What if they didn't make it in time? What if Shaw actually did manage to explode before they could stop him? Global anti-mutant movement or sorta apocalyptic chaos? With Shaw trying to rule the world, other mutants like Wolverine might join Charles and Erik to stop him?

i'm such a sucker for post-apocalyptic fic ... and so far there's a serious lack of it in this meme. *waits impatiently for a fill*

This is going to be a bit long I think. But I'm posting the beginning just to see if anyone likes it. :)

They’re too late, that’s all Charles can think as he looks at the wreckage from the plane. The blockade, both Russian and American, have been reduced to nothing. He can feel Erik reaching out to feel for the metal that should be there, but he can already tell that Erik can find nothing. They are looking at the heart of the explosion ( ... )

They were met with guns. Raven had been the first one off the plane and she let out a shriek that had Charles and Erik pushing ahead to see why she, and then Moira, had screamed ( ... )

OP here! OMG I can't describe how excited I was when I found this filled!! This beginning is perfect. I really like that Charles' optimism doesn't change easily but he does admit they are feared just because they are mutants like Shaw. All the characters are just spot on. I can totally see Alex hesitating doing any serious damage to men pointing guns at him. With Moira's memories erased, CIA might be off their backs for awhile but I guess going out to recruit mutants could be a tad harder? IDK I'm drawning in your awesomness. Don't worry if it's long, I LOVE LOOOONG STORIES♥

Dear Tenses: Please try and stay consistent. :| I kept finding myself slipping into present tense for some reason. I've tried to catch each change but I do not have a beta (who wants to read xmen fic) and so I may have missed some .____. if I ever repost it it'll be cleaned up.Charles scanned the perimeters of the estate once they had landed (they’d need to think of where to hide the jet, but for now it was fine in the clearing). No one was registering, but then again he couldn’t feel Shaw, so it didn’t make him feel much better. And once he was inside, joining the other four in the rec room, where they were watching television, his mood dropped even more ( ... )

They all moved closer, trying to see what was on the television and Charles stopped once he did. Pictures and names were being flashed on the screen. Sebastian’s picture from the CIA document, and then sketches of the rest of them. On top of each pictures were the words “ARMED AND VERY DANGEROUS. DO NOT APPROACH. CALL AUTHORITIES.”

Raven let out a sob, completely involuntary as the images started to go on a loop, the man’s voice strong and calming in the background.

“These are just some of the people responsible for the Cuban Nuclear Attack. If you have any information on any one of these individuals do not hesitate. Call the local authorities and they will connect you to someone who can help ( ... )

This is excellent, it's a really fascinating AU and I can't wait to see what you do with it. :D Eagerly awaiting more.
