and was about to fall asleep, but Nami's powerful slap effectively woke him up; "this is important information, not just a speech, so listen to me!"
#38 - Sojourn
"This is exactly what we needed, a day away from the idiots; cheers!" cheered Nami, raising up her rum bottle with a smile, and Zoro couldn't help but raise his own bottle too.
#39 - Share
Sanji hated to see food wasted, so she just gave Zoro -who was next to her- all the stuff she wasn't going to eat, since she was full; Robin somehow interpreted that as a sign of love, which sent Sanji on a rampage and a fight between swordsman and cook erupted right there.
#40 - Solitary
Zoro had always been a lone wolf, but he didn't seem to mind the company of the witch during his watch duty.
#41 - Nowhere
He was nowhere to be found; when she eventually found him lost around town, she punched him and kicked him for making her so worried.
#42 - Neutral
Robin was sitting in between Zoro and Nami and had remained neutral in the argument so far, until she got tired of the insult and produced four extra hands to hold their necks; she politely asked if the two could keep the argument for after she was done eating and didn't release them until they both nodded in agreement.
#43 - Nuance
"It's just a subtle change!" "I'm warning you witch, if you dye my hair of any other color, no matter which one, I'll kill you in your sleep!"
#44 - Near
She rejected his body during daytime, but gently accepted it at nighttime; but the secrecy of it all made it much more fun.
#45 - Natural
"It's natural, now let me go" protested Zoro, his whole body trapped by Robin's extra limbs as Nami examined closely his hair.
#46 - Horizon
With the horizon shining with the light of dawn in front of him, and Nami's body resting on top of his, he truly felt happy for the first time in two years.
#47 - Valiant
"I'm honorous, brave and valiant" "... and that's what makes you stupid"
#48 - Virtuous
He has many virtues, but patience wasn't one of them, and he tapped his foot impaciently as Nami assaulted one boutique after the other; she almost seemed to be doing it on purpose.
#49 - Victory
When he emerged victorious from his fight, he didn't care about his injuries, he only cared about finding her alive before it was too late; the relief of seeing her alive was such, that he didn't even mind that much the piggyback ride... at least at the beginning.
#50 - Defeat
He would never forgive himself if he was defeated; how could he possibly face her then, he had sworn on his pride that he would protect her, it was his duty now; and now they didn't even need a debt as an excuse.
