Marching Band

Out of curiosity.

What did ya'll play for Marching Band season?

We played A Tribute to Jim Morrison and the Doors. Something I originally thought wouldn't work out, cause I mean, a marching band, playing some of that old school rock. But it was truly awesometastic.

This year, we did a Doobie Brothers Show (Taking to the streets, china grove, jesus is just alright) and a Santana show (everybody's everything, black magic woman, and something else i can't remember). We don't do the usual one show per year thing. we learn a bunch of songs, usually two shows, but then some random songs for pre and post game shows.

ooh thats pretty cool, we usually just do an annual before concert season thing and go to a band show at the end

This year we did Aerosmith! New and old stuff...my idea! :) It was amazing!

Opener: "Dude Looks Like a Lady", "Falling in Love", and "Janie's Got a Gun"

Production Number: "Just Push Play" and "Love in an Elevator"

Ballad: "Dream On"

Closer: "Walk This Way"

The Blugold Marching Band kind of has their own style, more strict corp style marching mixed in with what we call our "groove" and dancing. Basicly, since we're a college band, we really put on a show to enertain our crowd.

Our director writes all the arragements, and says that he wants us not to sound like a "marching band". LOL. It's awesome.

Oh, like more like the real recordings rather than stiff rhythms that most pre-arranged pieces come.

:D

So, it sounds more like Aerosmith rather than a "canned marching band."

We did Reflections of Earth based on the Disney Mellenium theme. It was a cool show and we took 3rd in state for it. In the past we've done Wicked, and JC Superstar during my time here. We just learned next years show today, and its going to be Blast! WOS Style. I can't wait!
