I love the way you've drawn Charles' relationship to his telepathy, the way he treats it like an animal he doesn't want to hurt but doesn't trust. It's so deftly done, and so, so sharp.
Please say this hasn't been abandoned! It's one of my favorite stories on here, and I'm desperate to see where it goes.

'Don't,' he snaps at Raven as she slides down in her seat and stretches out those mile-long legs. How can she not realize? If he ever had any doubt as to her actual gender, as to the question of whether or not a shapeshifter can even have an actual gender, here's proof. I love the misunderstandings and just how wonderfully broken Charles is. Of course in trying to protect the people who are being impossibly nice to him, he ends up offending them. That's going to do wonders for his already abominable self-esteem.
Also, I love the note about Raven's real gender showing through. I read a book about a rather butch woman who passed for male for a while. All of her male friends thought she was flaming gay.
Anyway, please continue this work of brilliance. I really want to see where you take this from here!

Charles is astounded that these two can even exist, much less exist in his pathetic scrap of a life
I love how Charles is already so attached to Raven and Erik, even though it's been such a short time.
A pink tongue swipes at her lower lip, catlike and that's wrong, too.
It's great how Charles notices the little things so quickly; so perceptive, but at the same time utterly oblivious.
Can't wait to see more of this <3

They way you've written Charles, I'm not sure whether I want to slap him or hug him. Everyone feels so right; of course this is the way they would be in these circumstances.
Thank you so much for updating! I'm so incredibly glad to see this hasn't been abandoned.
