Charles and Erik are (temporarily/permanently) in a town with a lake. Possibly looking after kids. The lake is used as dumping ground and when the next rock band is swallowed by the baby!Cthulu spawning there, a law is passed that anyone dumping anything into the lake will be prosecuted.
Cue Erik and his "pfft, human laws," attitude.
Cue government dropping a dome onto the area. Charles is understandably upset, because everyone is, then he finds out it was Erik who tipped the scale.
The way I see it, there's a few ways this could go: they escape together and fight whether to save the town, Erik escapes alone and BAMFs a rescue while Charles remains and is enough of a BAMF to hold the town together, etc. Or, the dome is alien and no one escapes (Under the Dome), and things get progressively worse, as people turn to blame Charles, he of the psychic powers, perhaps?
I'm all for happy endings. Or crack. Crack is good too! Powers of no powers, up to you.
