you've really been to two of them? awesome! i love little independent places like that and always try to patronise them if possible. better than the bland chain hotels in many cases.

i would always recommend a trip to the keweenaw peninsula. i went to university at mtu for a year and have lots of great memories.

My experiences tend to be more by accident, or at least lack of planning. I'm usually a Bates Motel kind of guy.

The one in Silver Bay was pretty much a trip to the North Shore and the first place I stopped that had an open room was that one. It caught my attention mostly because of the name. I remembered it from the Wreck of the Edmund Fitgerald. I don't remember much except the name.

The one in Ashland was due to a car breakdown during an attempted romantic getaway. It was a nice place, and we hit it just before apple season. She loved it there, well except for my attempt at 'Burning Love' by Elvis.
