i love vegemite! i used to whack a lot of bovrille until the mad cow fear, then i switched over to vegemite.

For shepherd's pie, i realised that my friend does an even better version, but till i get it from her, this is how i do it myself:-

1) Buy a small portion of minced beef, enough to layer the bottom of the bake pan.
2) Lightly pan fry the minced beef with mixed vegetables (peas, and carrots are best). DO NOT COOK WELL.
3) Boil 3 or 4 potatoes. Skin them and mash them and sprinkle lightly with pepper.
4) Layer the bottom of the bake pan with the beef.
5) Spread on the mashed potatoes (at least 3 or 4 layers) on top of the beef.
6) Bake it for about 20 mins, depending on heat of your oven.

-Optional : You can spread some cheese lightly on top.

There you go, shepherd's pie!
